I have a IDV4 card and I don't get it.... when random challengers without IDV4 cards challenge me and I smoke the fucc out of them, it doesn't record a win for me :|
How much different is version 4 from version 2 or 3? I can't remember which one I play but I play the one for the PSP. I believe it's called street stage...
Different: Akagi, Akina, and Iroha are still there, but you have to brake on corners you didn't before. You have to countersteer to clear most turns though it's still unrealistic. Also, you can understeer in the middle of a corner if you go in too fast, especially before fully tuning the car which takes some getting used to. Boost is much stronger, car balancing seems a little better to me, though some are still better than others. Of course, you'd have to play it to really understand.
I have the extreme stage for PS3 and I drive an AE86 but I'm still stuck battling the last guy on irohazaka, the guy in the track racing outfit. I just need to beat him and I get to battle Bunta
Why did they remove the Bunta Challenge from this game? That is what gave Ver. 3 so much replay value, for after you beat Bunta in story mode, everyone else is a joke, so you could face Bunta multiple times and get much better at the game.
I agree that it added alot, as it was a standard to tell if you were improving. At least (in Japan, anyway) the VS mode is country-wide online VS, so there's *always* someone to battle online which is alot more fun imho. Still hate that boost is on unless *both* players turn it off though. =p
There's just one problem with that: Only the Japanese version has vs. mode. The American version doesn't have that yet (or ever). It probably will later, but that won't be until Ver. 4 is much more availible in the U.S., which will take a while, so until that happens, you're stuck with story mode. WTF!!!!!!!
atleast in this game drifting seems possible...... in stage 3 no matter how much you try it sticks to a grip run..... is there anything needed to shift the car? like countersteering and the use of under and over steer?
never mind, i watched the video again closely and other vids of this arcade and all you need to do is whip the wheel in the direction youre turning.. heh
On some corners countersteering is actually necessary--and faster than if you don't--but it's not realistic. Also certain cars will understeer on certain corners if you drive like version 3 (even with a full tuned car) so *generally* you have to at least let off the gas to finish a tight turn nicely.
i went to montreal not too long ago and they had this arcade.. i have to say its alot better than ver3... i tried whipping the wheel on hairpins and it did the trick. youre a lot better than me tho, thats for sure hehe
where is this machine. is this like a gaming place or something. it's so noisy man. were you actually drifting or is this just how they show you what it's like.
This machine is in an arcade in Kofu city of Yamanashi prefecture, which is in Japan. It is really noisy, there was a PopnMusic right next to the game machine. But the sound is off during replays anyway.
As for the drifting thing, I was driving at the time and the race is my game replay...but if you were wondering if this game simulates real drifting at all....no way; it's not like the real thing.

Sure! Bunta drives the WRX STi.
The specifics should be: Subaru Impreza WRX STi Version V Type R (GC8V)
Cheers!
