extremely kinky but at the same time demands the bizarre visualization of a "cleaning" substance! pure catholic tension! brilliant spin on the catholic mindset!
The bullet proof barrior is proof positive the faith they claim is a fraud on the masses.
Their stated goal is to stay pure for the next lifes reward to come, so why do they delay the possible earlier reward you unfaithful pope?
But then they are those that have avowed to be life long sinners as Celibates violating a damned commandment from their god. Is this an example of bad trees leading the bad fruit all these centuries? Systemic harboring of felons,,, is not good fruit.
Can’t believe the hysteria around the pope and Catholicism. The guy, and his dying church, have no power. It's not like religious militia patrol the streets and force us to say novenas; it's not like abortion, homosexuaity, and contraception are illegal.
The vast majority of the leaders and media figures of the current religious right in America are Catholic. They're the interests putting the most backing behind the Tea Party (inc,) movement. I wish it were dying, but in America, it seems to be filling the idiot's need for Wahhabi-like authoritarianism.
@thes0rleymussed Unfortunately they do have considerable influence in the world. The papal bull prohibiting the use of condoms is an example. There are millions of catholics in sub-saharan africa who evidently would rather risk dying of AIDS than wearing a johnny and going to hell.
@yeahwotevaman Yeah because the real reason men don't wear condoms is because the pope says so........ but hang on wasn't there something about being faithful to your partner, which if followed would in all likelihood mean you wouldn't get AIDS in the first place and so not be in a position to infect your spouse or indeed your children. But hey that's just crazy talk!
@yeahwotevaman "Meanwhile back in the real world..." people die every day from STDs despite the widespread availabilty of condoms. And despite the ease of availability of barrier and oral contraception non lethal STDs and abortion rates are on the increase in the 'civilised' West. People want the freedoms but aren't too keen on the resposibility that comes with them.
Switch on the TV and listen to the fawning nonsense about the pope without any real opposition to it. Religion is on the rise again, given that people will have to rely on it in the future since the tories are dismantling the welfare state it's a good time to be setting the ground rules for letting the usurpers back into public life.
@gratex And your moral authority for establishing some ground rules would be based on what exactly? I resisted the urge to throw 'objective' in there 'cause I know you hate that :)
@gratex In a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic society I would most certainly agree, but that is just opinion. Democracies can still be oppressive; you still have that old 'tyrrany of the majority' looming large. So who gets to decide what the rules are and why should I listen to them?
I don't actually like democracy, as you should know, but this line of questioning by yourself is patently ridiculous: should we bow to the Vatican? Because democracy is imperfect one should not criticise theocracy?
@gratex I never suggested bowing to the Vatican. I'm merely asking who is establishing these ground rules you were talking about and why should anyone adhere/abide/pay any attention to them? You are a relativist but still think in terms of 'shoulds' it seems to me. I'm just trying to figure out why.
er because systems can be related, compared if you will in a relativistic system. Something is better in comparison to something else. A democractic system is considerably better than a system of idolatry of some randomly selected autocrat like under all theocracies.
@gratex Comparisons based on what though? What's the baseline, utility? functinality? freedom of the individual? personal preference?..... Is there a baseline everyone 'should' refer to?
no, do you want me to argue that some perfect system exists or that there is some correct perspective? Politics has always been and will likely always be a battle of wills, if first we admit that then we build an immunity to absolutist rule of any ideology, which can be argued to be a positive thing in increasing the amount of freedom any human being can experience.
love the title, btw...Rope-A-Pope...

Education has forced the Catholics into Africa to find poor, illiterate and uneducated
converts to replace the losses in Europe.
Like Islam they really want the good old days (the Dark Ages) back.
They failed to notice that there aren't any priests in the "mad Max saga"
