  • Beautifully done. This song has always brought tears to my eyes.

I'd like to add that the writer & singer of this song, Joseph Kilna MacKenzie, passed away in his sleep, in the early hours of April 28, 2009, with his loving family at his side. He, too, was a veteran. This tune was played, appropriately, by his friend and band mate, piper Dougie Wilkinson, as his body was carried to it's final resting place. RIP Joe.

This beautiful song, Sgt. MacKenzie, is played the world over...

  • Excellent video. God bless the troops....God Bless the USA. It pains me that Medal of Honor winners like Mike Monsoor are relatively unknown, yet useless bimbos like Paris Hilton are household names. For those who don't know, Mike Monsoor was a Navy Corpsman who jumped on a hand grenade to save some Navy Seals he was working on. That is the ultimate sacrifice and a true hero.

  • this is what it takes to be a soldier to choose this type of Profession surely is your one foot is on the grave already be ready for anything to our Soldiers they were our Heroes a salute to all

  • God bless the USA and all her fallen!

  • This is reality of what happens the sacrifice of men and women who choose to fight a war over seas so we dont have to fight one here . God bless all our troops past and present. My parents both served my grandparents and their parents and their parents. I am 18 just out of HS most of my friends have no idea about the cruel reality of the world. I am deploying this summer so hopefully they dont have to experience this. Hooah

  • We will fight for you, glorious Nato fallen heroes.

    Long live freedom and democracy.

    Lupo.

  • Anyway politicians always ruin the end game!

  • Thank you! What you might not know that every american takes an oath to defend all and any forgien demcracy around the world. Thank you sir! God Bless you!

  • God bless Us.

  • God speed all of are troops.

  • I want to say thank you for posting this video. It was extremely beautiful and it's a shame that so many people disrespect who they are and what they represent. I have prayed for the troops and I will continue to pray for them. I admit that I have shed tears for them, and your vid only shows how great these people are. Thank you again.

  • The United States is the greatest force for good on this Earth.

But unfortunally most people of this planet are sheep, and they are easily mislead by people who with all their might will try to prevent the triumph of goodness.

These people spread lies about the US! Damn them!

  • I couldn't agree with you more, and thank you so much for supporting us! We have plenty of easily led people here in the US who are easily persuaded by lofty speeches, which is unfortunate. Your channel is awesome by the way! Love your video commentaries!

  • Thank You occles,

One day hopefully all will be free :)

The U.S.A. fought against Nazisim and Communisim; now we must fight against terrorist involved in an armed jihad to impose global totalitarin Muslim rule that denies all political and religous freedoms. Those that fight and die on our behalf are heroes and should be afforded the respect, honor and admiriation they rightly deserve. God bless our troops and the U.S.A.

  • As they said in the movie Blackhawk Down

"Then the shooting starts, politics go out the window, cause it all about the man next to you".

I personally salute all American Warriors past and present. Hadn't it been for their selfless sacrifice my Grandfather would have died in a Nazi prison camp, during WW2. And I wouldn't been alive today.

    God bless them.

  • Thank you. Thank you to all the veterans, those currently in service and those who have sacrificed all...And thank you to the families of those who serve. May God bless you all.

  • THank you

  • Thee, Lord be among us.

  • imagine if people like these people who go and fight did not volunteer and go fight boys from there 18 to 20s would be getting drafted and had no say so on whether they would go fight or not so be thankful that people do this.

  • people dont truley know how bad wars are. they tear our people and economy up! and i am truley thankful for the soldiers over there getting shot at and getting bomb for you and me. I think these men need more gratitude for what they do. this is a great video.

  • So Cool! Semper FI.

  • this is why i serve thank you so much! hoooah!

  • she has a dream that night she sees in it 3 differant women and then sees God he speaks and sais " I have gathered you all here to answer an age old question, your sons died so that millions may live in freedom and peace,so that others don't have to see the nightmares of life but instead can see the beauty of life, they are my workers and I keep them close and safe here in eternal peace."

  • heres a poem type thing i read you don't have to be christain for the meaning to be signifigant

"A mother went to heaven and to God she asks"why did my son have to die somewhere in Normandy",much later a mother asks God "why did my son have to die while raiding Inchon"years later another mother gets to heaven and sais "why did my son die in Khe Shan",currently a mother prays to God and asks in her prayers"why did my son die in Ramadi" (cont. above)

  • we are not fighting for a decadent goverment, we are fighting because our innocent country men were attacked, it is not our fault that we are deployed in fucked up places such as iraq.

  • just simply excellent

  • God bless the American fighting soldier they are the only heros we have in this world anymore.I feel shamefull of America sometimes because these great people don't want parades or monuments or holidays all they ask is to be rememebered and America can't even do that, pittiful.Thank you 116vi you are one of the few who remember.

  • Great pictures..really dictate the mood of the video.

  • Nice Vid... R.I.P. those who died, we will always remember you...†Godspeed†

ESMR - I'm guessing that was Arlington National Cemetery. Never been there myself - would like to visit one day.

  • that is a touching movie. thanks for posting it 116pvi.

  • What was the cemetery called?

  • May I be so humble to say Thank you, it is not enough this I know but Thank you. I pray everyone will be safe, whether in the arms of family or in the arms of Christ. I hope each person takes time in their day to thank the brave men, women and children who have sacrificed so very much so that we can lay our heads down at night and know they are watching over us as Christ is. Heros and Angels that is what they are. Thank you for the beautiful video.

  • in peace sons bury their fathers....... in war fathers bury their sons

  • you dont have to be american to repect the willingness of a man to die for complete strangers

  • this video is about men and women fighting and dying for there country. If ti weren't for them we wouldn't be able to run our mouths like this. so just respect them.

  • Pray that God will come. Man will continue to do this and it will continue to be required of man until He does.

  • Pray that Man will one day put down the sword and murder his brother no more! No more death, no more war. Pray for peace in our hearts, only through God Almighty!

  • may god bless them all and welcome all fallen comrades into his loving arms. thankyou for all your bavery we love all of you guys.

  • Sergeant MacKenzie was bayoneted to death at the age of 35, while defending one of his badly injured fellow soldiers in the hand-to-hand fighting of the trenches. RESPECT

  • Leave no man behind...

  • many have died and many more will die, but they will all live forever

  • I will bury my son today. Freedom carries the ultimate price, never forget this....

This song to me means a lot, I cant tell you how many times I've listen to it, but I glad to hear it every time. I salute my men and women fighting over their in Iraq.Oorah!!

  • Very touching. We owe alot to America

  • i dont think many of you really have any reason to talk against war or complain about it, because most of u have never been in 1, its the men and women who have faught who have a reason to do so. so why are all of u if u havent got tht reason. its really pathetic seeing these comments on all of these videos.

  • I am not american but british and i have fought with some very brave american troops couple of whome died fighting cpl.anderson sgt.brown hope to see u in the life

  • fredom is not free it is the gratest cost any nation could pay

  • I would just like to thank all those brave men's and women who put their lives on the risk to save others both American but also all the soldiers from other countries who also fight in the war against terror and for freedom to all! I myself are a Dane and we have also lost some brave mens to the war - great thanks to all Soldiers of the free world !

  • I too have seen my friends killed, one who saved my life was killed doing so. From my 6 man unit, 3 have been lost and the rest of us have been wounded. RIP my brothers, I'll see you soon.

  • Thanks for the video; excellent.

  • in that case i have a right to speak. this war has lost too many soldiers. especially a few of my friends

  • only talk if u have been in a war if not then shut up.

  • wow bro your statment there just kinda contradits what solders fight and die for you, want us to shut up becouse we wernt in a war

well just line us up and shoot us than. my grandfather fought in WWII and never told any one not even his my parents or uncles. we found out after he died and had to go thru his estate we found a jurnal of his tour and the stuff he must have seen it must have been horrible to keep it a secret from his whole family

  • i cant imagine i wish i could have talked to him about it and sortof undersand what he went thru cuz i know i never will now

and your only 14 what war have you been in halo or Call of duty

    sorry its so long

  • You're right, stupid democracy. We should have just let Saddam Hussein continue to murder innocent people. Even if it is completely about the oil, am I to assume you have never driven a car and live in a cave? Probably not, so unless you are doing some amature prospecting in your back yard, you really have no right to criticize how Bush gets you oil. You can't support soldiers while at the same time saying the cause they are fighting for is bunk.

  • Well everyone loves our boys right? We hope they all come home. The war is partialy over oil. Yet most all wars are over money anyway. The Revolutionary war was sparked by people not wanting to pay taxes and lead to establishing a democracy where the people have say as to who is their leader on their terms.

  • I was against the war from the start. But this is a tribute to the FALLEN who are most definitely deserving of respect. Please save the politics for the proper time and place.

  • My grandfather is from Germany and fought in the war for his country. To this day he will not speak about all of the horrible things he was asked to do. Our soldiers should be held high for all the sacrifices they have made.

  • God bless all the men and women who protect our country

rember the dead, but fight for the living

  • God bless. It is truly amazing what they're doing over there.

  • no war is amasing toss pot its where me fight and men die what is amasing about dieing 4 £20000 a yr and a job where ul gt bit by moskitos and get snakes in yr tent

  • and yes i think that we should just bring our men and women home.....and just bomb the hell out of those countries, but thats not goin to happen, i proud to be an american and its the only country i would want to live in..so yes it is the only one. what would you think if the battle field was at your front door steps?

  • no you dont, but yet america is the only one to stand up and help others out in need, sure I too wish at times we would keep out noses out of others affairs but we dont, my father fought in veitnam and came home called a baby killer and was spat at, for what? for doing his job doing what his country asked him to do, sure we lost some and won some.

  • this is a response to the one who we think america is the only country...no we all dont, but again you dont see our men women and children straping bombs to themselves nor do you see our men divin there planes into boats kamikaze style do you..

  • This video is amazing .

And the picuteres shows what the soldiers of the U.S. Army had seen and how hard there sorrow must be

  • a very moving tribute to very ordinary people who are doing something extraodinary in these times, standing up and being counted , sacrificing all for the freedoms we all take for granted , I grew up speaking english because the same ordinary people did the same sixty years ago. it is a debt I will never forget or ever be able to repay , god bless you all and bring you all home safe to your loved ones.

  • i am goin to basic in a few months and this song means alot to me. i cant explain it but it helps give me strength for when i get sent over

  • Too many times have I seen the boots and rifle tribute first hand. But I know and everyone in uniform knows that those perished fought bravely and died honorably.

  • c u in 2 months uncle john u hang on over there..........

  • GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS. USA # 1

  • Good luck to all our brave men and women fighting for America! Ilove you guys and gals!

  • luciouslindar. I am a soldier fighting in the army, do not worry your husband will come home, we are brothers in arms and we will be right behind him.

  • Thanks for those kind words..it means a lot to me knowing i have some support out there keep safe..god will be watching over you all.

  • My friend Donovan was KIA in Baghdad Iraq on 21 August 2007 along with SSGT. Sandy R. Britt. I played this song along with taps in the veteran section of Pine Crest Memorial Park 2 weeks later in their memory. Donovan I love you Bro and I will be with you soon.

  • Perfect. 5 stars

  • My husband is going to afghanistan for 7 months in march please say a prayer for him to keep him safe. This song affects me deeply ..it was played at a friends funeral only last month..R.I.P Mo

  • unbelieveably deep lyrics and video

  • "Loyalty to Country, Team, and Teammate,

Serve with Honor and Integrity On and Off the Battlefield,

Ready to Lead, Ready to Follow, Never Quit,

Take responsibility for your actions and the actions of your teammates,

Excel as Warriors through Discipline and Innovation,

Train for War, Fight to Win, Defeat our Nation's Enemies,

    Earn your Trident everyday."

  • US Navy SEAL creed.

And as I salute all who have served in the United States Military, I recall all of those who have, in this process, made life better for not only our nation, but for nations across the globe. Those who have fought, died, and lived to defend and protect the constitution, and without them, this nation would cease to exist.

  • Those who continue to give to America and all who America brings justice to. Those who are thanked, loved, and adored by the nations they have freed. Those who raise our flag in the shadow of death. Those who serve in the United States Military, and those who have died for its cause, you will never be forgotten.

  • Some gave a little, some gave a lot, and some gave their all. I look to the time when we all walk the streets of gold together. God Bless those that are keeping us a free nation.

    Semper Fi

  • god bless all who is in iraq and afghanistan may aries be with you i have friends there in iraq they're marines

  • For them all. Keep your heads down boys... Get yourselves back in one piece! Most of all keep your mucker safe and your head high! We'll get it right!

  • My grandfather served as a marine in Vietnam I dont think he'd ever be able to tell me what that was like espicially when coming back home he must have met alot of hatred. I can't imagine what that would be like.

  • Yes they got spit on and called baby killers. I am a young guy and I drive buy protesters or really extreme anti-war types and I can't help but think to myself: Did the man or did this woman spit on our fighting men in the 60s?

  • 48 Months Left For Me To Fight For My Brother KIA.......... RIP Bro :(

  • as a member of the u.s.a.f. i just want to say a big fuck you to anyone who doesnt support your troops...you either stand behind us, or you can stand in front of us...its your choice.

  • "sunt lacrimae rerum et mentem mortalia tangunt"

(There are tears for things, and what humans do touches the heart)

Brave men and women all !

ignore the cowardly vermin, skulking, snarking and snarling in the dark...anonymous and cowardly they would speak ill of you and what you have given up, for they have never willingly sacrificed anything for anyone.

    - Sleep peacefully and know you are loved and respected.

  • damn right all who have served or died for our country i salute you all many many times i leave for fort knox in febuary so wish me luck and give me ur prayers cause you will all have mine

  • Sad.. i got about 31 more month to join the ARMY n then i wanna go fight for my family lost.. :(

  • Yeh, same here. Chin up lads we'll all be home soon.

Cpl. Chris James Moore, [5th Infantry Division, uK]

  • The weird thing is, the song played in this tribute to American soldiers was originally a lament for a British soldier during the First World War.

My point of view: Even if we don't like the war, we should respect the soldiers for the sacrifices they are willing to make.

  • A lot of Americans come from British heritage. So, this song is fine. In fact most of our songs have European roots.

  • I salute all our men and women in uniform and my heart goes out to all the families that have lost a loved one in service to others. My son was Army Airborne for 5 years. After serving his country he came home only to be Killed in the Line of Duty as a Chicago Police Officer on 8/8/04. This song is very dear to me-thanks for the video.

  • I was the first one to post a comment on 116pvi's tribute to our fallen hero's and I must say that I am very proud of him and everyone that responded.I don't think that there was one negative remark about it.This song touches veterans or anyone who knew a vet on so many levels.I served with the 101st Airborne Division and the 2nd ID and my cousin served in the Marine Corp for 20 some years. We know what it is about.God Bless.

  • Thank you. As of tomorrow I will be a PFC in the Army National guard and my Brother is in the Marines so this video means a lot to me.

  • I hope all is well with you and your journey to become a United States soldier.Once you have served for awhile and truly made some life long friends you will really understand how this song effects some of us.God Bless.

  • the real heroes, they deserve to be honered and respecktet, because they gave the ultimate sacriface too keep us safe

  • well i have to say this god bless all soldiers and their families. for i can only re-enact the old soldiers but i think all soldiers are heroes and should be celebrated. the families also they are the truly brave ones.

  • Thanks for this. God bless all American soldiers. Keep your heads down and your chins up lads.

    British Soldier

  • Thanks M8

  • there was a quote i remember adn it goes SOMETHING like this ( note the word something)

your job is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.

  • patton said that

  • Honor them. Without their sacrifice we would suffer under those who would oppress us.

  • I Think Hero/legend is the right terms for all the soldiers of the country, cause they fight till there last breath and risk all for freedom of there fellow countrymen , so we can breath the free air and walk on free lands, its country governs/Judiciary system who should be more responsible for world peace , cause soldiers duty is to fight and protect when they are told to so and they do it on there life's.

  • Honored be our dead.

Rest well my brothers in arms.

I may be joining you soon, save me a place at the gates to heaven.

  • very nice job!!!! bring 'em all home

  • very nice clip, blessings to the soldiers.

  • Met alle respect voor alle gevallen kameraden uit elk land . België heeft ook gesneuvelden gehad tijdens vredesoperaties .

    Blessed Be soldiers

  • Don't mock the people doing what you are not willing to

  • How can anyone who grew up in this country not be willing to die for or at least support those who do to keep it free? fight them there or fight them here your choice

  • Being that you are Irish, I would think you would understand the emotions of this video post. Ireland has seen many battles, internally and externally. Your response is weak. You say you are not willing to take orders from a chimp. Its not as simple as taking orders. Its called pride and love of country. Most Irishmen understand this. You obviously don't. BTW I am an Irish American who will always fight for my country when called upon, the U.S.A or Ireland.

  • You're Irish huh? Good for you, so am I. Now look, you don't know SHIT about this country - because if you did you would have more respect for someone paying tribute to the dead - so have some class boyo. BTW, send me your address and the next time I'm in Mayo, I'll drop by and we can have a "chat" about your moronic comment about "Americans lacking reason" - or is that just some prissy jab from an academic Parnell wannabee?

  • being scotish means holdin a eternal sorrow for you people who died fighting in waht the belive in it is a hevy berden knowing you clan was slaughter and yuo live in guilt that you are alive and your people are dead

  • my father is going to iraq and he asked me if he he does not come back he told to remeber the all the fallen hero and him when i here the bag pipes and remebers my fore fothers who died by the the sword and bullet

  • This is very moving, nice job on the compilation of pictures...God Bless the troops

  • Thank you..and thank you my fallen comrades.

  • God bless you chaps! Much repect

  • Should say respect

  • The music is the atmospheric "Sergeant McKenzie". A Fifer from the last ancient Kingdom in Scotland, Fife, and a proud man he was even on his death at the hands of a German rifleman. This took place I believe on the Fields of Flander, during the first world war. God Bless his soul. The word Grund, indicating ground is a dead give away as to his roots in Fife. Reputed to be the most course of the Scottish dialects.

  • I may add, for doubters, that my Grandfather, also a Fifer from Kirkcaldy, was a Seaforth Highlander and gave his life on the beaches of Salerno, during the Second world war. This music holds a piece of my heart, which I hold dearly to me.

  • In memory of Sgt. Charles Stuart MacKenzie

    Seaforth Highlanders

Who along with many others gave up his life

So that we can live free

  • and it is Scottish

  • Thanks to who ever posted this video...I saw myself paying my final respects to a true USMC warrior...and I loved the music regardless of where it's from...some of ya'll are stressing too much on that topic...go enjoy life or something:)

    -Semper Fi
