Do the statistics say that ONLY men speed? No. While it is true that there are a larger number of male speeders, there are a number of females who also cause the problem. Focusing this campaign ENTIRELY on men alone is, well, sexist.

This ad shows just you out of touch the RTA are. To be honest, I don't see many P platers driving XR6 Turbo. The Commodore is right on the money, though. They are right: speed does kill, but so does inexperience, stupidity and lack of proper driver training.

This ad is good, but where are the ads like this that show women drivers putting on makeup or sending text messages while driving?? Notice how all the drivers in this ad range from what appears to be the age of 18 - late 20's? What about older drivers? I know so many 30, 40, 50 yr olds who have got no idea how to drive! Not all p platers are hoons. I dont see the point in thrashing your car and i couldn't live with the guilt of killing a pedestrian. Yes, i am a p plater.

Contrary to what a lot of posts here suggests, this is the most successful RTA campaign that's ever run. My eight year old daughter even knows the pinky sign and what it means. Every time some young hoon passes, she wiggles her pinky at me knowingly. Some boys, the emphasis being on boys, just don't get it. The comments below are testament to that.

Well, as they say, no- one ever went broke by underestimating the general public. I had myself long ago come to the conclusion that most people don't think much above their waistline, so maybe this ad IS effective. I personally don't think it is. Actually, in Canberra last week, a lesbian- looking woman and her friend walked out in front of me. I sounded the horn, as what they did was so careless and put me in a dangerous predicament. One of them made that pinkie sign at me. I just laughed.

This ad actually has nothing to do with speeding at all. The only road offense commited is the guys in the car are doing burnouts and sliding around corners. No speeding is show what-so-ever.

It's purely done for the fun of it alone, not to impress people. In this perspective we can say that any activity is only done for the purpose of "showing off." none of these guys were speeding. The first guy is doing a burnout, in the 2nd example a crazy lady is trying to commit suicide by jumping out infront of a moving car, and in the 3rd the young lad is just practising how to drift. Theres no speeding shown :S

Get a life and face the facts that these ads are often made from statistics. If you are a safe driver but feel targeted under the circumstances of age profiling then join the club. I feel the same. But that does not exclude the fact that others are giving us a bad name.
This ad is more than valid to depict the kind of people that are most dangerous on our roads.
