He is listed as "William Ridle" and next to him on the list is "Moses Ridle (Indian)."

This colony also went to live with the Hatteras. When I go to Newmans Ridge, I'm careful not to mention the "m" word unless somebody else brings it up first. It's mostly the older folks who dont like it, and it's more from the word's implications than it's meaning. Because nobody knows what it means. There's alot of evidence emerging that the word may have been used as a political slur early on, especially by the Whig Party. They'd slander opponents by calling them mongrels and "eboshins", whether racial mixture was true or not.
