  • Here's the explanation: the BBC had experienced a major power failure the previous evening and so a teletext data generator had been turned off automatically at that point so what happened next was that another teletext generator was in use to facilitate the broadcasts.

  • nice intro :) ceefax i love it!!!

  • Possibly Michaela Saunders Announcing

  • Or Jumoke Fashola

  • the woman was tired and the ceefax needs to restart

  • You can also hear her trying not to laugh at the end there can't you? Either that or it's happy relief at being able to conceal it.

  • Clever way to conceal a problem there!

  • Why did they remove the clock? or not make it move? To save energy resouces?

  • I assume that whatever it was that displayed the Ceefax pages needed rebooting!

  • same ere.

  • that ain't a problem i was up all night watching and waiting

  • Actually I don't like the BBC2 idents we have now, they have begun to bore me. I still like seeing them a little but compaired to previous idents they are bad. . . all yellow whether as the ones from 1991 and the ones from 1997 had all different backgrounds whether as the ones from 2001 have all the same backgrounds,; yellow :s

  • Funny how the BBC tried to make it look as if this "Ceefax break" was planned! Excellent clip.

  • It probably was, they often showed it between close down and the start of the Learning Zone

  • Awww lol, still like the number 2 ident we have now
