If memory serves that green truck that starsky swerved to avoid is the same truck that ran hutch's ford galaxie 500 off the road in that episode 'survival'
If there ever was a Torino that screamed " I need front and rear sway bars " it was Starskys' car. It set the rocker panels on the ground like a 53 Buick. But it sounded neat. Ah 1975!

There's something I need to check with anyone who saw the show in its original run or who has the original VHS tapes - were the episodes an hour long or about 47 minutes long? I haven't managed to find a conclusive answer anywhere. I ask because I loved the few episodes I saw of this and so bought the complete Series 1-4 box set, and the episodes are 47 mins each. I'll be quite pissed if I find out they've cut 13 minutes from every single episode.
@BreakRightIntoHeaven LMAO! Are you serious? Hello, when the episodes were first broadcast, they were an hour because of commercials. There are shortened on the dvd because it is only the episodes without commercials, therefore that is about the standard length for 1 episode between 47 and 50 minutes. There is no cut footage unless the rerun tv networks cut it in their rebroadcasts.
Think about it!
You get a thumbs up though for one of the dumbest comments on this vid though.
For the record, I took into consideration the idea that commercials would have added to the overall time slot of the episodes, but some of the sources I found online stated that the episodes themselves were 60 minutes long. So no, it wasn't that obvious for me. But still, good for you. Responding to a genuine and non-arrogant question from someone who wasn't lucky enough to see the original series by being rude and patronising. Over the internet. Bet you feel pleased with yourself.
@BreakRightIntoHeaven Ok, maybe that was out of line to an obvious question but 60 minutes with commercials on tv networks back then and now but 47 to 50 minutes uncut on dvd.
@BreakRightIntoHeaven No problem, apologies for crappy original reply. This series is an oldie but sure is a goodie, even now. All the 1 hour shows i have on dvd are pretty much the same. Originally broadcast with commercials were an hour are between 47 to 50 minutes on dvd. The 1/2 hour shows I have without the commercials obviously on dvd are about 23 minutes.
Yeah, it seemed quite suspect that if the DVDs I had really were shortened edits, that they would ALL be around 47/50 minutes, there were just some sites that claimed the episodes were an hour each. No biggie. As for the show itself, hell yeah, this is TV at its finest - it gets said so much but it's true, that they don't make em' like this any more. I'm only 18 but I don't even own a TV set, just a PC so I can play some of the golden retro stuff :)
@BreakRightIntoHeaven So you are 18 and like the oldies, that is great. Just shows you know good tv. I grew up with this among others and would rather watch my dvds of the retro stuff than most crap now. Most people your age would think this is garbage. If you like the retro stuff, check out my channel, plenty of it.
Is there any one that can tell me what Starsky and Hutch are saying from 0:25 ... I do understand that they are talking about the Torino, but I didn't understand very well ! ;)
S&H always had great car chase scenes. If you watch that season, the chase was actually pulled from a previous episode called, "The Heroes", where they try to impress a beautiful blond reporter, lol
my buddy in High school moved from Enland to this country when he was 14; From watching american TV over there he thought that was how cops were over in the states; car chases and shootouts everywhere and everyday! . Made USA seem very exciting and he could not wait to come here. Very disappointed when he found out that it was not done that way
Gran Torino chasing a mustang,, Great chase. I agree with Yastunt, 70's stunt drivers were exellent. I enjoyed that, We rarely see great car chases on telly shows these days. Health and saftey do gooders say Nooooo,, you cant dooo that,,,lol. Thanks for posting, great stuff.
Celà fait très plaisir de les entendre parler en anglais car étant adulte maintenant je peux lse comprendre et connaître enfin leurs vrais voix. Un grand plaisir de voir ce passage ! Et revoir cette voiture ! Belle poursuite ; attention Hutch !
He always was talking about that car bad even though he had a clapped out ford galaxie that was basically a beat up unmarked retired police car. it even stalled out in the middle of a chase. i put the torino form the S&H movie in this ones place they would have already caught that stang!
Starsky gave it a good run, he showed he could drive and that was against a smaller and i think a little better handling car. the Torino seemed to be a little slower than that mustang, which sounded like the one from bullet. But even billy joe said" He ain't bad!" starsky says" That guy is one good driver!" Biggest difference is, billy joe obviously did nto give a crap if anyone got hurt, S&h did. one of the better chases from the entire series.
Um,correction on the 64 thing, rthere was no such thing as a 64 mustang, they came out in mid year 64 which was registered as a 65,they were nicknamed 64 1/2 but they were 65s,and also, there was fastbacks in 65.The 1966 shelby had the plexiglass window but the 2+2s had the louvered windows
Love the chase, hate the ending. Parts of this chase were originally used in an earlier episode in season 3 called "The Heros" where S & H try to impress a female journalist.
