  • Hi Mr. Khan! Thanks so much! This very much helped with my review for my science test on sound waves and light! Wish me luck ^-^ Keep this up. :)

  • Thankyou sooooo much. My physics teacher cannot explain this at all in my AS class. This makes it so much clearer :D

  • Who the hell dislike this. Oh wait, his wife.

  • i think im in love with this guy ......

  • are the transverse waves and the periodic waves the same things????

  • Hey, can you make a video only on Sound Waves??

  • you need a different colour pointer.

  • vsauce + khan = bacon.

  • I love it

  • sal is a king among men

  • oh so thats why could my mother hear as I jerked off!

  • incredible

  • @azare12345 theres one lol

  • thanks so much Sal, I have a big science test tmr on energy, specifically sound. thx a for this video:)

  • I have three sisters, please marry one.

  • My text book and notes say a pulse is a single disturbance or bump, you have two?

  • Sal if you continued on for a another hour or two you might have rediscovered Quantum Mechanics!

  • InvariantSpace youtube channel does a playlist on this stuff. Pretty interesting

  • so sound waves are basically higher density air

  • compression wave because its caused by a compression

transverse wave because its caused by a transvestite???

  • @enzorussian Haha!!

  • Also one on out of tune notes... just add youtube.com

    /watch?v=ORGblj1k54g

Send me a message if you want to start collaborating on videos together. Khan's academy shouldn't just be a one way street. Let's work together!

  • For my upcoming test, I needed to know how waves relate to sound. I made a video to help myself and others, but Khan can you expand please!!!!

Here's the video if you find it useful. Just add youtube.com

    /watch?v=t21YKvdlBhc

I'll remove right away! Just give the heads up if this isn't okay.

  • Today I had the most vaguest bullsht Physics lesson in my life on Waves, 1 hour 5 minutes and I was still unsure what a wave was. Here in just 13 minutes Sal elucidated everything perfectly. Sal you are a bloody Godsend!

  • Thank you so much! The problems are easy for this chapter, but I was lacking the intuitive understanding that will help me remember how to do it on the AP test. That's where you shine, not many other teachers have the capability to teach intuitively.

  • i put off other work to do this work

  • great work! keep it going and thanks for doing this

  • great work! keep it going and thanks for doing this

  • Sal you are the man! cheers from New Zealand.

I hope you do some vids on optics that would help me out a lot =)

  • Foreal i learn more watching one of these videos then in a whole year lol

  • Wow thanks, im doing AS physics at the moment and we did the waves topic but i never really understood it, but with this first lesson everything is becoming clearer :) I love how you teach because its never boring and they are short, easy to digest videos, thank you so much for them i actually cant thank you enough haha, anyways i look forward to learning more from your awesome videos :)

  • Very Interesting. Now can you break down basic spectroscopy for us like I'm a four year old?

  • Thank you very much!

  • is this video continued??????

whats the name of that one???

    please tell me

  • Waves, yes!

Waves gave me the most trouble in physics, but now that they are getting the Kahn treatment, I'm sure I'll understand them in no time!

  • Great vid and like many times before... perfect timing =)

    Thx Sal.

  • So one wave length is equivilent to 2 compressions?

  • awesome...my physics module just started waves today...hope you'll do videos on EM waves, optics and quantum physics

  • I enjoy these videos very much!

  • I am eagerly waiting for the next video!!!

    Awesome explanation..

    ¡ʎzɐɹɔ buıob ǝɯ ʇob

  • Yep sound waves in pipes and harmonics would be good

  • awesome! please do some on sound waves in closed and open ended pipes in relation to harmonic, overtones and fundamentals please :D

  • haha, I got a test on this on friday and I´ve been waitng for this for such a long time ;) Thank you!

  • yay that was fun.

  • Very interesting video, waves is a very important concept so thanks for that!!

  • Hahaha, wish you put this up last, got tested on this stuff last Wed. but still enjoyed the vid. Should still come in handy for the final :)

  • Ah ! I have been waiting for this . . From ages . .

    Thankx

  • Finally lol

  • I predict that soon Sal Khan is going to be given some prestigious award for his efforts on youtube. And if no such award exists then someone needs to make one!

  • @hoffman164 ya i also think he shud be given a big prize....sumthing similar to the nobelprize.

  • @hoffman164 Google gave him 2 million dollars. To make the site even better, and to translate the videos to several languages.

  • it's simply stunning how amazing all the videos are. Please keep them coming and thank you Sal. :)

  • Sal,

Keep up the good work. I enjoy your programs.

I recommend the Dover paperback book "almost all about waves" by Bell Labs John R. Pierce, a great engineer. There is a section on how the ears works based on reflections.

  • Any chance of getting you to do a video on wave phase conjugation, implosion & centripedal force/ gravity?

  • "im gonna jerk it up then back down" - thats what she said lol

  • can u do newton's laws and acceleration converting stuff XP

  • @xxxPLAYGIRL4lifexxx he already did videos on Newtons laws, just look at the physics playlist!

  • Great video !!

Can you do videos about histograms in statistics btw ?

    PLEASE
