  • haha wow Mark Eaton just makes the whole crowd on the court look tiny.

  • fantastick player..but that honestly if that was an assit then magik johnson would have more than 11000

  • Comment removed

  • Should've ran a pick n roll!!

  • whos oscar robinson?

  • @starkystar1 the man with the most triple doubles in nba history

  • over 9000 assists

  • stockton malone jordan pippen

  • it would be to malone too...those two were unbelievable

  • its a shame he had to play in the jordan era, if he had just won one ring he would be even more immortal.

  • the greatest point guard there ever was........

  • NUGGETS PLAYERS SUCKS!

  • most kids my age want to be scores i want to be the guy that gives the score the ball john is my role model as a player

  • The best thing about John's record-breaking assist? He passed it to Malone, just like he did thousands of times before. Also, it's funny that the same people who booed Stockton when he was drafted by the Jazz back in 84' were cheering for him then.

  • how appropriate is it that his record breaking assist would be to malone :)

  • it would have been nice if magic had played longer so that number would have been much higher inevitably tho stockton would have broken it anyways :)

  • im hungry to see a new "stockton" on the court but I guess theres just one! dang I love this guy!

  • So weird how they used to have illegal defense/no zone back then

  • What year was this?

  • @McDonaldsDude February 1, 1995

  • In his career he made 15,806 assists!!!! 9922 was nothing for him...

  • i mean look at that last assist..i couldve done dat...

  • Stockton is and always will be the greatest pure point guard to ever play the game. Magic was flashy and had a lot of highlights, but nobody understood the game better than Stockton.

  • @pele1281 ummm u sed it urself buddy, flashy and highlights..oh and 5 rings..MAGIC knows the game better den him..if it wasnt for his HIV he proly wouldve made it 3 championships in a row...HANDS DOWN BEST POINT GUARD MAGIC not stockton...TOO boring...

  • @bayboitonga

So the flashier a player is, the better he is? Um, NO. Stockton would have had rings, too. Except there was this guy who played in the 90's named Michael Jordan. Maybe you've heard of him? Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, etc?

Dan Marino never had a ring, and he was one of the best passers to ever play football. Is Big Ben a better QB because he has rings and makes flashier plays?

You probably didn't watch either of them play. I did. Stockton did more with less.

  • @pele1281 Anyone who simplifies Magic Johnson as "flashy and had a lot of highlights" is a fucking moron and doesn't know anything about basketball.

  • "The crowd goes crazy-Illegal defense on the Jazz!" lol way to mess with the moment refs.

  • w8 w8 w8.... what!?

    Oscar Robinson?

  • Seriously I love this guy. I look up to him, he is the epitome of what an athlete and man should be, an all around class act.

  • @SweetAwesome22 all around class act? you don't know john stockton

  • @SweetAwesome22 js he was voted all time dirtiest nba player by players and coachs

  • Two things I noticed:

    1) Holy hell Mark Eaton frightened me.

    2) None of the Nuggets congratulated him. Opponent or not, show some respect.

  • Hot Rod " Stock says lets play basketball." That is why Stockton is so great, he wasen't in it for the recognition it was his job and he took it serious. Some of todays players will only take it serious if the money is right.

  • @tigerwarner

When the time came for Stockton to sign a new contract, he never asked for a lot of money. He was a humble guy, and his philosophy was, "I'm getting paid obscene amounts of money to play a child's game."

Truly the last old-school athlete in professional sports.

  • @pele1281 So true. This man was one of the greatest to walk the court.

  • I/m pretty sure that 14k of 15 were assists to karl.

  • @answer1995 well, Utah is known as the NBA's loudest fans. Haha nice job Pasty Gangsta! John Stockton is a legend!

  • Class act. A real role model.

  • i could have made that pass lmao.

i dont really agree with how they count assists -.-

  • IM A HUGE LAKER FAN........... BUT STOCKTON WAS JUST A TURE NBA PLAYER

  • come on people...that wasn't an assist, Malone did 80% of the job himself

  • @SvenGalore it WAS an assist. By the way do you know what an assist is?

  • @daW0LF55

In what way did he "assist" Malone to score? None. He passed the ball and in fact Malone moved away from the basket before shooting and scoring from 18 FEET away.

NBA's definition of an assist is stupid (a guy can score a 3 after a pass and the pass will still be regarded as one) and you should use your own judgement once in a while

  • greeeeeeat

  • what's so great about this is he knows DAMN well he's broken the record, but all that's on his mind is "let's get the ball back before the other guys score"

  • john remained to the heart of everyone who love basketball...

  • Am I the only one that thinks it's weird that they stopped in the middle of the game ?

  • i was at this game!! never yelled so loud in my life! John Stockton was one of the BEST PG to ever touch a basketball!

  • Mark Eaton comes outta nowhere lookin like a Cave Troll or something.

  • @jkellybrew Ha Ha your comment made me laugh, especially since it's so true

  • how fitting that it was to another stockton to malone combo

  • "Stockton The Real Magic"? Isn't that kinda insulting?

  • @jingjong12 Very

  • That is so Stockton " Ok enough lets play basketball". Man love John Stockton!

  • probably the longest timeout ever lol

  • most players don't even reach the 9k mark in points, let alone 9k assists. John Stockton is a legend.

  • The record is untouchable

  • This Is One Of The NBA Records That Will Never Be Touched.

  • 1:14 who is that giant?

  • @MrKapamaru

Mark Eaton. 7' 4" He played center for the Jazz from '82 to '94. Guy was a walking tree trunk. Not great on offense, but one hell of a defender.

  • @Inquendi that't true, myfrnd im agree wid u.stokton is the director, malone is the offense master, mark eaton is the defense minister!!!!!

  • @Inquendi thanks

  • @MrKapamaru Mark Eaton, Jazz Center from 1982-1994 7' 4" tall, 290 lbs Best known for his defensive mastery. All-Star Appearance (1989) Defensive Player of the Year (1985, 1989) 1st Team All Defense (1985, 1986, 1989) 2nd Team All Defense (1987, 1988) #53 Jersey retired by Utah Jazz(1996) Holds NBA records for Most Blocks per game in one season (5.56) Most Blocks per game in a career (3.5) Source: Wikipedia
  • @amou8779

Holy balls 5.56 blocks per game over an entire season? I guess people actually played defense back then, huh? And 3.5 blocks per game over a career is just sick.

I wish I had been around to see that. I didn't start watching the Jazz until about the 94 season.

  • Nevermind, I just finished the video, LOL

  • Can anyone tell me who held the record at that time?

  • classiest person to ever play the game. his records will remain immortal. knocking on wood.

  • does he still holds the title or somebody already beat him? i pressume no one ever beat his record. let's face it, point guards now are now scorer type of point guard, not the typical point guard.

  • @triplehbk99 He has 15,000...5,000 more than Jason Kidd, who has about 10,000

  • @andru0617 thanks for info dude. i appreciated it. how about nash's?

  • this is just one of the many other records John Stockton was able to break/hold....

  • I sure remember this,was a special game.Hell of a player,a real good guy!

  • no one will be his record

not even chris paul and deron williams

  • @champking26 or steve nash

  • haha it looks so funny when the crowd goes wild after this simple play in the middle of game : )

  • Did you have the video after the game when President Clinton and Magic congragulated him?

  • @Juadelpu yes I do

  • @drg0012 is it on you tube

  • @drg0012 where is the video

  • He got like 15,000 assists at the end of his carrer

  • The only way it should have happened: Stockton to Malone!

  • 12 assists in the first 18 minutes of the game? Stock's a machine

  • and the crowd goes crazzyyyy.....illegal defense

  • Best Pure PG Ever!

  • I know this will make many Magic Johnson fans upset, but Stockton was clearly the better point guard.Assist are one of the most important thing a point guard brings to his team and he brought that to the Jazz.Magic was very talented, but Stockton had the 3 point shooting and slightly better passing ability, but i respect both of of them for what they did for their teams.

  • How did you figure he had the better passing ability? Magic Johnson averaged more points, rebounds and assists per game. He also lead the Lakers to 5 championships. What did Stockton do?

  • it is easier to win 5 championsips when you are passing to allstars and HOFers. Poor Stock just had Malone....would have won if it was for a certain # 23.

  • James Worthy became a hall of famer because of the system he was playing in. A big part of his success is due to Magic Johnson. As for McAdoo and Abdul Jabbar they were both past their prime when they won the championships (even though Jabbar was still good). Magic was the one who won the most Final's MVP on his team. If Jazz would of won anything Karl Malone would of got the trophy. Not Stockton

  • Still a better team than a washed up Big Dog, Carr, eisley, russell Ostertag buddy. Hory was all right tho.

Worthy was no fucking slouch either he would have done all right for himself if he was not with the lakers however magic made it easier for him, just like him being able to finish plays made magic's job easier.

  • imagine if he had 24

  • i agree stockton avrg guessing around

    14pts 10.5ast 3rbs

    Magic avrg around 20pts 11ast 7rbs

stats dont lie Magic > Stockton

but both two of the greatest pgs to ever play the game much respect to them both

  • but stockton could stop on a dime and jack up a 3. and DRAIN it. Magic couldn't shoot at all. Stockton could've averaged more if he really wanted to, but he knew he had to dish the ball to win

  • he only has the most assists and steals all time, at more than 15,000 and 3,000 respectively

  • my bad didn't realize you were sticking up for stock. that comment was intended for abdcc, below. magic may have averaged more assists but didn't play nearly as long as stockton did, who, upon retirement, was among the oldest retiring NBA players. lead the league in assists for 9 years straight, and like i said most assists and steals all time.

  • yeah, but those great stats never won a championship... Stockton was a great point guard, but Magic was the best ever...

  • @conni70 Magic had a better team --- I could play point guard with those LA teams

  • congratulations, brab1...you have successfully posted the dumbest statement in the history of my youtube experience...i suppose you could be president of the united states too? or how bout winning the Nobel peace prize? you fucking moron...

  • Stockton had back to back 15 + assists seasons one was 17 Avg

  • i don't think that it's counted as a dribble. The ball slipped when he was receiving it..

  • well i read in wiki that a player can just dribble the ball only twice for the passer to be credit with an assit. In this play, Malone dribbled only once therefore its counted as an assit for Stockton.

  • it should not be counted as an assist because Malone dribbled the ball once...

  • an assist is one in which leads to a basket. Many assists are by the player scoring that involves dribbling.

  • I don't know, that doesn't really seem like an assist to me. I mean sure he passed it but he didn't really create the scoring opportunity.

  • Ah the golden years of basketball (1980-1998). Basketball hasn't been the same since the Dream Teamers retired. The NBA is a shadow of what it once use to be. Grats John on the Hall of Fame this week!!!

  • ...everytime a record has been broken, they stop the game.

  • Those are players...I'm missing the real NBA!

  • much respect!

  • lmao i was thinkin that was player at 1:55

  • Tom Chambers

  • Great post. Do you have the video of Stockton breaking the All-Time Steals record? Love to see that one

  • Sorry, I don't. I wish I did though.

  • wow they actually stopped the game. that's amazing.

I hope kidd beats this bad boy!

  • Nobody will be breaking this record for many many years

  • many many many many many manymany many many years....

  • The best thing about this is that rather than milk the moment for as long as he could imagine, he just wants to play the game he loves. Truly a class act.

  • it's funny how he retires with almost 6,000 more assist after that..i don't think anyone will ever break his assist total record

  • I miss Hot Rod Hundley and StocktontoMalone.

  • to who else besides malone

  • I can't believe he went on to make over 15 THOUSAND assists. That's just unreal. Greatest point guard to play this game.

    LOL at the robinson typo

  • point guards wtch n learn

  • magic johnson was better in my opinion but stockton is one of the best point gaurds ever

  • I remember watching this. Man those were the days.

  • oh he is great player!!!!

  • one of the greatest......

  • He had 11 assists after that one with 6 minutes left in the 2nd..... W.O.W.

  • Plenty of other players are ringless and still great, hell Tracy McGrady hasn't even been to the second round of the playoffs and he's still great! Go Jazz!

  • Does that actually say "OSCAR ROBINSON"

I don't think he ever played basketball. Oscar Robertson did, though.

  • lmao wow ,, they came on the floor in the middle of the game

  • I. WAS. THERE.

I still have the certificate that was given out at the game, in perfect condition. I was only like 10 or something.. but thank God for my Dad for preserving that awesome thing for me! I was also there for the steals record and have that certificate!

  • True NBA legend. The greatest point guard of all times.
