There are clearly some major economic issues here in LV - esp the incredibly high rate of unemployment - but I lived in the condos that appear on the left of the screen at the very start of the video (Park Avenue) just before and through the height of the building boom. This shopping center they're showing was always a ghost town, even at the economy's peak. While there is a lot of empty commercial space, this particular shopping center is not really a fair indicator of the state of things here.

Excellent report. My wife and I just got back from Vegas, we stayed in the Mirage. Business was pretty good on the strip as usual, but of course It does not tell the whole story, in light of what you have shown. A lot of taxi drivers we talked to said that they hope business picks up, so that is a definite indicator. We saw lots of pedestrian traffic and the day we left town(9/3) traffic on the highway seemed to be picking up. A lot of that seems to be coming from California.

....sad irony....i have one cousin that does nails in vegas,,,,one cousin that is a pastor in some jesusfreak church & an event planner,,,,an uncle who is raging alcoholic & another cousin who likes the gay rodeo scene....sounds like this mall is perfect for them.
