I had ones of his buddys b&s it for me to a 502. Ive been driving it to work and im getting about 7-9mpg! I have not haul much with it yet cuz im scared to take her off road but i have a gooseneck in the bed for my trailor. My est is 5-6 mpg with it! You putting a 6.5 it a 72 will need alot of mod and working with it. I think...

@Laprise202 Well a Duramax is more expensive, more reliable and better torque than a cummins. Duramax is you way to go. I got 81k on my 06. Not 1 problem in 5 years. My dad has a 08 Cummins not sure what liter but I got much more pick up, torgue and just over all power. You cant beat an allison. I got an allison in my 06. I wish I did in my 72 but I already had a tranny with less than 20k on it before the restore so i just put it back in.

@Laprise202 Have you looked in to the GM 327 SB. The ratings are 11-17MPG and the price is quite low. I was at the store today and a guy had a 69 Chevelle. He had a 327 with a Dbl tap. He said horse. Torque may be lower but getter mpg the a cummins.
