Joe louis was the greatest then Joe Frazier then Ali. Ali never beat Frazier ever, the second fight was a farse, joe clearly won it and the last well, Ali wasn't gonna come out really. but they just could not win against ALI's mouth. It help them all make a lot of money. As much as I love ALI the things he said to Smoking Joe was the only dark spot in his career would have liked to see him give Joe a public apology

As funny as that seems, Ali (Clay at the time) was sizing them up and getting a feel for his next opponent, you can see it is not all comedy, he wanted to be close and feel their presence before the fight.

The rest was all image and psyche, which he was of course a master.

He played his opponent into submission at any level he could.

becaust Ali put himself on a limb by predicting rounds and placing bets with opponents (Like crawling across the ring...etc) he's basically putting himself in a corner where he HAS to win....he tried to psyche himself up just as much as he psyched out his opponents.
