haha you call that rusty? That was awesome! I have watched a lot of videos on him and he is all around amazing :) I can't wait to see him compete for the US.
He didn't do a thomas full; he did a plain thomas.
I'll have to take a look at how this was scored; technically, he should not have gotten credit for the thomas, as he had already done two skills taking off from the feet and landing on the hands (dive roll and shushunova) -- the rules say that only two such skills are allowed in a routine.
That aside, this was a very impressive routine, and was all the more impressive to see in person.
Saltocafe, do you videos of his Visa Cup routines?
A Yurchenko is a Vault and is not banned. He did preform a Thomas full on floor which is now banned due to all the life threatening injuries sustained through out the years. Jesus.
hello Ropegirl6272 nop i cant copmete on visa becouse i am not a citenzend yet , i will be back on the competition floor on vegas 4 winter cup thank you to everyone 4 you support charlie tamayo
Yes, he was the first to preform the Tamayo, but isn't doing it yet because he is only been seriously training again for a short time. He has a great coach, and they are pacing things because he may not be able to get citizenship until 2011, so it doesn't make sense to have him at top form/difficulty right now.
I'm a huge fan of Charlie Tamayo, and when calculating the A-score of his routine, I realized he's being gyped of .5 due to a compositional error. Due to the arabian double front is done as his dismount, it qualifies as the dismount requirement and NOT the Group IV requirement. If Charlie were to switch his first and last pass, he would come out .5 higher. I hope this proves helpful and look forward to seeing him hopefully get those points he deserves.
So, he qualified for the Visa Championships? I checked the USA Gymnastics website, and it didn't list him as one of the ones that qualified at the National Qualifier...did he qualify some other way?
wow...never heard of or seen this guy but hes fuckin awesome...

Charlie, it was a real treat to meet you in person at this meet and see your routines. The double-double at the beginning was especially beautiful.
Is any progress being made on your citizenship? I mean, are there signs that you'll eventually get it or are you still in limbo?

P.S. He's already at a 5.6, but a 6.1 is WORLD CLASS!
P.S.S. Is he the first to perform the tamayo (double arabian layout) or was that some predecessor of his? Why is he not competing it? :(

He needs to do triple twisting double! Double double looks like a forward roll for him, plus the triple double is a G so he'll get .2 extra

he still has to land it lol.

They are letting him compete for experience, but is not allowed to win awards until he is an official US citizen.
