I believe that, creativity is a directed randomness, look at evolution, at how beautiful the designs on a butterfly are, but these designs were selected by evolution against previous random designs which did not improve the survivability of this butterfly. Now if you were an artist, and you drew some of these designs, some people would call you creative/imaginative. So, our brains are random, but they learn/bias themselves towards more desirable outcomes, like biasing knowledge to improve tech.

The connection between time (permutations) and creativity is I think interesting... you needs time to build the functionality of creativity (skills) then you need more time to grow those seeds into something.

unfortunately we have to consume so much of our limited time peeing in each other's butts, we can't realize the substance of our potential...

I think you make a great point about the brain. Sometimes I think IQ tests try to rely too much on how much knowledge people have in certain areas, when intelligence covers a wide range of many different areas.
