I run an ad on Craig'sList for Guitar/Bass Lessons and they contact me wanting 3 lessons a week, Mon, Wed, Fri, for two hours each. Anybody knows guitar lessons are 30-60 minutes a week with time for practice. Their excuse is that there was supposed to be "A second check for the "guitar student's nanny" I let them send me their fake checks-I have 37 now-and tell them that I will wire "the nanny's" fee when the funds "post to my account". Wasting their time is far better than deleting them.

I bought a suzuki gxsr on cragis list 2005 spent like 4500$ and plus i was short some cash so i gve him an axbox and a macontosh computer imac.. and i never bought nothing like that be 4 and i went behind my parents back i just turned 18 so i thought i knew everything .. and i never got the title and got scammed all the money i had =[ so im out 4500+ dollars some valuable item of mine and no bike
I almost got scammed, luckily my parents stopped me, but I contact the site called kijiji, it is where I live, its like craigslist. And I e-mailed the complain and the site blocked those scam artists off the site.
Yea I got like 5 messages saying they all happened to be on a business trip and live thousands of miles away for something they could easily but where they live common what that bull shit

wow i was sellin a bb gun off craigslist i was waiting for this 2800.00 dollar check that this guy was sendin me even tho i was sellin it for 30.00 but now i got the check today and i didnt send the item i first went to the bank and told them to c if the check was legit or fake and they said we can do that and held it for me for 11 days to c if the check clears...so yea if u get a check dont send the item just get the check checked out first then send the item
so what do i do now that i have a fake cashiers check and my gold chain is in the hands of that crook i haven't opened the envelope where the check comes, I want to open it in the police department and i want it finger printed!!!
about 4 months ago i almost got scamed out of a whight bench and nasscar tire that i was selling. the lady sead she was over seas and that the gifts were for her son in the us. i was asking for $150.00 for all. she sent me a check for $2,500.00. i took it to the bank and thay sead it was a bad check. i wroght back and told her she is a scammer and i never heard from her agan.
also they wil send you a check for way more than the item is worth or the asking price, then they will say it was a mistake and to send the difference back to them via western union. Huge scam don't become a victim, don't fall for it.
@Bubbasizer yes my wife just got involved in something like this. she advertised a exercise bike and someone emailed her. it sounded prefabbed. she wanted her address to send the money to. like a sucker, and unbeknownest to me, she gave them our address. the sale was for 55 bucks. the check arrived and was for 1850 bucks. i immediately ripped the check up and researched this scam (i knew something was very wrong). had she cashed the fake check, the bank would have held her responsible for it
Also, you HAVE to send the money back because you can't prove it is a scam until they keep the cash and the check is bad. They have the upper hand all the way.
No, no, no. You CANT assume it is a scam! If it is legit you are in BIG TROUBLE if you don't send back the money! Some people may want to get cash back off a credit card or something.
Wow! I'm selling a vintage wrestling belt and I got almost the same email. Only difference is that I was offered a money order but everything else was the same. offered more money to take it off craigslist and arraingments for pickup. I had a weird feeling about it so i searched youtube for scams and found this. Thanks dude. You saved me a lot of grief.

yeah if you cash the check and spend it then when the check bounces, the bank will take the money from you, to cover the phony check.
