americans most likely wouldn't have won the revolutionary war if it wasn't for the french. only helped because they wanted to weaken the british who were fast becoming, and eventually did, the world hegemon, washington, jefferson, adams, franklin were all followers of the european political philishophes of the "age of enlightenment" like locke, montesquieu, smith and rousseau, so liberal in that sense, for their time, but their views were very different from what is considered liberal today

Truth is you have no option. You have to vote for the lesser evil. But it doesn't end there. You need to fight for progressives between every election.
What options do we have? A progressive president instead of Obama? Don't kid yourself he's working on being reelected - he got elected on the progressive promises he made and abandoned, he has other priorities.
A third political party? The corporate press won't cover them.
The courts? Clearly, they have been bought as well.
We have let ourselves come to a situation rivaling that of third world nations and STILL aren't acting. Doesn't look good.
