They did happen....there is video prof of it on the film SICKO by michael Moore. ....but as they say.....there is non so blind as those who will not see......HMMMMM thats what I thought too. If you dont want caring medical services thats your affair. Hannan is a right wing prick who is in the pockets of private medicine....we have no use for this bastard in the UK.
Hannans right to a certain extent, our National Health Service is like a bloody millstone around our necks.
But when you boil it down to life expectancy, (which is a measure of a countires health) you notice that the citizans of state funded national systems do tend to, on average, live longer by a few years, which if for instance in the case of the uk multiplied by head of population is, millions of years vs. USA
@likegrace Not really because those statistics dont take into account personal responsibility. What do I mean by personal responsibility? Americans live a much more unhealthy life style, the country is big so we drive more and we dont walk or ride bikes as much as the British. You can have the best doctors but if you don't live healthy life its not gonna help. Americans statistically because we drive more get into more car wrecks ie more deaths. They don't take into account any of these.
@likegrace Your correct, however I completely agree with Mr Hannan on the matter of the NHS and in fact I'm in favour of abolishing all public owned health care completely and I'l tell you why. I intend to lead my life in a semi healthy way (ie, fruit, veg, water and the occasional pizza, fish and chips every so often with exercise). Why should I have to pay the bills for another persons healthcare when it's there own responsibility? People who just consume junk food, alcohol, smoke....(part 1)
@likegrace (part 2).....etc, sorry but it's there own fault. They've brought it on themselves and they alone are responsible, not me or any other taxpayer. People who are born with a disability or have contracted a disease through no fault of there own (ie, genetic diseases), I feel sorry for them and most likely I'd donate some of my income to a charity that deals with that. But it's essentially the burden of the persons family.
this guy isn't even well known in the UK and David Cameron doesn't even know him that well. and david cameron said that he apologizes for Daniel Hannan's remarks because it doesn't represent the conservative's party's policy so this is once again.... FOX CRAP. FOX ISN'T NEWS
@Dtwaine He's the top of the party list in the South East, and wrote a very interesting book with MP Douglas Carswell on localism (called 'The Plan'). While Cameron may have rejected his statements on the NHS he seems to have adopted as policy the ideas about local primaries, direct democracy, and localism. So I would say he definitely knows him and his ideas. (Cameron said he supported the 'Direct Democracy' group, which Hannan co-founded)
@Dtwaine than the conservative party of the UK has their heads up their asses just like ours does. unless this guy is just fronting himself dishonestly here, but what he is describing is such a common sense conservative platform. he is absolutely dead on with what he is saying here.
Wow, a politician who quotes both Milton Friedman and C. S. Lewis in the same interview. It would have been great if he had mentioned to Hannity that he really supported Ron Paul. What a trifecta that would have been.
@throwerofturds Although I won't judge you on this, your profile says you're from Canada so I don't people over there will be quite in touch with UK politics as we are so you'll only see a very distorted version of Mr Hannan. Over here he is a joke amongst most people with any sort of sense.
If Hannan supported Obama in the Presidential Election, in full agreement with the bailout, why does he now disagee with it? If Brown had not nationalised some of the banks and borrowed more in the recession, we would be looking at a depression now.
Hannan is overlooking the 45 million American without healthcare. Compared to no healthcare insurance the NHS must look like paridise to them. Emigrate now Hannan, Fox News obviously loves you, even if Cameron's gone a bit cool.
Having read some of the comments posted previously, it must be gratifying to the Sean Hannity show organisers to know that the inhabitants of the Planet Zog have access to YouTube. For those of us mere mortals who inhabit the Earth, and live in Europe, we are happy in the knowledge that Mr. Hannan, an entirely 'straight guy', is one politician who regularly speaks enormous sense. If you do not understand him, then you have my sympathies.
Do NOT associate with those given to CHANGE!! Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil! Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is LIberty! - Proverbs
it's funny cos hannity's ignoring the other 100s of British MPs (EU or UK) who disagree with what he's saying. Hanan clearly doesn't represent the British view. Even his party supports the NHS!
@cwood4ever The BBC is impartial. The news readers never express their opinions but instead report on what is actually happening. Fox news however just shows the right wing American opinion.
@TDogg186 Riiiiight...a government-run news organization is completely impartial, of course! :D Fox News shows regularly interview left-wing pols, and hires left-wing pundits who have views that cause Fox News viewers to yell, curse, and cover our TV screens in spittle whenever we watch them. But at least we know both sides of political arguments. I still await ABC, CBS and MSNBC to demonstrate the same type of integrity. What are they afraid of?
@MuddleThrough4yrs The BBC is not government run. It is run by its self and is regulated by Ofcom, as is everything broadcast on British telly. But because the British people have to pay for the BBC the BBC must follow rules that other companies dont have to follow.
These rules mean that the BBC must broadcast shows for all age groups and audiences. Which is a good thing. To be honest the BBC1 and BBC3 are my favourite channels. And they dont have adverts like fox does.
@TDogg186 That is literally impossible. Impartial to one person is not to another. The reason why so many liberals hate Fox is that it leans towards a conservative point of view. The BBC leans to a Liberal point of view and so what, the problem with the BBC is it is run by the government so you know its bull shit. The USA has more liberal news than conservative. Why don't you ever bash CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and CBS news? HMMMM? O thats right because you agree with them so they cant be biased either.
@cwood4ever Well the BBC is not government run. It is government funded and has to comply with government rules. But it runs it self separate from the government. And in the UK conservatives are still pretty liberal. So a conservative in the UK would probably not like Fox News because it is far too Conservative and American. And i have never watched CNN, MSNBC, ABC or CBS. The UK has it's own channels so i dont really need to watch American news.
@cwood4ever Alright then. I will go watch the BBC. Because it is way better than your American Faux news! It's the most biased tv channel ever! Hannan is a no one in the UK! WE'VE NEVER SEEN HIM BEFORE!! He's a turncoat traitor who does not represent the UK. So there!
@TheRealDinner OOOOOO you spelled Fox/ Faux. Well god damn maybe after that glorious point in spelling to appear more edgy you made I will reconsider. But than again you didn't make a point just opinions which clearly are UNEDUCATED. A government run news station isn't biased? ARE YOU JOKING. You are either too stupid to debate or know better and a troll either way, you're a joke yourself and no one knows you. BYE BYE
@cwood4ever Are YOU UNEDUCATED? It's not run by the government, it's owned by the people! It's regulated by ofcom! The BBC has credibility, and doesn't have some guy who cries on TV. Hannan was barely known in the UK until this event!
This baldy bastard thinks if he can sway America against single payer it will happen in Britain but he has a snowballs chance in hell for that. AND......WE ARE WAITING FOR THIS POOF TO COME HOME. He better bend down, touch his toes and think of Britain.
If all you stupid Yanks think a health service is socialist then your hero Jesus Christ was a socialist too. When he was supposed to have perform amazing cures he did not stick bills in peoples pockets....and he was jewish....remember
@ronald2394 Jesus was no Socialist. He would never refuse anyone health care. He would never make them wait months and months for care. He would never say the medicine or procedure is too expensive like your NHS.
@miazagora .....Would he put an old lady in a cab and dump her outside another hospital like your shit hospitals do. Would he leave the dead floating in the streets of New Orleans like your shit country did.......and anyway you can stick your jesus up you ass too......he is a figment of your imagination........and I mean that in a caring way.
@ronald2394 And you call us stupid, yet you think what you get from the NHS (or DON'T get, rather) is FREE of charge. It's not. You people are in bondage. Now, with ObummerCare, so are we.
@miazagora .......Of course its not free.....who the hell said it was. We pay national insurance contributions and get our treatment. If you were over here you would be treated too....at our expence. But at least we pay a small amount weekly for the peace of mind we wont be too poor to pay. Dont bad mouth a civilised society because you dont have one. And you can keep that bastard Hannan we have no use for that chinless dork.......or you.
To tell you what kind of slime this thing called Hannity is......He is a MEP, in other words a member for his area in the UK for dealings in the EEC. He hates everything about the EEC but this dork takes the expenses (very large payments) for doing a job in an organisation he hates. So this scum takes EEC and UK taxpayers money to bring this organization down....plus selling out his own constituants for cash. This excuse for a man does anything for money.
Also every aspect of the US is already and always has been slightly socialist, you think your living in a free market eutopia, but how long has the federal reserve been around, anyway your government practically owns most of your big businesses now, if the government hadnt bailed them out youd be bankrupt and you'd have dragged the rest of the world down with you. Youd have been so pissed with capitalism youd have been begging for socialism, so ironically socialism saved America from socialism.
@hkoenig1 It hasn't always been slightly socialist in America. The government didn't bail out businesses - it bailed out UNIONS, jackass. If they hadn't bailed out the unions and banks, sure, people would have lost money and jobs, but we would probably be well on our way back to recovery now. The banks would have been absorbed by the ones that are run well, and the same for the businesses. Now, Detroit is GONE never to return. Free market rules. Up with Hayek and down with Keynes!
He is a complete cunt!..The politics of a cunt...the worldview of a cunt...The face of a cunt...The brain of a cunt...The following of a bunch of cunts!
...And he's a cunt! No but seriously...I hate these soundbite politicians that get up, state the obvious and everyone thinks they're some kind of saviour...It's how Nazi's, nationalists and fringe arseholes get elected...by making it seem they offer somethng different. The best this man has to offer is a protest vote...It's always the same in times of crisis. People hear what they want to hear.
He is by no means a true representation of the british. He is hated in the UK. He is spinning his own opinion of the NHS disingenuously, whilst the NICE story is true the drug is still available privately. NICE is an organisation to ensure that the NHS can survive, Im not saying the NHS is perfect by any means but at least it gives patients the right to treatment that they wouldn't have with insurance companies. The problem with the US isnt a lack of Dan Hannans its that you have far too many.
You see what you've done there is replied with a soundbite (It might sound catchy but when you look at what your saying its utter bullshit) If the government is the worst solution then why not scrap the army, the intelligence services, the police, welfare or schools. For some things there is a need for government healthcare is one! You fear that you are losing your identity and are becoming socialist, your not your stepping into the modern world. Welcome along America.
waterfly27 the reason the UK is low on money is not the NHS but the greedy useless Bankers that the British tax payers had to save. These are the very same people who get private healthcare as part of their job! (yes we do have private healthcare here) Why did our Banks go under? because they followed the same greedy model from the US Banks! Lets get rich quick and don't think about tomorrow.
why does no one understand that Britian is BANKRUPT, that it isn't a question of what we want but of what we can AFFORD, and that a massive welfare state with universal healthcare is a wonderful thing that requires BILLIONS of pounds we NO LONGER HAVE to run. we are BROKE! if you ran out of money you couldn't afford asprin, scale it up for the whole country!
Daniel Hannan is not representative of the majority of British people. David Cameron, his own leader, is desperately trying to distancing himself from him. Why? No party in Britain could win an eleciton after attacking the NHS. A Conservative own goal. America - this should alert you to the fact that universal and comprehensive healthacare, free at the point of use is incredibly popular and fiercely supported in the UK. Long live the NHS!!
This man not only attacks Brown but also David Cameron and the majority of the British people when he attacks our NHS. He is part of what we call the looney right and most of us don't have time for nuts like him. Same goes of the looney left in the labour party! If you need proof well Twitter crashed because of all the people saying " We love the NHS"
This man is an extremist and his views are NOT shared by his own party or the majority of the British voters
todays was funny...article on milley cirus dancing on top of ice cream vendors box and holding onto a pole....she crouched down an up and SHOCK HORROR....shes now selling pole dancing to millions of young teens.....it was kind of like looking for a needle in haystack to make a news story out of....in fact you had to pause the clip to see her crouch and that was the news....poor poor poor murdoch style...poor poor reporting....tune in to FOX if you like to laught but dont xpect news
How the hell can the US tolerate these "journalists" like Hannity and Beck that exploit the media to indulge in their naked promotion of Republican ideology ?
Impartial reporting my arse ! If any journalist on the BBC behaved the way Hannity or Beck did, they would be out of a job before the program ended. And this, from America !
what do people expect from FOX when MURDOCH runs it.....like his papers...lean totally to the right but the sad thing....we know the papers do ... its out there....but constantly constantly constantly....theres a total denial that FOX is so far to the RIGHT that it nearly completes a full circle...i watch it to laugh....especially so the deomocrats are in power...this makes them all screaming lunatics.....
So says the private school boy. Piss off to America then ya skinny greasy little wanker, don't like the healthcare (which is free btw and unlike in your arselicking America ;} ) Go fucking lick some more arseholes ya tosser!!!
No wonder you always hide in Europe, shame on you, cunt.
To ROSECROIX: But you just said it yourself: "Wealth is limited - we can't all do well, we can't all win." That's exactly what I said. I'm suggesting that capitalism gives everyone the most equal opportunity to do well. By trying to make everything fair for everyone, you reduce the amount of people that can make it in society. People become less responsible and more reliant on others to take care of them.
Capitalism helps more people than a bureaucracy. I find that to be very moral.
The American right is obsessed with political ideology and defending corporate interests. The NHS is based on the principles of universal and comprehensive care, free at the point of use and crucially not based on ability to pay - for the majority of the British people the NHS is something to be proud of. It has to be said that Hannan is thankfully not representative. Give me the NHS every time!
The problem with the American right is that they are obsessed with political ideology. Hannity does not represent the majority view in this country. Sarah Palin labelled the NHS as "evil". The principles of the NHS are universal and comprehensive, free at the point of use and crucially not based on ability to pay. Whose interests do the American right represent? Certainly not the 47 million Americans without health insurance. Give me the NHS every time.
I love to read the liberals spew their hate when shown facts. Now this guy is a "traitor?" says one liberal. Hes a "right wing nut job?" Jesus Christ people are so brain washed by state run media in the UK they cant even see the facts lol.
I live in the US, and I have had experience with the NHS and US Health Insurance.
I have insurance, and I have been denied certain types of treatment because of "preexisting conditions".
In 2005, My friends and I went to England for one week. My friend was hit by a car, and broke his arm. Though they didn't find the hit and run driver, they fixed his arm, gave him drugs, and released him for free. They took great care of him. We wouldn't do the same here for an Englishman, that's for sure.
Though in fairness to my country, our police service is of higher quality then theirs. They would have done all kinds of forensics work on that hit and run and caught the guy in the US.
Looks like Dan will be dropped by David Cameron from the European Parliament at the next European election. He's too much of a political embarassement. Never mind he's sure to make a fortune working for Fox TV.
Life can never be fair for everyone and we must accept this. If we don't, government will make life difficult for all of us. Getting government out of the babysitting business doesn't make life fairer, but it does make a bigger percentage of the population richer and it gives the rest an opportunity to be richer.
Capitalism by its nature means that if some are winning, others must be losing. Wealth is limited - we can't all do well, we can't all win. I've always seen the NHS as something of a balancer, an equitable system that restores some fairness to society. I find the US fear of 'government' irrational and bizarre, and your justification immoral.
why should an entire nation suffer to help the poor? how did those people become poor? how did the rich become rich?
let me tell you retards someting rich worked hard now they are rich. poor people were lazy now they are poor. if you dont want to be poor work hard in anything you do.
Do you think Madoff's billions are due to him working millions of times harder than a farm laborer? No he was good a good confidence trickster and would never be found out if it wasn't for the sub prime mortgages. Similarly his bankrupted investors may have worked hard all their life but are now poor and won't be able to afford health care. Are you saying this is fair?
way to go you found one man that didnt have to work hard and there are probly a hand full of others but thats it. second who cares about being fair. third just because u went and found some story to post on youtube doesnt change the fact that obama is a terrible prez and liberals and insanely stupid and worthless
I see this is a way at getting back at liberals. Make them poor, deny them health care and watch them die. It's not fair but as you hate them so much it is really what they deserve. But bail out Wall Street and their crooks when they go bankrupt because they share your political agenda.
@chrisc62 The stupidity of a few should not mean that the rest of the taxpayers bail them out. You take risks when you invest. Some do well. Some don't. If they were foolish enough to put everything they had into his scheme...too bad. It's not my problem. We have welfare and other social programs for them as "safety nets" if things get too tough. Other than that, they should be more careful with their money in the future.
This guy is a laughing stock in UK, he would never be elected to our parliament he just sits in europe, and incidently, his party take the completely opposite line to him on the NHS
That doesn't make what he says any less true. Public health care (especially in our economic crisis) is completely unfeasible. Besides what works in other countries won't necessarily work in another. Just look at US education system versus Europe. If we do get public health care and it's as good as our public education then God help us all.
they used to say the same about Ron Paul in america. now he's one of the most interviewed politicians here. both of these individuals share the same ideals.
Quite right, I'd never even heard of him. Clearly he thinks he can make a nice living as a 'commentator' in the US, spouting whatever crap they want to hear. Neither his country nor HIS PARTY agree with him. But then, he's an MEP.... as if anyone listens to them...
You seem to thing that belief in State-provided healthcare, education and workers' rights makes me some kind of radical - it doesn't. The reason that libertarian capitalism is so unpopular is that it is insane - you people believe that taxation is a heinous crime against liberty and seem to believe that infrastructure is a naturally occuring phenomenon much like the weather. Progressive taxation and State-provided help for the under-privileged is highly important.
I am of the belief that gov't provided healthcare and education are radical concepts. I do largely believe that taxation is a heinous crime.
Gov't, by its very nature seeks to grow (progressive) and gain new power and new programs every day. At some point, progressive gov't grows to a point (think pyramid schemes) that there are more folks taking from the pot than putting in...
So, according to you, we should abolish all free education and healthcare, meaning that only the upper-middle and upper classes are educated, whilst the rest of the middle class disappears and the working classes have no access to either education or healthcare.
Sounds wonderful. "Libertarian" capitalism really is just anarchism for the wealthy.
P.S. I still don't understand why you hate the State but love private corporations.
The gov't is wasteful an inefficient. The private sector does virtually EVERYTHING better than gov't.
I believe the private sector can do a better job providing education and healthcare for the population.
I dislike the state because the gov't takes my money and decides how to spend it. I like private corporations because if they have a good product/service, I choose to support them. If the corp is inefficient or delivers poor service, I do not have to give it money.
so were do the poor go to school. were do the poor get healthcare...at least with public schools everyone is on even ground ... i think we should have both public school/and private school...also....lulz...does the private sector build better roads? have better armies? have better science and tech (look at nasa and gov funded cern highest end tech in the world) srsly have compitetion between public service and private service
Gov't will always "win" over private industry because Gov't makes the laws and regulates every business. Add to that, the gov't does NOT have to follow any of the rules they make.
Hospitals/doctors lose money on medicare/medicaid patients. The gov't refuses to pay the full amount. So, doctors/hospitals pass those losses over to the privately insured patients. Private insurance companies have to pick up slack for gov't healthcare.
Larger gov't healthcare will further destroy private insrnc.
I do not agree. It is peoples own responsibility for Health Care. NHS has a growing deficit and from 2011 there is going to have to be cuts. The main reason why is because of obese, druggies, smokers, abusing the system when people work hard for it. Also the added affect of older generations living longer it is unfortunately putting more strain on the system. NHS does not work! That is Socialism, that does not work either. I should know I am a Private Medical Insurance Broker.
so the "NEW PLAN" will cost oh, 1.6 trillion, & not only will it only "HELP" ppl w/ incomes of $30k+ but as Canadians can attest, (they) come from Canada to get their MRI's, Catscans, etc.. b/c the ones the lovely Govt. use (most likely along w/ e-thing else) is delapidated worn-out heaps of scrapmetal what-more-do-ppl-need other than the TRACK RECORD OF THE FEDS.?? a picture??
"I used to be the only colo-rectal surgeon in my hospital; today I am a member of a team of four surgeons.. Ten years ago, my patients would sometimes wait over a year for treatment, and now they wait just a few weeks and even less if cancer is suspected. These achievements were enabled by the investment of extra resources "
The NHS was starved of funds when Hannons party was in government. His party are responsible for his scare stories in this ideo, IF TRUE.
Government is not the source of good. People are the source of good.
If your faith is in government programs, you will be sadly disappointed. Medicare and Medicaid are scheduled to be bankrupt in the next decade.
The current government plan will spend $62,000 per year per person health care. You can buy private insurance for an entire family for $12,000 per year.
The British health care is system is broke. The care is rationed. Women with stage 4 breast cancer receive NO treatment because the government cannot afford it.
Read some of the British written articles about wait times for certain procedures.
There are countless stories available about people from Canada, England, and France coming to the US for health care because under their government programs, they could not receive the necessary help.
Is it true that in Briton, under their government run health care system, people with advanced cancers such as breast cancer can no long get treatment because they are too expensive for the government to take care of? If it is, which is my understanding as an American who has been following this issue since the British model is pertinent to the future of American health care, then by all means the British health care system is broke.
The body that they're talking about isn't a "rationing body" filled with "government bureaucrats," as these untrustworthy LIARS say, it's an advisory body of medical experts.
"...which is my understanding as an American.."
It's hardly surprsing that so many of you Americans are misinformed with TV shows like THAT.
That's all well and good, but you never answered the question. If you have advanced breast cancer in England, can you be denied treatment? And what are the reasons for that denial, other than the fact that there isn't enough government money, therefore the system being broke?
And, btw, much of the information that I get also comes from the BBC and SKY, which, of course, AREN'T AMERICAN PROGRAMS. If you believe that information is being misused, blame the European media as well.
NO-ONE with a life threatening illness is denied treatment by he National Health Service. If, as you claim, you get your "information" from the BBC, the video WOULD be on YouTube. Post the title of the video.
The problem isn't the NHS, it's New Labour, and the Conservatives (who will win the next election) will not sort it out because they only care about the rich.
When did I say that I wanted rich people to give me their money? I said that the Tories only represent rich people (which they do), by lowering taxes for the rich and essentially reversing workers' rights e.g. minimum wage.
Does Britain have a flat tax where everyone pays the same percentage? Or do the "rich" pay a higher percentage of the taxes than the middle class and poor?
In the U.S., the top 10% of wage earners account for about 90% of the tax revenue.
The people putting the least amount in the pot are the ones screaming for others to put in more.
Again - when did I say that I wanted the rich to give me their money, and when did I say that the UK doesn't employ progressive taxation? The Conservatives, like Mr. Hannan, want a flat tax, however, as well as an end to the NHS.
I am not a socialist, syndicalist, anarchist, communist or any type of left-wing fantasist. I am a liberal (in the European, not American sense.)
The rich are taxed at a higher rate than the middle class and poor. NHS cannot stay afloat with the current level of funding.
The impression you are giving is that NHS would be solvent if the rich were taxed at an even higher rate. Is that your belief? How do you solve the NHS deficits?
My point exactly. The purpose of the State is to grow the State through gov't entitlements - give to everyone that has a good lobbyist or outstretched hand.
To play devils advocate for a moment - You wish to take money away from underprivileged women and children? You must be heartless and only interested in money!
As for anarchy for the wealthy... immigrants flock to the U.S. because you can start with nothing and become anything. Those who work hard are rewarded with success.
You claim programs for women and children are wasteful, that can easily be turned to "heartless".
No, not every immigrant ends up living big. The point is - there is a chance for prosperity. There is also a chance to fail and end up with absolutely nothing.
U.S. Medicare and Medicaid plans are running huge deficits as it is. The gov't projection for spending on healthcare is $62,000 per year per person for coverage. The gov't could buy private insurance for each person much cheaper.
I'm not for scrapping the NHS entirely - national screening and a basic A & E service would be okay. But as it is it's a monster - the biggest employer in the UK. Millions wasted on management, millions wasted on lifestyle diktats to tell us salt, drinking, smoking etc is bad for us. Millions wasted on "5 a day" Managers and Social Inclusion Consultants. It needs root and branch reform with 90% of it being sacked. It needs Drs, nurses, cleaners and pharmacists.
Hannan. Would the rationing body for your National Health Service need to make less of the kind of decisions that Hannity mentioned if the people invested more money into the service? If this kind of government spending resulted in many lives being saved, would it be money well spent? Do you think that the only time money is well spent is when a profit is being made? Do you value anything? Will you be joining the human-race anytime soon?
He said "you cannot spend your way out of recession," but Britain is now coming out of recession because our economy is growing again. Will he admit he was wrong or will he keep pushing the same old dogma? Everywhere else, except on American righ-wing propaganda shows, this guy is a kook. Have him.
TV propaganda shows like this are successfully brainwashing gullible people like you. They're trying to blame Obama for this global recession which started under the previous administration. They're diverting attention away from the actual problem itself towards fixing the problem as though the fixing of the problem IS the original problem.
uhhh, "fixing the problem"? as in turning us into good little drones to b-lieve our "carbon footprint's causing "global shamwowing"?,
as in turning our healthcare into an even bigger nightmare,? oh and as far as "IT" being "inherirted", uhhh, you really should do a little better research b-4 ya bring it to the table.
This Hannan should be invited by the Republican Party to address their next National Convention and a national television audience in America in 2012, and be given a prime time slot to do it.
We'd take Hannan, if our Constitution permitted it. Silly leftists, how are you going to pay for things once you've squeezed the last drop out of those that actually produce something? If government is paid for by taxes, and everyone is working for the government, you are taking money out of your right pocket and placing it in your left. Good luck with that.
This COWARD will only call our National Health Service a "mistake" on an American right-wing TV show. I never thought I'd hate a politician as much as I hate THAT slimey slug.
I suppose in the U.S. at the moment EVERYONE gets the treatment they need straight away at a fraction of the cost? Why isn't Hannity more concerned about THEM getting the treatment they need? Why isn't he claiming that THEY'VE been handed a death sentence by the current U.S. system? Hannon isn't doing you any favours by helping Hannity to fill your heads full of right-wing bullshit.
I hate to tell you but the NHS is a mistake, you now have a system that has completely removed personal presonsability...in 10 years the NHS wont be there...then what happens..Peaple will turn to the state again for help and hand outs instead of allowing people to form there own health care systems...
That's what I'd like to know too, considering that the health of the nation improved after the NHS was introduced. How is that "worse" for patients???

@likegrace Not really because those statistics dont take into account personal responsibility. What do I mean by personal responsibility? Americans live a much more unhealthy life style, the country is big so we drive more and we dont walk or ride bikes as much as the British. You can have the best doctors but if you don't live healthy life its not gonna help. Americans statistically because we drive more get into more car wrecks ie more deaths. They don't take into account any of these.
cwood4ever 1 year ago
@likegrace Your correct, however I completely agree with Mr Hannan on the matter of the NHS and in fact I'm in favour of abolishing all public owned health care completely and I'l tell you why. I intend to lead my life in a semi healthy way (ie, fruit, veg, water and the occasional pizza, fish and chips every so often with exercise). Why should I have to pay the bills for another persons healthcare when it's there own responsibility? People who just consume junk food, alcohol, smoke....(part 1)
Malusregnum 2 weeks ago
@likegrace (part 2).....etc, sorry but it's there own fault. They've brought it on themselves and they alone are responsible, not me or any other taxpayer. People who are born with a disability or have contracted a disease through no fault of there own (ie, genetic diseases), I feel sorry for them and most likely I'd donate some of my income to a charity that deals with that. But it's essentially the burden of the persons family.

The BBC is the Temple of polical correctness. If you want the news, you have to go online.
gerardk51 1 year ago
@TDogg186 Riiiiight...a government-run news organization is completely impartial, of course! :D Fox News shows regularly interview left-wing pols, and hires left-wing pundits who have views that cause Fox News viewers to yell, curse, and cover our TV screens in spittle whenever we watch them. But at least we know both sides of political arguments. I still await ABC, CBS and MSNBC to demonstrate the same type of integrity. What are they afraid of?
MuddleThrough4yrs 1 year ago
@MuddleThrough4yrs The BBC is not government run. It is run by its self and is regulated by Ofcom, as is everything broadcast on British telly. But because the British people have to pay for the BBC the BBC must follow rules that other companies dont have to follow.
These rules mean that the BBC must broadcast shows for all age groups and audiences. Which is a good thing. To be honest the BBC1 and BBC3 are my favourite channels. And they dont have adverts like fox does.
TDogg186 1 year ago
@TDogg186 That is literally impossible. Impartial to one person is not to another. The reason why so many liberals hate Fox is that it leans towards a conservative point of view. The BBC leans to a Liberal point of view and so what, the problem with the BBC is it is run by the government so you know its bull shit. The USA has more liberal news than conservative. Why don't you ever bash CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and CBS news? HMMMM? O thats right because you agree with them so they cant be biased either.
cwood4ever 1 year ago
@cwood4ever Well the BBC is not government run. It is government funded and has to comply with government rules. But it runs it self separate from the government. And in the UK conservatives are still pretty liberal. So a conservative in the UK would probably not like Fox News because it is far too Conservative and American. And i have never watched CNN, MSNBC, ABC or CBS. The UK has it's own channels so i dont really need to watch American news.
TDogg186 1 year ago
@cwood4ever Alright then. I will go watch the BBC. Because it is way better than your American Faux news! It's the most biased tv channel ever! Hannan is a no one in the UK! WE'VE NEVER SEEN HIM BEFORE!! He's a turncoat traitor who does not represent the UK. So there!

Youd have been so pissed with capitalism youd have been begging for socialism, so ironically socialism saved America from socialism.
hkoenig1 2 years ago
@hkoenig1 It hasn't always been slightly socialist in America. The government didn't bail out businesses - it bailed out UNIONS, jackass. If they hadn't bailed out the unions and banks, sure, people would have lost money and jobs, but we would probably be well on our way back to recovery now. The banks would have been absorbed by the ones that are run well, and the same for the businesses. Now, Detroit is GONE never to return. Free market rules. Up with Hayek and down with Keynes!

VanDoodah 2 years ago
I am of the belief that gov't provided healthcare and education are radical concepts. I do largely believe that taxation is a heinous crime.
Gov't, by its very nature seeks to grow (progressive) and gain new power and new programs every day. At some point, progressive gov't grows to a point (think pyramid schemes) that there are more folks taking from the pot than putting in...
wwwMERTHcom 2 years ago
So, according to you, we should abolish all free education and healthcare, meaning that only the upper-middle and upper classes are educated, whilst the rest of the middle class disappears and the working classes have no access to either education or healthcare.
Sounds wonderful. "Libertarian" capitalism really is just anarchism for the wealthy.
P.S. I still don't understand why you hate the State but love private corporations.
VanDoodah 2 years ago
The gov't is wasteful an inefficient. The private sector does virtually EVERYTHING better than gov't.
I believe the private sector can do a better job providing education and healthcare for the population.
I dislike the state because the gov't takes my money and decides how to spend it. I like private corporations because if they have a good product/service, I choose to support them. If the corp is inefficient or delivers poor service, I do not have to give it money.
wwwMERTHcom 2 years ago 7
so were do the poor go to school. were do the poor get healthcare...at least with public schools everyone is on even ground ... i think we should have both public school/and private school...also....lulz...does the private sector build better roads? have better armies? have better science and tech (look at nasa and gov funded cern highest end tech in the world) srsly have compitetion between public service and private service
same with healthcare
xfvkemosx 2 years ago
and in the end with this compitetion we will see what does what best gov. or private...and what is cost effective for what certian types of people.
xfvkemosx 2 years ago

Government spending is not efficient.
wwwMERTHcom 2 years ago
"Government spending is not efficient."
The British health-care system is a LOT more cost effective than the U.S. system and EVERYONE is covered.
freatork1 2 years ago
The British health care is system is broke. The care is rationed. Women with stage 4 breast cancer receive NO treatment because the government cannot afford it.
Read some of the British written articles about wait times for certain procedures.
There are countless stories available about people from Canada, England, and France coming to the US for health care because under their government programs, they could not receive the necessary help.
wwwMERTHcom 2 years ago 2
"The British health care is system is broke."
Prove it.
freatork1 2 years ago
Is it true that in Briton, under their government run health care system, people with advanced cancers such as breast cancer can no long get treatment because they are too expensive for the government to take care of? If it is, which is my understanding as an American who has been following this issue since the British model is pertinent to the future of American health care, then by all means the British health care system is broke.
goisles 2 years ago
"Is it true that..."
PROVE IT.
The body that they're talking about isn't a "rationing body" filled with "government bureaucrats," as these untrustworthy LIARS say, it's an advisory body of medical experts.
"...which is my understanding as an American.."
It's hardly surprsing that so many of you Americans are misinformed with TV shows like THAT.
freatork1 2 years ago
I think I may love you?
NaMgKCa 2 years ago
That's all well and good, but you never answered the question. If you have advanced breast cancer in England, can you be denied treatment? And what are the reasons for that denial, other than the fact that there isn't enough government money, therefore the system being broke?
And, btw, much of the information that I get also comes from the BBC and SKY, which, of course, AREN'T AMERICAN PROGRAMS. If you believe that information is being misused, blame the European media as well.
goisles 2 years ago
NO-ONE with a life threatening illness is denied treatment by he National Health Service. If, as you claim, you get your "information" from the BBC, the video WOULD be on YouTube. Post the title of the video.

The problem isn't the NHS, it's New Labour, and the Conservatives (who will win the next election) will not sort it out because they only care about the rich.
VanDoodah 2 years ago
20 million plus in NHS deficits are not a problem?
You blame the rich for not giving YOU more of THEIR money?
Really? Tell you what, send me all of your money. I know some people that are in need. They could use your funds to help them.
Please let me know when you are ready to transfer the funds.
wwwMERTHcom 2 years ago
£20,000,000? HAHAHA. That's fucking nothing.
When did I say that I wanted rich people to give me their money? I said that the Tories only represent rich people (which they do), by lowering taxes for the rich and essentially reversing workers' rights e.g. minimum wage.
VanDoodah 2 years ago
Does Britain have a flat tax where everyone pays the same percentage? Or do the "rich" pay a higher percentage of the taxes than the middle class and poor?
In the U.S., the top 10% of wage earners account for about 90% of the tax revenue.
The people putting the least amount in the pot are the ones screaming for others to put in more.
wwwMERTHcom 2 years ago
Again - when did I say that I wanted the rich to give me their money, and when did I say that the UK doesn't employ progressive taxation? The Conservatives, like Mr. Hannan, want a flat tax, however, as well as an end to the NHS.
I am not a socialist, syndicalist, anarchist, communist or any type of left-wing fantasist. I am a liberal (in the European, not American sense.)
VanDoodah 2 years ago
I am just trying to understand your p.o.v.
The rich are taxed at a higher rate than the middle class and poor. NHS cannot stay afloat with the current level of funding.
The impression you are giving is that NHS would be solvent if the rich were taxed at an even higher rate. Is that your belief? How do you solve the NHS deficits?
wwwMERTHcom 2 years ago
"How do you solve the NHS deficits?"
Stop wasting money on pointless schemes and departments e.g. the ministry for women and the ministry for children. Labour are wasteful bureaucrats.
VanDoodah 2 years ago
My point exactly. The purpose of the State is to grow the State through gov't entitlements - give to everyone that has a good lobbyist or outstretched hand.
To play devils advocate for a moment - You wish to take money away from underprivileged women and children? You must be heartless and only interested in money!
As for anarchy for the wealthy... immigrants flock to the U.S. because you can start with nothing and become anything. Those who work hard are rewarded with success.
wwwMERTHcom 2 years ago
"You wish to take money away from underprivileged women and children?"
No. Where did I say that? I gave two examples of useless and wasteful departments which we could get rid of in order to better fund the NHS.
"Those who work hard are rewarded with success."
Nice myth. I suppose all hard-working immigrants end up living the high life, do they? HAHAHAHA.
VanDoodah 2 years ago
You claim programs for women and children are wasteful, that can easily be turned to "heartless".
No, not every immigrant ends up living big. The point is - there is a chance for prosperity. There is also a chance to fail and end up with absolutely nothing.
U.S. Medicare and Medicaid plans are running huge deficits as it is. The gov't projection for spending on healthcare is $62,000 per year per person for coverage. The gov't could buy private insurance for each person much cheaper.
wwwMERTHcom 2 years ago
"You claim programs for women and children are wasteful, that can easily be turned to "heartless"."
A) Explain why and how.
B) If that is indeed the case, then why no ministry for men?
You know full well that private charity and healthcare isn't enough to help the poor. It's voodoo economics.
VanDoodah 2 years ago
I'm not for scrapping the NHS entirely - national screening and a basic A & E service would be okay. But as it is it's a monster - the biggest employer in the UK. Millions wasted on management, millions wasted on lifestyle diktats to tell us salt, drinking, smoking etc is bad for us. Millions wasted on "5 a day" Managers and Social Inclusion Consultants. It needs root and branch reform with 90% of it being sacked. It needs Drs, nurses, cleaners and pharmacists.
JamesBurrTV 2 years ago
Will you be joining the human-race anytime soon?
freatork1 2 years ago
How much money needs to be invested for the service to succeed? How do you plan to raise the money?

He said "you cannot spend your way out of recession," but Britain is now coming out of recession because our economy is growing again. Will he admit he was wrong or will he keep pushing the same old dogma? Everywhere else, except on American righ-wing propaganda shows, this guy is a kook. Have him.
freatork1 2 years ago
thats b/c the "Majority" is brainwashed, what kind of "Growing" are we speakn' of?, btw?
gofucoffee 2 years ago
"...the "Majority" is brainwashed..."
TV propaganda shows like this are successfully brainwashing gullible people like you. They're trying to blame Obama for this global recession which started under the previous administration. They're diverting attention away from the actual problem itself towards fixing the problem as though the fixing of the problem IS the original problem.
freatork1 2 years ago
uhhh, "fixing the problem"? as in turning us into good little drones to b-lieve our "carbon footprint's causing "global shamwowing"?,
as in turning our healthcare into an even bigger nightmare,? oh and as far as "IT" being "inherirted", uhhh, you really should do a little better research b-4 ya bring it to the table.

HANNAN IS OURS KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF WE NEED HIM..hehe
Elcristoph 2 years ago
We'd take Hannan, if our Constitution permitted it. Silly leftists, how are you going to pay for things once you've squeezed the last drop out of those that actually produce something? If government is paid for by taxes, and everyone is working for the government, you are taking money out of your right pocket and placing it in your left. Good luck with that.

This COWARD will only call our National Health Service a "mistake" on an American right-wing TV show. I never thought I'd hate a politician as much as I hate THAT slimey slug.
freatork1 2 years ago
You are right about one thing. He should let EVERYONE know that nationalized healthcare IS a mistake. I love this "slimey slug"
atrainwillmar 2 years ago 4
I suppose in the U.S. at the moment EVERYONE gets the treatment they need straight away at a fraction of the cost? Why isn't Hannity more concerned about THEM getting the treatment they need? Why isn't he claiming that THEY'VE been handed a death sentence by the current U.S. system? Hannon isn't doing you any favours by helping Hannity to fill your heads full of right-wing bullshit.
freatork1 2 years ago
I hate to tell you but the NHS is a mistake, you now have a system that has completely removed personal presonsability...in 10 years the NHS wont be there...then what happens..Peaple will turn to the state again for help and hand outs instead of allowing people to form there own health care systems...
Elcristoph 2 years ago
You keep your "personal responsibility" and I'll keep my health service.

what does "worse" mean? @ 5:15?
gofucoffee 2 years ago
That's what I'd like to know too, considering that the health of the nation improved after the NHS was introduced. How is that "worse" for patients???
freatork1 2 years ago
It was improving before the NHS was introduced. And it would have continued to improve even had it not been introduced.
