I watched this the other day for the first time in around ten years and although I thought it was creepy when I was a child I appreciate it more for that now, I still liked it when I was younger but when I watched it again noticed just how damn adorable Jack is, before I liked Dorothy because I was more compatible to her but now I'm older I realised how innocent and child-like Jack is, I badly want to cuddle him :)

In the 1939 film, yes, she was older. However, in the original Oz books by L. Frank Baum, Dorothy was only around 11 or 12 years old. 'Return to Oz' is based more on the books rather than the 1939 film.

No offense, but I think everybody who is commenting and trying to make sense of the "original" vs. the "sequel" (I put them in quotes because these movies were made independently of each other and not as a series :P), should rather just go and read the original Baum books (primarily The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Marvelous Land of Oz, and Ozma of Oz) to understand each movie's individual perspective.

There's a Wicked Princess and a Wicked King. The Witches have probably all been turned to stone because everyone else in OZ has. The Nome King of the North Mountains has the Ruby Slippers and turned everyone in OZ to stone, while the head-exchanging Princess Mombi rules OZ in the passing time.

Yeah, it was based on two of the "OZ" books: "The Marvelous Land of OZ" and "Ozma of OZ". I think Dorothy is younger because in "The Wizard of OZ", she is portrayed as sixteen, when in the books, she is around ten or eleven. Or, the fact that Judy Garland was dead when making this movie so she couldn't take the role again. :P

Actually it isn't really a sequel to Wizard of Oz. It's based more on the books than the movie. (I didn't realize this until I did some research on it though. I think it's why Dorothy is younger in this one than Wizard of Oz.) Just saying. That being said, the MV is awesome. :D I loved it.
