"I'm goin to do it up real fine", as the camera pans back from the car he is leaning against, to the old bike beyond.

I've never wanted freedom so much

since I lost touch with love

  • very true in this life

  • This is profound, touching, and actually briught me to tears......does anyone if Jimmy wrote this......It is so intense, it seems he did.......Just want to hold him.

  • @thabluz7 oops...meant brought........for those of us who can relate to this......it is somehow comforting.......tears of sadness and joy.........he is a beautiful man and my sister turned me on to him, or I would have never known about him, he should be out there.....where's his Public Relations and Promoters? This is a legend.........

  • @thabluz7 Yes, Jimmy Cliff wrote this. Cher and Annie Lennox also do great rendition of this song.

  • @NewEnglandBudo thank you for your response. I can feel him, and just found out I met him in N.J. where he was with Rita Marley. Bob Marley's wife. She lived in our building and used my limo and driver for the airport, frequently......Lovely woman. I didn't realize that and saw him daily. Beautiful man.

  • @thabluz7 OMG!!!! I'm thrilled that hailing from NY and NJ........my roommate just told me we had the joy of meeting in him in the Doric, a highrise.........as my limo was used to carry Jimmy and Rita Marley, (Bob Marleys wife) to the airport several times.......I didn't know at the time.........we all lived in the same bldg....! Very spiritually rewarding to me................Rita is a lovely woman and Jimmy awesome!!!!!!

  • jimmy rocks jimmy is live legend!!

  • jimmy rules

  • congrats on the rock and roll hall of fame induction jimmy!

  • its not reggae. that's funny. jimmy cliff is reggae. just because it doesn't hav the backbeat of many reggae songs the soul of this song is pure reggae. whatever you call it i love it. love jimmy's spirit

  • He sings like all the greats, like he means every word.

  • This song is just amazing. especiasly how he can sing like that at this age.

someone tell me why he is keep shaking

  • @WARRIORMPG786 he shakes his head like that because it what he has always done when he had dreads. Shaking your dreads is is homage to the lion on the rasta flag. Shaking his mane.

  • @clevermonkey64 Really? That's interesting.

  • Classic!!!!!

  • what a voice and he is still around this song touches your soul not many reggea songs can do that

  • Its not reggae.

  • to spykee i know its not reggae song i meant to say he is agreat reggae singer obviously this is not reggae but never mind eh he is greaat and the song gives me shivers

  • @spykeewildthing

Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" is not reggae either.

Back in the day Jimmy grew up listening to r & b, soul,

gospel.. that's where early reggae (ska) comes from.

Jimmy is one of the reggae legends all the same. :)

  • Great just Great

  • There are those who become famous really quickly and vanish, there are those who are good in what they do and get recognze for it, and then then there are those who are like Jimmy who will stirr up people's hearts decade after decade in their beautiful music...God bless you Jimmy for all the wonderfull music.

  • Jimmy is a Muslim not a rasta. Just FYI Saw him Santa Cruz in the eighties great voice
