if people are saying moderate to not much climbing experience is needed to summit the mountain then you are completely wrong. every there are many articles in the ADN about climbers who are killed and wounded trying to summit the mountain. It is a pretty difficult mountain to climb if you ask me.

My uncle died on Mt Mckinley in 1989, when i was 9 years old, he was just 37, and extremelly experienced. this mountain deserves respect

mckinley has the highest vertical relief of any mountain in the world above sea level. yes even everset, which isnt the tallest mountain in the world, at 33,480 ft mauna kea in hawaii is the tallest, although only 13,796 feet of it are above sea level. instead of insulting people maybe you could just share information and teach, we all know something to share with others and theres so much to learn nobody knows everything. right!! and wikipedia is not a great source for accurate information

I remember reading once that Chimborazo, a 20 some thousander in Ecuador is considered by some to be the highest mountain in the world- as it is the furthest from the Earth's center. This is because Chimbo is located near the equator- where the earth bows out some due to centripetal force from its rotation. Its amazing though to think that Hawaii is the summit of a massive mountain in the middle of the deep pacific...

Im hiking this mountain, it is 20,000 ft. everest is 29,000 ft. This is the highest mountain in the whole of the north american continent.

And it is also the tallest mountain outside the himalayas.

@TheSockPuppetShow This mountain is actually much taller than everest because everest sits on a very tall plateau. So it is actually only 15,260 feet tall while McKinley is 19,400 feet tall above its base! Height above sea level is not really a valid measurement to describe how tall a mountain is.

Are you kidding, it isn't even a 8000m peek. There are 14 mountains that have 8000m peeks. Mt. Mckinley is 6,194 m not even close.

I don't know your previous conversation on this but Mt. Mckinley is the 3rd highest of the 7 summits, which is the highest summit on each continent.
