  • i hope it.s 1299 dollar

  • how match plz

  • At 5:04 you change the aperture, yet I see you set it to f/1.7. Doesn't the Zeiss lens you are using only go to an aperture of f/1.8?

  • @g1234538 Yes, this was a bug with the pre-production camera and lens we were using.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • it is very hard to get an audience on youtube especially for new channels.

although everyone is writing 'check out my channel', i think you should do that (i do that aswell) because the videos might be really good although no one is watching them.

so: check out my channel about photography and comedy!

If you think so too: thumps up! Thank you!

  • WELL SCRIPTED..!!!!!!! every little bit if it... nice camera

  • he seriously hired a body gaurd? pussy

  • @ididyomommy lol xD

  • That lens adapter also costs about $450 retail from Sony!!! I figured that if I'm going to have to spend that much money for an adapter, that adds considerably to the cost of the camera and I might as well get the A77.

  • @CLK50000 true dat! thats what im doing!

  • cool, could i get one in white.

  • How's the shutter sound? A quiet shutter is a real asset when shooting on the sly. It's unfortunate Sony didn't go with a full articulating screen instead of this crippled version. Also in-body IS would have been a big plus when using adapted lenses.

  • Did you notice any "Rolling Shutter" or jelly affect when you was shooting video?

  • a lot of noise at ISO 6400 compared with nex-5n ._.

  • i like it

  • @battousaikicks Shame on us? Seems a bit excessive. All lenses besides Sony A lenses will be manual focus with an adaptor. You still have aperture control, however. We do not go into all the details on third party lens options with mirrorless cameras anymore, as they have all functioned the same since the Panasonic G1.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • @battousaikicks dude everyone knows that you loose auto focus; this insn't news

and its not that bad i manual focus like a boss

you can also get smart adapters that allow auto focus

  • No cons? Also, it's a bit misleading to say that you can use lenses from other brands without any drawbacks. I'd bet you lose autofocus and control of the aperture on most lenses.

  • @ibeplu if you're gonna shell $1349 on a camera like this, you better know how to do manual. if you rely solely on autofocus then you wont have as much creative control. you'd basically be paying for a really expensive and powerful point and shoot. also your aperture would be manually controlled on the lens ring itself

  • How would manual control be on 5n if compared to nex7. Is it more or less the same? Any thing cant be control by manual buttons and dials?

  • @CalvinPixels The 5n has the same manual controls, however they are selected in the menu, where the three dials of the NEX-7 allow you to control any common settings easily.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • @TheCameraStoreTV Thanks for the reply :)

  • I ll buy security officer to camera:D

  • This is funny !!!

  • mrdg12 continuing question here regarding post below:

I am in the midst of finishing selling all of my Canon gear that I spent way too much money on in the past, but became very good at learning the art of photography. I love bokeh, and I love portraits. I am really worried about the variable aperture in the NEX emount lenses.

Hope you can help out with some strong advice. Thanks!

  • @mrdg12 The LA-EA2 adaptor does a great job, but remember that you will lose a 1/3 stop of light, and the Sony A mount lenses do not have stabilization. Also, when shooting video with autofocus, the LA-EA2 fixes your aperture at F3.5.

Of course, the current Sony E mount lens line is quite small, so some a mount lenses would be a good option until the NEX lens line grows a bit. I'm not a huge fan of variable aperture zooms myself.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • Jordan or anyone who can help at TheCameraStoreTV, I am on the list with you for a call when these are in, but stressing out question I have is does one stick with the 18-55, 55-210, and 50 1.8 E Mounts that are MEANT for the NEX series, or should I truly consider the LA-EA2 and purchase something like the Sigma 17-55 f2.8, Sony 1.4 SLT, and which ever tele zoom I like? This is where I am so confused. With using the adapter, am I defeating the purpose and losing quality somehow? Please help.

  • All this camera needs is a full-frame sensor.

  • Can you please tell me what adapter you used to add the Nikon lens... there are sooooo many out there, but I guess you used a pretty good one?? Also when using the adapter with a Nikon lens would the VR still work? Thanks!!!

  • @Tidybrown74 We use a Novoflex adaptor. Unfortunately, VR is not functional with adaptors.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • hello there , nice informative review . i have one important Question .. i am planing to enter the Professional photography world . not for living of course .

i wanna know if this camera can do all the functions of a DSLR camera such as the canon 60D .

so my Question is , do U recommend this camera over canon 60D or nikon d5100 ??

please guys press like button for the rest to see it .

    thx again .

  • @drawab1 Skill, experience and technique are more important than equipment. I believe there are books on how to become a pro, and they give advice on the business-side of shooting. For the time being, I suggest you just enjoy your shooting and get more experience

Lenses with good image quality should be your 1st priority. You can fit Leica M lenses on a nex 7. Nikon users - Nikon 24/1.4g, zeiss 35/1.4, zeiss 50/2, nikon 85/1.4, Leica R 100/2.8, then a d3x. Then buy $50k medium format system!

  • @snifnscratch

i see .. thats great idea . still U didn't answer my main Question which is (( can the NEX7 perform as much as canon 60 d )) ???

i will buy some of the lenses U mentioned but still i wanna know the camera performance itself ??

    please advice

  • @drawab1 The image quality from the NEX-7 is quite a bit better than the 60D. I still like to have an optical viewfinder when shooting action, but for everything else, the NEX-7 does it all in a much more portable package.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • would it be a bad idea to give up my DSLR for this camera?

  • @jaredhayes1994 No - most dslr features are surprisingly of little use. I have a nikon d3x and have little use for most of its features. The nex 7 will do all you need, and you can fit many excellent lenses on it. DSLR`s are dinosaurs. With hindsight, I would have delayed buying my d3x and bought a nex 7 with leica m lenses. "Luminous Landscape" gave the nex 7 a wonderful review

  • whats the video like?

  • wow, the control dails in relation to the live view is great. too bad i don't like the look of it.

  • Thank you for this video! It was very helpful! What camera did you use to shoot this video?

  • Great fun review.

How does the shutter sound compared to Leica RF on being discreet?

  • Its a shame it records in AVCHD :(

  • Can it zoom with audio?

  • @yash1551 Absolutely, as long as you have a zoom lens attached.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • What camera do you use to record this video ??? Anyone ? Also what did you use to record the audio? Its so clear

  • @SoccerDudeGuy23 We shot this video with the Panasonic AF100, with a Sennheiser G3 system for the lapel mic. Any more questions, send me a message.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • Will a NEX camera ever have a full frame sensor? Looking at the nex7, the diameter of the lens mount is similar to that of full framed cameras. I known there`s more to it than lens mount diameter, but it`s a good start!

  • what's the best adaptor to put canon lenses on the nex7 if you can???

  • @YungB0211

It has just been announced today: Metabones Conorus

YouTubes refuses me to post the link, but google it

  • I think i kept on looking the security guard more than the camera review LOL

  • expensive toy.

  • the nex 7 and Leicas 35mm summilux would be my dream camera.

  • Hi, I have a Minolta 58mm f1.2. Can the sony nex 7 auto focus with that lens? Thanks

  • @shiffat As long as it is an AF Minolta lens, it will work with the LA-EA2 adaptor.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • @shiffat 58/1.2 is a minolta MD mount lens which can't use on nex-7 with auto-focus, you can use it manually with a MD-NEX(E) adaptor

  • u are a big asshole.security for saving ur sorry ass .lmao

  • hello there , nice review . i have one simple question . sony new 7 or nikon d5100 for image quality ??

i know the comparison isn't fair here , but am stuck between the two !!!

i am not professional photographer , i need camera that do the job well enough .

    thx

  • whats a goodcamera for modle shoot or dlr cameras

  • Get some environment music!

  • The problem is that many people are stuck and lost in recent technology. A great machine full of unnecessary features, and the crowd was gone. Nex week, and has developed a very nice machine. special treatment is a major piece of functionality. PhotoShop CS5 whose management and computer sony nex7 evaluate the new machine! large excess of the Canon or Nikon would expect a big fan of mainframe design photographer! Oo, but great! Nex 7 super good machine!

  • Wish I could get Paul to run around with me when I'm taking my gear into high risk areas ;) Does the Nikon adapter allow A/F and A/E?

  • @lookoutzero Dave Paul is available for any bodyguarding needs. Contact him at The Camera Store. You will have to pay travel time.

The Nikon adaptors will be manual focus and manual aperture. You can shoot in aperture priority mode though...

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • @TheCameraStoreTV two questions here : 1.- how many adapters are there available, and how is the you used called like?

2.- Is that a hot shoe on the top of the nex 7?

  • @ShitMyAssFucker 1: There are dozens of adaptors for most mounts. I use the Novoflex adaptors, they're great.

    2: Yup, it's a Minolta/Sony shoe.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • @TheCameraStoreTV wow a hot shoe¡ don't you know how can I connect my nex 3 (pretty old) to studio flash-lights? cause it has no hot shoe at all

  • leica should make a thin M like this.

  • From what I saw on dpreview, the NEX-5n has less noise at high ISO.

  • Test it i meant XD

  • How much the nex7 cost in canada? from puerto rico n we dont have it yet :( i want to rest it n cant have that opportunity!!!!

  • I was going to buy the 5n, but this is so orgasmic. The nex 7 kills the 5n almost in everyway

  • What is the size of the sensor? How is the bokeh with a large aperture lens? Says 1.8 or 2?

  • @EdoConan The NEX-7 has an APS-C size sensor. This gives you a 1.5 crop factor.

The lens we used in the video is a Zeiss 24mm F1.8, so you can check out the bokeh for yourself.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • Great preview, much more watchable than the usual hyped up sales chatter or dry technical analysis!

  • This is the camera I've been waiting for. Amazing! Going to buy this one with the sony 50mm 1/8 lens! Can't wait till it comes out! Great video guys ;)

  • I want that viewfinder on my NEX5... :(

  • What camera and filters (if any) did you use to shoot this video review please?

  • @tubey2007 We used an AF100 and just the built in ND filters. Colours were adjusted in Premiere Pro CS5.5

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • Bet Nikon are hoping for their vital partner Sony selling them some of this tech as the V1 & J1 have bombed

  • Sony NEX 7 vs Fuji x100?

  • What is the camera you are using filming test shot?

  • is it a camera made for stupid people to make stupid videos like this?

  • hahaha great preview guys

  • Who do I have to murder to get this camera?

  • do you do trade in in your store?

  • These are really good videos.

  • when do you think Sony will start to deliver NEX-7??

  • @coniehoot The word is we'll start seeing them in Canada right after Christmas.

  • what's the name of the adaptor you use? is it like an adaptor suited for sony cameras? where can i buy it?

  • How accurate is the LCD screen? As accurate as Canon DSLR's?

  • I love my Nex-3. Have all the lenses for it. What is the name of the adapter so that I can use any lens, no matter the brand? Is the NEX-7 still take E-mount lenses? I'm so invested in them.

  • @HomesOfCocoaBeach Yes, of course it does support E-mount natively.

  • Can this replace a D-SLR in a studio? I would like to shoot with external flash lights using wireless remote controlling.

  • @surflou24 Absolutely, you will just need a sync adaptor for the minolta shoe!

  • @TheCameraStoreTV That's great! Now I'm off to sell my Canon 5d mark ii. ;)

  • I keep day-dreaming about using this camera with some really crazy Leica glass.

  • You guys are giving DigitalRev a run for their money.

  • WOW I do love Sony products :) a little expensive for me but it's worth every penny if you can afford it in my op...

  • I have to know....Is there an adapter that will allow me to use my Canon lenses? Will is allow me to retain autofocus?

Also, I use radiopoppers to control my canon speedlights. Will this work on the NEX7? If so I am pre-ordering this camera pronto!

  • Question: the Full HD 1080p is achieved with line skipping or pixel binning ?

  • @makatr0n loll who cares.

  • @xxbluejay21 a lot of people do... with pixel binning you get lower noise even at high ISO

  • @makatr0n go look at the high iso videos. don't be so picky, it's never going to make a difference for you.

  • @xxbluejay21 it was a curious question since this camera is amazing even to make paid gigs, once you get it attached to a rig with mics and maybe a field monitor, because dont know if the HDMI provides live view, this on a GlideCam 2000 would be a dream!

  • nice camera but no lenses

  • Nex 7 very nice, but I'm still sooo glad I have my Seiko/Epson R-D1 digital rangefinder. It is an anolog camera with a digital sensor. All the controls are external. Way ahead of it's time as no one has cought up with it's interface even as of today.

  • Chris great review! One question does the next have live hdmi when filming? Can't seem to find a answer ? Thanks

  • nice video ... nd ya t camera is sexy though expensive!

  • If Sony comes out with more than just the 24mm Sonnar I'll be selling my 5D and the Zeiss ZE glass I have for it and moving to this system.

  • @sesopenko

    Agreed :-)

  • @sesopenko Why don't you use Nikon lenses on it?

  • Great video..great camera...which bag are you using and do you recommend it for the NEX 7 with 2 additional lenses? Thanks

  • Comment removed

  • i have the c3 i love it.. the 5n is ok the best feature about the 5n is the fps.. the touch screen is not worth it.

  • Hey, ive had a sony nex 3 for awhile and i was thinking of switching to something higher, and i was probably thinking of going for canon but now the nex-7 is out, and im kinda confused as to get this or a canon. I'm basically into street photography, so i was wondering if you could point me in the right direction?

  • @mshahtan For street shooting, I'd lean towards the NEX-7. It's much more discreet, especially with the 24mm, much quieter than a DSLR, yet is still gives you quick access to all commonly used controls. Plus, your NEX-3 lenses will fit right on.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • @TheCameraStoreTV Thanks a lot bossman!

  • 5N IS BETTER :D

  • Looks like this may win me over from DSLR! ? !

  • 2:26 AIDS lol

  • @johnxy888

first thing to come to my mind.

  • So Is The NEX-7 Out In Stores Yet ? Or Online To Buy ? If Not When Will It . Where

  • @BLINDCROW91 The NEX-7 was postponed due to the disaster in Thailand. There is still no confirmed ETA, but the camera can be pre-ordered on our site.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • Great video!

  • does it have a hotshoe also?

  • @TheGoldmusicpro You bet, a standard minolta shoe.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • @TheGoldmusicpro

    yes it does :-)

  • Excellent video, guys.

What kind of Nikon adapter you use here?

Can you send a link where I can get one?

  • @stefig1974 We used a Fotodiox Nikon G to NEX adaptor. We have them at the shop for $98.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • I WISH THE NEX-7 HAD THE SAME SENSOR AS THE 5N. I don't really need more than 5mp lol...

  • ● Oh How I want to kick that security ass!

  • Chris is yummy :)

  • Its funny how the security guy tackles the guy that came too close, and then comes back in the scene like nothing happen hahahahaaaaa! I guess im the only one that thought it was funny...

  • comparison to alpha 77 pls :)

  • That's one dirty mustache I'd like to see in 1080p , FULL HD

  • Awesome

  • Does it have image stabilization and AF motor inside the body like the Sony alpha models?

  • @snupcho Unfortunately, there is no in-body stabilization in the NEX line. As far as the AF motor, that is included in the new LAE2 adaptor. This will let all the Alpha and older minolta lenses autofocus, just like they do on a DSLR.

Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

  • @TheCameraStoreTV Thanks Jordan! I guess that makes A77 the better choice (if size is not a priority) although the mirror loses some of the light...

  • Come on why did you forget the GPS??? The only thing which is missing in this beautiful cam

  • next video you have to have a pretty girl, lose the thugs! lol great review

  • when use....lets say nikon 55mm then how much the crop factor will be after the adapter ? and which one you prefer canon 5d or this one

  • @Aldehyde74 A Nikon 55mm lens will be an 82mm equivalent field of view. The 5D II and NEX-7 are quite different cameras, the 5D II has great low light performance, and that great full frame imager, but the Sony is a better street camera due to its size, and the ability to mount almost any lens is a huge bonus.

    Jordan @ The Camera Store

  • u guy beat out digital rev any time now thier last few are bad keep it up

  • did u shoot in raw?

  • @estey96 No, RAW conversion software was unavailable as this camera has not been released, these are unedited highest quality JPEGs.

  • This camera is now in new york?

  • More informative reviews and a hint of comedy = better than Digital rev

  • Having those easy access exposure controls means this is the first camera where i can see some real value in having a big display on the back. A solid view finder though is a must for me and this camera seems to have all my needs.

  • Fun preview, entertaining presentation. More close ups of the camera would be nice. AND, a look through the eye-level finder would have been perfect.

  • so it takes video

  • HIV positive at 2:33

  • When is it launching worldwide?

  • hi, its your doctor , that needle you stepped tested positive for hiv

lose the security guard and get a frickin pair of shoes

  • I really like the way you explaining things and your style of doing video is just right for my taste. Thanks a lot, I'm looking forward to your new videos, great job!

  • it's soo expensive.. i have an nex5 .. do u think it's worth an upgrade??

  • @abslondon24 If the manual control dials, brilliant viewfinder, higher resolution, and manual movie mode appeal to you, than absolutely.

    Jordan @ The Camera Store

  • @TheCameraStoreTV thanks a lot ! really appreciate it :)

  • @abslondon24 you might as well just get a canon, i have an nex3, i dont need anything more. if i wanna shoot in 1080p, which i never do, ill just get a camcorder.

  • @abslondon24

it really all depends on how you are wanting to use it. Do you want a built in EVF, more megapixels, and comparable ISO performance? get the 7

do you want a simple, cheap alternative that takes great pictures but has a lack of full manual controls? stay with the 5, or IMO, upgrade to the 5n.

  • This camera looks pretty interesting!
