@mpsslovak Some fans I've seen have almost no pitch and when you put a little bit more pitch and it moved a lot more air, but it was a desk fan. Anyway, just wondering!
Portable fans concentrate the air movement a bit more than ceiling fans, so that little change was probably more noticeable, but ceiling fans follow the same concept. The issue here is, the motor is already underpowered. If you increase the pitch on say, a Casablanca, buy a few degrees, the motor will be able to handle it better, and not slow down so excessively, thereby pushing more air. Don't get me wrong, it will slow down, but not as much as an already underpowered motor.

Because it was outside, in the rain, in the wind. The rain soaks in and makes the blades, sag. The wind whips the blades around and eventually they get out of whack.
oh, because i thought it was so funny at first, but then i thought darn! could they be quiet while cole the fan man makes a video of his littleton??? :P
I used to have a multi-colored version of this fan. I think I got it at Walmart. They're decent fans, though. Did you intend to put an indoor ceiling fan outside? This is what I call indirect fan abuse. What you did to that Alexis hugger was direct fan abuse.
No, I wasn't going to put an outdoor fan outside. This thing is simply for the Littleton. Both the Littleton and Alexis are common crap, (not to mention the Alexis was destroyed before I destroyed it) so I have no problem with obliterating them, at the consent of other collectors. XD
Oh...I see. Do you know what else is "common crap?" The Harbor Breeze Armitage! I got a 42" Armitage from Lowes, and I regret it. It's missing a mounting washer, and the motor housing came with a giant dent in it (where you're supposed to put one of the screws). It's also WAY too low to hang in my room. Do you know of any good fans for a room with a 7' ceiling and someone that's over six feet tall? Also, it's been a while; has that Littleton died yet?
Hmm, IDK what would be good for your application. I'd say a small scale Casablanca, say the Ventura for example, or a Panama with 42" blades. Put that on an LCA and you've got a pretty good fan. You could run it on low and get get the same air as the Armitage would put out on high, so you wouldn't have to worry about chopping an arm off to get good air movement. The Littleton is still working. I enjoy turning it on when there's snow on the blades and watching it fly off. XD
Because the blades are MDF (medium density fiberboard) they will warp and droop when exposed to excessive moisture. Because this is outside, it's been rained on and been exposed to humidity, thus really droopy blades.
Wow its nice... now its have a SLOW low speed like Casa's. OMG look at it going at high speed, that would usually be its medium speed when normal blades. I bet now its blowing as much air as a Commander Angel 52'' at full speed. XD Muhahaah! Or a Casablanca Panama. Lol!!!
It's actually an okay fan! I have one of these from 2005 just hanging on a fan brace in my unfinished basement, but it's never been turned on or anything. A screw came loose about 2 1/2 years ago, but just yesterday I put it back in :)
Rain and humidity. They're made of MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard), and moisture will do this to them. That's why it's not used on outdoor rated fans.
Yes, we've had plenty of snow, and I did it just today. The motor was frozen up at first, lol. I can't get videos to load right now, I'm trying to get the problem figured out but have not been successful thus far.
Oh, there you go then, they're Littletons. Do you know what year they're from? If they're from the 2009 lineup they're really completely absolute garbage. If they're older, they're not so bad, decent for a $20 fan.
@mpsslovak Im replacing the one in my room this weekend. idk what kind, but i got a 48" outdoor fan for free that was sitting in my neighbor's yard. im going to do some work to it before i install it though
You'll never experience the hurricane force winds of this fan with any other Littleton. This thing is so much better than those crappy Casablancas, not to mention those absolutely horrid Hunter Originals. I actually just dumped my Original in a dumpster. HA!
Oh, I forgot those. Yes, they are fantastic. Are you aware that I just installed them throughout my house? Replaced those Casablancas, they were WAY too quiet and wobble free for my tastes. I like a little bearing grind and shimmy and shake while I sleep. XD
Looks like when the blades sagged it got more pitch. I'm wondering, did it move more air?
FanOfVacuums2 6 months ago
Not really, more pitch made the fan go slower, so not much improvement on air movement.

Dafanmon2500 9 months ago
how is it half dead?
EPISLON120 9 months ago
It was pretty messed up when I removed it from my sister's house, fixed it a little before putting it out here so at least it didn't wobble too much.
mpsslovak 9 months ago
It's a cheap fan that was half dead already, why not?
mpsslovak 1 year ago
why are the blades and blabe arms so bent up and demented?
EPISLON120 1 year ago
Because it was outside, in the rain, in the wind. The rain soaks in and makes the blades, sag. The wind whips the blades around and eventually they get out of whack.

Lol, it's far worse now. One blade is about ready to go flying off, but no worries, I've got two more sets of crap MDF blades available. XD

Well then, let the ceiling fan torture continue! >)

I should get a Wal mart, build a hanginger like this, and let it sit all winter out side. LOL
MSNIMSM 2 years ago
YES! XD This one is staying out there till it dies, which shouldn't take too long. It's fun to turn it on when there's snow on the blades. =)
mpsslovak 2 years ago
Lol. I could do this to the H@rat!ge spinner in my sisters room. XD

How is the air flow on this thing? I bet it's not very good despite that it's a cheap fan!
doughnutser256 2 years ago
You guessed correct. I did over-pitch the brackets, so it's adequate, but it's really not good at all.
mpsslovak 2 years ago
To Be Honnest, This Is Better Then The
Current Littleton. I Have One Of The First Generation Models, And The Blade Arm's Are Very Very Strong.
Boxfan2008 2 years ago
This is true. The 2009 model was downgraded again, and is no longer made by SMC. Bad times.
mpsslovak 2 years ago
But now it's Chinga chong electric. =P

how did the blades get all like that?
01Delorean 2 years ago
Rain and humidity. They're made of MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard), and moisture will do this to them. That's why it's not used on outdoor rated fans.
mpsslovak 2 years ago
Because of the material that the blades are made out of, it will warp due to the outside elements like Rain, Humidity, Snow, etc.
doughnutser256 2 years ago
I must say that even with the blades as they are, it ran smoother than I expected it to :P
ZacharyDY4 2 years ago
I'm just waiting for the snow. That'll be some real entertainment. I should make a video of the snow flying off of the blades when I turn it on, lol.
mpsslovak 2 years ago
That would be entertaining, I can't wait to see that!
doughnutser256 2 years ago
have you had snow yet to do a video of it?

pcdoctor2 2 years ago

Just out of curiosity, is that fan I have a video of a Littleton, just a different design/generation?
If it is, oh no! I have 3 pieces of shit in my home!
carexpertandy 2 years ago
Looks like a Littleton, but a lot of fans look like Littletons.
Either way, your last comment is correct.
mpsslovak 2 years ago
Oh ok. They all have Hampton Bay labels on them, so they could be Littletons.

Oh, there you go then, they're Littletons. Do you know what year they're from? If they're from the 2009 lineup they're really completely absolute garbage. If they're older, they're not so bad, decent for a $20 fan.
