  • I agree with shrunkensimon i was very impressed with the way he ties it all together. I have had his Biology of Transcendence for some years now and never had much time to read it from the beginning to end but from what I have read was fascinating and the bit about all the noble ideas, brave and inspiring people to base our lives on.. society as a whole still has not seemed to evolved. People still are commiting violent crime and leading dangeous lifestyles. We need to set structure.

  • reforming rather than allowing evolution to occur and create society and its organizations.

  • Read a couple of his books and i was definitely impressed by his scope of knowledge. The stuff about brain evolution, heart-mind, developmental stages in children and the ultimate denying of post-biological evolution (failure of the imagination) is awesome.

I think some of his conclusions about culture and education are fantastic, and the way he ties it all together seems to work well.

  • This guy reminds me of Manly P. Hall in some ways.

  • I've always wanted to hear this man speak. Thanks very much for sharing this.

  • Read Pearce's "Exploring the Crack in the Cosmic Egg." Its a truly brilliant and unique treatment of how enculturation (entrapment in culture) holds us back from being truly human. The exceptions are members of small cultures that live close to nature. The further away we get from our proper place in nature the more we succumb to enculturation and lose ourselves.

  • Well said. I'm currently reading his book, the Biology of Transcendence . I completely see eye to eye with you on the fact that culture tarnishes people's potential. In that sense, I believe it has made people more dependent on culture than themselves. Sigmund Freud posed the theory that our unconscious wants to wreck havoc on to everything, which in turn made people afraid of themselves. It occurs to me through reading Pearce's work that one might be afraid of their own impulses because th

  • because the impulses from the lower brain have been given reinforced many times over again so much so that people may not realize the ability of their higher brains. When one brain accomodates another, the old functions are still there but their made intelligent and are made to agree with the higher brain.Yet some people may give in too much to lower brain impulses while ignoring the functioning ability of the higher brain structures.Culture's influence instills fear, makes us ignore ability.

  • dude sounds like yoda lol
