@Bakuneon: Those are great solid buses with lots of power, well-liked by many drivers that I personally know.....the only disadvantage that led to their early retirements is the fact that it is not a low-floor bus that is capable of kneeling, hence it is not considered as being politically-correct!
@Bakuneon: Supposedly it should've been Friday......but due to diesellizations on rt.4, 7, 5, 6 and 19 today, the D40s were brought back to rt.4, 7, 15 and 84. Theoratically, today would've been the last day of D40s in service in Vancouver, let's see what happens in the next couple of days.......
@Bakuneon: LOL sorry if I scared you a bit there :P I don't remember removing your comment at all, I don't know why it's "removed by author". Please post what you just said again, LOL!
I wish that Translink would start importing buses from Germany or England which make Mercedes, MAN, Neoplan, and other good, high standard buses. North American buses are ugly for the most part. Disagree? Search "Mercedes Citaro", or "Man lion's city", or "Neoplan Centroliner" on youtube, or their own private site. I was in Germany over the summer and I just couldn't get enough of those buses.
That's very true. But, just look at how Translink keeps having to send back buses because of steering problems, or loose wheels, etc. They should atleast have a few imported buses to help decide the beast way to go. If they keep buying these cheap buses, they just might end up at the scrrap yard a lot sooner.
Our Buses happen to be good Buses!..AND VERY STYLISH! my opinion of corse...BUT I would like to see some European Buses here too! Like Volvo or Scania or Mercedes-Benz and Man
Took one of these monsters to SFU/Burnaby mountain(300m above sea level), really slow, and they doors were really annoying. Not as nice as the New Flyers or Ikarus buses.
well one time i took one of these Novabus on route 33, that specific novabus back door is the exact same as the one in the New Flyer E60LFR's. the door opening noise is much more quiet. but the lowering floor, still loud as hell... i remember the bus fleet no. is N9728.

There's a typical Ecomat kickdown at 0:42 in that it shifts from 6th to 4th, holds for about 0.2 seconds then back to the 5th.

I do not like the rear interior, nor exterior, it looks out of the ordinary and just plain ugly. Other than that i guess their okay. overall: 3/10.

Novabus uses Volvo engines somehow the sound of the engine resembles the buses in HK Volvo
ShinHolyAyato 3 years ago
That's because that engine is used all over the world, perhaps not the exact same but same co.
gijoedouche 3 years ago
sorry now i know it's from Cummins engine, but teh company was occupied by Volvo.

Gotta agree with that. They're loud and they open slowly.

The Novabus works a little bit worse than others, but i like all the new buses they all look good.

Well, I'll be amazed. This bus has been in service for a little while and will be there in Vancouver for many years to come.
FamilyGuyFan2007 4 years ago
the nova buses dont rlly last long so the nova buses have to keep going through mid life overhaul to keep them in service
cactuarizamoron 2 years ago
Really. Thanks for the tip.
