  • That was edifying. xD Hmm, but the way you talk, it reminds me of Kevin from Home Alone 1&2

  • I like how u wink at the end :3 lol

  • personally, i think a 20 year old is not necessarily more mature or more wise as a 15 year old.

but i KNOW that that 20 year old is more mature and wise than when he or she was 15.

  • @heyyguesswhat Very well said.

  • when you can start to drink achole in Australia is 21 not 18

  • "i'd still call you a kid if you're full of ignorance in the way you speak and think."

you'd use the term 'kid' rather than 'ignorant'? cuz i don't believe those terms are synonymous. otherwise, i agree with everything else you've said. ageism is a load of horse manure.

  • @uglyuke Oh, I'd still call them ignorant. Honestly, I don't use the word "kid" very often but, in my head, there's a difference between a "kid" and a "child".

I was just using kid as an example.

  • Someone who has sense.... ^^

  • You Make An Ass Of You and Me for ASSUME?! Really?!!

See, when you're old enough you'll realize just how unoriginal and TIRED that cliche is.

  • @BareLegsHeaven It's called a "cliche" for a reason.

It's like saying, "You'll realize how BIG and FURRY that bear is".

    Oh no shit, Sherlock.

  • @pokeeuge Awww cute...a retort.

  • I wish I could express myself with words in such a magnificent manner as you do. It's so incredibly difficult to be given a question and to know the answer within your being, but not be able to vocalize it or write it out. As of right now, I'm having difficulty expressing the difficulty that I'm experiencing right now. It's always nice to watch your videos and have you put together my ideas in such an educated and knowledgable way. It gives me hope for my own eloquence. Thank you.

  • @Kissiq1618 So you are conceding, then, that as far as absolute wisdom goes, you cannot compare to an older person, and that your entire argument here is only dealing with "relative wisdom". That certainly makes things simpler - I'll say I agree with you, in that case.

  • When you said age is but a number i thought you were going to talk about couples and age difference. But you are so deep the way you portray your views. I respect you so much :]

  • wisest person i know in her 20's awesommmee .

  • Unfortunately I'm not young enough to know everything.

  • @nameforaccountplz I sure am glad that someone knows more about me than I do.

  • u're from alberta? what city?

  • මේයාට 18 දෙව්යනේ මම හිතුවේ 8 කියලා Oh MY GOSH

  • Comment removed

  • you remind me of amber from f(x)

and your hair is awesome, that is all.

  • OH MY GOSH... UR 19?!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?

  • not that it matters, but howold are u anyway?

  • "assume is to make an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'" lol lol do you watch 8 simple rules? because they say that on there haha! Man! I love watching your videos! You're really interesting to listen to/watch...as weird as that must sound! xD

  • i feel people who judge me because of my age, dnt really understand what the difference is anyway. people who think like that let age limit them in some hendering way. now to tell the truth it depends on what it is i have to say.

  • i really agree, very much, i think so as well. people who tell me im too young to have experienced anything is an a-hole, and have nothing better to say.

  • You are very right on this topic. Ill be sure to show a couple of my friends your video because it sounds like it would put alot of sense into them about their views on my age.

  • oh dude for 10 seconds i taught you were a girl sorry

  • This Kid HAs A Point TBF! :D x

  • @pokeeuge

I'm curious...do you expect not to be any wiser or more experienced at all than you are now when you reach 40? 55? 70?

And if you do expect to be wiser and more experienced, how, for example, would the 55-year-old you then explain to your 19 year old self the reason why you are wiser and more experienced without mentioning the difference in age?

    Just curious..

  • @jgordon700 I don't really expect much, withal honesty. I'm guessing, with circumstances of moving out and all that, or getting an actual career, yeah, there'd be new experiences, but that just all comes with time and the opportunities of fortune/misfortune.

Even if I expected it, I wouldn't need to explain it or even mention age. I was just given such experiences..they weren't given in chronological order, they were just there at that time.

  • @pokeeuge

So true. I mean at my job. I've noticed a lot of older people thinks that they can treat me any kind of way. And well....I've tried to be nice and all. There's some that is nice but, there's some that is ignorant and thinking that they know everything. It pretty much angers me now.

  • @Vf5rules1 I tend to just tell people who are older and believe they are wiser than me, that, "If you were as wise as you thought you were, you'd know that age doesn't define anything."

If they have some form of an argument, chances are, it's going to falter when you bring up other realistic circumstances that don't pertain to their life at all.

  • Damn u sound smart as hell

  • And your age please? MMMMMMMmmmmmmm ,,,,,,twelve? Just more wasted space on the u-tube mainframe,,,,, don't you have a lawn to cut or something productive to do in your teenage years? When you can grow a beard and chew tobacco then I might listen,,,,, but probably not..... hey I think CNN is lookin for a youth spokesperson,,,,,you might give them a call if mom will let you use the phone...BYE:)

  • Your very intelligent

  • WONDERFUL Explanation:-):-)..Thank You and Well Done:-)..

    GODBLESS:-)

  • you said that someone can be a certain age and yet still be immature and not act there age therefor age is just a number and does not matter, only the experiences matter and opinions and other stuff. but you forgot that although some people may seem immature and they may seem to have a closed mind ,you are just seeing what your seeing they could be a completely different person to what you see on their exterior,in the way they talk, attitude.etc this issue is more complex than your explanation

  • @jordanalexander1992 However given that a part of them exhumes what they wish to normally hide DOES say something about their character, regardless.

  • @pokeeuge

i understand your trying to say that age doesnt bind you to the sterotypical age

but if you didn't know that they were hiding these characteristics how would ypu know what it says about them? your only going off what you see and not what you don't see and if you didn't see this side to them then you wouldn't know what it says about them.this vlog isn't about age it's about perception :)

  • @jordanalexander1992 True, though that would actually require you to really know the person/meet them/talk to them. As a first impression (dressing style, age/looking-age, walk, etc); however, at least take the time to see others, at least past their impressions.

It is about perception, just that the filter for it is through age.

  • lol.. how old are you?.....

  • you rock!

  • You speak more than you learn and listen, it is obvious in your speech.

Why? Mainly because you contradict yourself, you speak of stubborness, while you wont even take an open mind when others comment on your videos

  • @MrBombr Example of these comments. All about examples here.

  • @MrBombr Even better though, if you wanted to point out how I tell people to believe what you want to believe in, and then I'm talking about beliefs and whatnot, sorry you missed it, but I already admitted it. I also very much say that my videos are advice...not some form of dictation. But whatever you want.

  • i guess you can say that guys wont know how it feels to give birth, but doctors say the closest thing to it is kidney stones. depending on how savior the case and how big they are, not only is it painful but birth may last for hours kidney stones can last for weeks maybe months. im not saying it is equal in pain because i can never give birth and i can only go by what people tell me on kidney stones and wont be able to compare the two.

  • @BlackXMetalXTech Size of a peanut and the round ones.

Keep in mind, birth can reach complications, and the need of a c section would then add in the soreness of surgery. Plus a whole lotta other things while being pregnant and all.

Let's hope you never get kidney stones and I won't have to give birth :p

  • are you a guy or a chick. i cant tell by how you look

  • i have to say, you have great videos! seriously, you are really wise, i mean yes like you mentioned age doesn't measure our wisdom and i strongly agree with that. well, keep up the good work. can't wait for your next video.

  • @Jamescy Thank you very much :]

  • you talk good

  • you obviesly have brains ... but i really thought u wherea guy at first .. sry xD

  • You are so so inspiring. I really like your videos. ^^

  • this is awsome:) for some reason its help to me tnx to you. more power!!!

  • That was one of the most deep and awesome discussion I've ever heard.

  • wow that would be very interesting to be in a class with you

  • right you comment is actually what i was saying...which is contrary to what you prevoiusly stated.... knowledge and intelligence work in tandem to obtain understanding... and wisdom is a totality of understandings. however the reactants that make understanding... have no similarity.... understanding is a composite... as is wisdom.

  • The only place she wrote "similar" was in stating how a 19 year old could have the same understanding..

It seems that from then on, you kept twisting her words or you honestly can't read..she's been stressing her idea from the start that everything is a component of each other. You can't have one without the other.

  • Please come back when you can get over your ego and actually learn to "understand" anything before you disrespect me, along with backtracking your statements and pretty much reiterating what I said in the video. Your ignorance astounds me to no end and, sorry, I don't have time to explain what i've already said. Good day.

Oh, and to your right is a button for reply. Learn how to use it.

  • Comment removed

  • you argued that because understanding was comprised of knowledge and intelligence.. that knowledge must be similar to understanding... and as you just realized it is not

  • I never said it was similar, I said it was a function of, which means that knowledge and intelligence play a part.

Where the hell have I said they are similar?

I said that because it plays a part, understanding can not be achieved without knowledge and intelligence, and wisdom cannot be achieve without understanding.

Either you don't know how to read, or you are very very confused.

  • Comment removed

  • also i don't think you understand the concept of function... not to mention its fallacious reasoning.

  • knowledge and understanding are completely different... thats like saying a home has two factors that contribute to its completion workers and materials... and that the materials are similar to the home and that the workers are similar to home... intelligence and knowledge are the omega and alpha... the product can't be similar to elements that constructed it... i can see your reasoning... that because they work in tandem they must share some similarity with the product.. but no

  • I am aware that they are different.

But with your home concept, if you don't have one necessary material, you cannot have the final product. Therefore knowledge is a function of understanding. If you don't have knowledge, you don't have understanding. If you don't have understanding, you don't have wisdom.

They don't have to be similar to the product to play a part.

  • and knowledge is different then understanding... understanding is the contextual application of knowledge and intelligence.. wisdom is a totality of understandings.. an ultimate sway of perception... a deconstructive tool.. an eye glass used to analyze situations and extrapolate things we find important... a monk locked in a closet who holds parochial views is wise.. maybe not in way you can relate to...there is no right experience

  • Comment removed

  • and as for the "right" experiences... we are all wise in different ways... even those who are parochial are wise (wisdom is different then knowledge by the way).. but the degree of wisdom is bound by time spent on this earth... sure you can argue a 80 year old hermit isn't as wise a 19 year... who has ventured and seen the world.. he might not be wise in a way relatable to you and me... but he is wise... he as a wealth of understanding... experiences don't need to involve other people.

  • But how is his "wealth of understanding" comparable to that of a 19 year old? A 19 year old can have the similar understandings.

I agree that understanding is the application of knowledge and intelligence therefore knowledge and understanding are not completely different. Through knowledge, you gain understanding to be able to make informed decisions and to be more open about the world around you. Wisdom, if a function of understanding, is therefore also a function of knowledge.

  • Comment removed

  • and please don't pull the relativity argument.

  • dear god... you won't stop... you are wrong once again... knowledge comes with time.... knowledge coupled with intelligence allows for understanding.... a 75 year old monk is more wise then you!.... this is exactly what someone who lacks wisdom feels... the irony of your claim is literally laughable.

  • Knowledge comes with the right kind of experiences.

A 75 year old monk who has been locked in a closet all his life is not more wise than a 19 year old who has lived life.

Not to mention you are influenced by everything around you, if you are surrounded by ignorance your whole life, and you are 18, a 10 year old surrounded with accepting people his/her own life and taught to be accepting will definitely be more wise then you.

  • you have a good point. Your pretty wise, a lot more then most of the people i know. well keep speaking your mind and ill keep learning from you. peace

  • Thank you for everything :]

  • I love your videos dude ^^ keep them coming! big fan

  • LOL sorry to sound like a total blubbering idiot, but thank you :D

and a sense of curiosity, how did you stumble upon my youtube?

I get people showing me your vids more often than so X]

  • oo..

    thts great to kno :D

  • The metaphor you used for "naive and stupid" was very great, did you come up with that on spot? I loved it!

  • It was something I always thought about a long time ago...I didn't want to believe that people are truly stupid.

Everyone has a personality that isn't affected by anything and is truly their own, but even then, no one can be truly stupid...I don't believe that someone can truly be narrow minded by their own personality.

  • @pokeeuge Exactly! People are only narrow minded and ignorant because they have been raised that way, and because of thier experiences. It annoys me when people think that they are just stupid and can never change themselves. Anyone can change for the better if they really want to.

  • @pokeeuge Everyone has the same basic capacity for knowledge and wisdom, and while their undeniably different personality will, of course, always affect their opinions and views and mannerisms and whatever, i think that everyone, deep down, knows the truth to all of them, but simply hasn't been allowed (or won't allow themselves) to realize it.

  • @pokeeuge I think the biggest problem with humanity and our society today is that everyone - every single human being alive - is 99.8% exactly the same as every other... but everyone seems to want to focus on the .2% of our qualities and traits that are different.

  • I always get comments from some people who think that I'm way too immature as an 18-year old, personality-wise. All of the sudden it amazes them whenever I do/say something that an 18-year old "would", and it starts to get annoying. -_-

  • I know = = it's like...what would the 18 year old do...

  • who was it again got punched in the face, locked out, and disowned? savory points ms. euge. i've been round the block at least once now, but i learn much from younger folk. its a reason why i subscribe to ya- gotta keep an open mind. people, both young & old, are the best resources! i used to live in western NY and when i was 19, would go to Niagara Falls, Canada and drink it up. ahh, the bittersweet memories. did alot of permanent brain damage in those days- hope its not too obvious.. LOL

  • Friends of various places and ages.

And indeed, it's always nice to get perspective from old and new.

    LOL you're fine.

  • Ur a REALLY good talker! And very good at explaining ur point!

i enjoy ur videos and ur right, age is just a number!

  • Thank you :]

  • the wink made me lol because you were so serious then it came lol anyways yeah age doesn't matter

  • Shush.

  • wait how old are you no pun intended (did i spell that wrong)

  • 19 now

  • I love hearing your voice lol I don't know why but it's very soothing to me. XD

  • LOL why thank you..

  • Wow, I completely agree. I had to be mature since a very young age. All of my life has required me to be strong and mature. I look young for my age and people often treat me like crap because of it. They have no idea what my life has been like or is like now. They judge me by how I look or my age. They never try to get to know me. They will never understand what I've been through. You're very wise and I hope your video changes someone's opinion.

  • Glad to hear you're strong :]

And I hope so too :D

  • haha you're amazing, I've missed your rants...

  • You always have amazing things to say and you're so cool =D you really inspire me. Thank you =)

  • Thank you too :]

  • shit that's harsh.

  • who else besides me has parents who made their child hike up the grand canyon on their own 2 feet for a whole day, besides mine =P

    hahah

but i dunno... i started walking at like 1 month old so... cheah...

and i know that sounds unlikely but its true =P

im a real frek of nature.... or at lease i used to be XD

  • Lol wow haha that's crazy...least you get exercise.

  • Wow, you always say exactly what I want to, in more clear words. I'm 15 and most of the time people tell me i'm "mature for my age." But I'd rather just hear that they think I'm mature. I JUST told my mom "Age is just a number" last night. She always uses the excuse "You're the KID - you NEED to respect me." She believes that gives her the right to verbally abuse me. There are some 25 year olds that are immature and some 10 year olds that are mature. Age really doesn't matter.

  • I hate when parents do that...it's understandable, but in a way, some things they won't understand or doesn't seem to even try. Sort of like homosexuality and all.

  • Exactly, my parents think they've been through everything I have because they're older than me, but times are different from when they were young, and it's my life, different from theirs, so really they can't understand.

  • Absolutely agreed!

  • My dad died the day before valentines day this year... In a heartattack. In another country. So I skipped school and went on the plane with my mom, bro and aunt just to see him a last time. And it really hurts...

    I'm 15.

  • Very sorry to hear :[

But, honestly, at least you got to see him before he left, and I'm sure that meant all the world to him.

  • Ah~ I really understand what you're saying.

People always say I'm 14 because of how I look but I'm 18 and I'm fine with that but then they say I'm immature when I want to dress up like I'm younger. It hurts me to think that these people only think of my age and not what I've been through to make me who I am today.

  • Agreed.

  • I don't know.. Calling older people kids just cause they're ignorant is kind of disrespectful. No argument or logical understanding is going to be achieved if you're disrespectful towards the other part.

I just ignore people if they're gonna be trollin', silly, stupid or act up. Whateva!1one

I don't really care how old you are. (:

  • Ya see, the only way I would know they're ignorant is if they talked to me first.

I'm the type of person who believes that everyone is good until proven otherwise, thus, I treat everyone with respect until proven otherwise.

If they disrespect me first, then I could care less if I disrespect them and point out their flaws.

    Though that's just me :P

  • its ok cause you look like 14

  • haha simply inspirational

i swear i have to like spread your video

    around. i just love it.!!!

keep it up kk.??dude i love you haha :)

  • Haha thanks :] I really think this video should get to other people...

  • Hey, poke, do u have an Xbox, Wii, or Playstation? OR NONE? DUMDUM!

  • Wii and Playstation.

  • N00000! If u had XBL, I would have added u! :'(

  • Age is a good mesure depending on the situation. For the average man, the older he is, the more experienced and knowledgable he is. That said, there are things an older person obviously knows better than you do, but the opposite is also true.

The older a person is, the more mature he become and the more "aware" of his surrounding the person is. Again, there's always exceptions but in most case this turns out to be true.

  • The question then goes to, "What is average? What is normal?"

As I said in the video, just because the person is older doesn't guarantee that they are more mature. Depends on what your definition of maturity is, for me, it's the knowledge of knowing when to be immature and mature, and also trying to understand others, as opposed to when you're a child, you believe in what you're told.

There's exceptions, but these exceptions are not precise. Though I see where you're coming from.

  • The average is determined by society. Society decided that at 18-21, a person is an adult and thus, mature. The need for such "numbers" are to set certain "rules" in said society. In the past (in Canada or USA at least), even kids below the age of 16 would work but now it is illegal (at least where I live), because kids/teenagers should be at school. "Personal Experience" does not affect this norm, but it is common fact that some people misunderstand the purpose of Age as said in the video

  • Indeed. And, not trying to be a smartass, I just already understood that. I just found it would be too long to explain the whole background of setting 18 as the "adult age".

Thanks for your insight and discussion though, I really really appreciate it :]

  • Adding to my previous comments.

Psychology has proven that a person's personality will continue to evolve up to the age of 31 years old (average). There's a lot more reasoning behind the "Age" thing and while some people do misunderstand it's meaning (like the type of people you mentionned in the video).

You become wiser as you age, it's a fact. But your personal experiences are obviously different then others and it's that experience that makes you wiser. Again, there's always bad apples.

  • Ah that's interesting.

Though sometimes it comes to question, such as with parents and such.

You become wiser, yes, because of the time you're given to go through experiences. It's just that people (like I pointed out in the video) believe that they are guaranteed greater knowledge than those who are younger, simply because they are older.

    And of course.

  • Quite frankly, while I perform better academically and am more knowledgable in various domains than most older people that I know, as far as knowing how society/life works and all that, they are far more knowledgable than I am and I'm more likely to believe them.

Of course that knowledge is based on what they have experienced and I think that's what they are trying to say. What you seem to be referring in the video is people who are forcing opinions on you, and these guys are "the bad apples".

  • I hate the character limits......I want enough characters to write a full blog dammit!

  • I feel your pain :<

  • That'd make sense in terms of the real world, but for things such as understanding ones beliefs or life choices, and to be put down because of your age, that's just ridiculous.

Though I also know enough people my age who have probably gone through a lot more of the "real world" and the dark side of society than any "average" person would have.

Again, though, this is all circumstance. I never liked seeing the "average" people, I always liked knowing people individually (to some extent).

  • true!

  • thank you. seriously, just thank you for putting this video up.

  • another delicious rant :D

haha, after i cut my hair, ppl used to ALWAYS make fun of me for being a 9 yr old boy >.>"''

btw, it's mah birthday in....five minutes

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY ME.

  • happy birthday you :))
