  • Прикольный мультик!

  • fuckin chink lol

  • haha. I love this series. Thanks so much for putting in the subtitles!

  • весело резвятся ............ вот так и в реальной жизни... догадки, разгадки и т.п. ватсон крутит, как енералы нами..... спасибо за мультик, напомнил или наполнил реальную жизнь..... а чем? рассуждайте сами.

  • Hahaha, 'to give himself an alibi', that was excellent!

  • Poor Mrs. Hudson!

  • 1:17

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM HEADSHOT.

  • Best part: "Quiet, stiff!" I love how the victim keeps interjecting.

  • tihihi super!!!

  • this was completely random i was confuzzled at the end @.@

  • Бубнов вновь в деле!! мастер тонких гэгов!

  • Personally I love the scene in which Holmes tries to be told that the cook had put poison in the flesh. I bet the cook while he howled his despair, utterly insensible to these questions have thought of Holmes' Look at this moron: I ask him what poison he used and how long it is and he can not do nothing but complain. Enough!!

  • Russian style animation is awesome. I haven't watched any in 16 years. I love the running gag of the presumably 'dead' Lord, who is anything but.

  • Молодец, очень хорошое кино!!!!!!

  • Now that's what I call an upstairs maid!!!

  • YEEEEEEEEEEESSSS!!1!

  • WTH???!!!!!

  • omfg this is the funniest thing I have seen in AGES.

I was laughing so loud, I woke the whole house up XD

  • hgahahaha!!! 4:54 xD LOL!

  • Guy ritchie has nothing on this:)

  • And to think, my friend(conservative mind you) said Russia isn't known well for its art. I liked this, and I LOVED the humor implied!

  • Your friend just isn't very well-informed in the arts, then, and it has nothing to do with being conservative/liberal. Find me a professional musician who hasn't heard of Tchaikovsky or Shostakovich, or a painter who hasn't heard of Kandinsky, or an stage actor who hasn't heard of Stanislavski, or a film director who doesn't know of Eisenstein or Tarkovsky, or an animator who doesn't know of Norshteyn or Aleksandr Petrov. "Not well known" to someone who's been living in a cave, perhaps.

  • Гениально! Авторам большое спасибо! Давно так не смеялась.

  • It's lovely how it doesen't make sense from beginning to end with the dead guy talking XD is there other funny russian movies or cartoons translated to english? I did see the russian series. Gods help us, if you think the russians were disrespectful to Holmes (and I firmly deny it) look at what the americans are doing!

  • Others: search Youtube for "The Koloboks Investigate", "Pilot Brothers", "Robbery, ... Style", "A Very Blue Beard"... that's a few, anyway.

  • Actually, just "Very Blue Beard", on the channel of nadejg

  • Ну, как всегда, клево!!!И хватит поясничать всяким придурошным ублюдкам:))))))))))

  • супер, очень понравилось

  • Now I know how I could hide the pregnant ;D

  • Um. Your comment makes no sense.

  • Уахахахахахахаха, викторианский сержант с украинским акцентом:)

  • I enjoy the style of art a lot, and believe it reflects the feel of the story well. The humor and art style both retain a sense of "Attempting to be serious" (when both the characters and the author and artist seem to fully know that they're relatively silly, or eccentric)--such as when the dead sit up and say "That's not what happened!" and the detectives tell the dead person to shut up, they're dead.

  • что это была за яда? )))) Класс!

  • to the date one of the best animations iv seen, but still the animation is a little crude but the history is pure genius

  • I don't think it would have gained anything from Richard Williams-style animation, personally - the art style and type of animation is, I think, complementary to the script. Although it looks a lot nicer when you see it in its native resolution, rather than 320x240 (this video was uploaded before Youtube introduced HQ or HD).

  • i just say that the animation is crude, meaby you dont understand what im refering but a little improvement will help,

still being good, and is very good but i still dislike a little the animation

  • watson's lacey theory is awesome

  • Oh my gosh. I laughed so hard. The people in Sherlock's lodgings are invincible.

  • ahahah the first time that Lestrade has the reason xD

  • you don't say "has the reason" you say "was right" reason in english has only the other meaning.

  • No, the way he said it is possible. If it's possible to say "I have the reason for X", why not "he has the reason"?

  • amazing!

  • disturbing

  • Do you know how to speak russian and english fluently? i found a VHS with a family and a talking cat but i cant decypher anything? ill send whoever a scan of the title and a video of it

  • Что это была за яда?

There's a brilliant play on noun genders. Too bad it doesn't translate.

  • Отличные субтитры. Спасибо за видео.

  • Awesome! Thank you so much for the subtitles. I laughed the whole way through.

  • is there any more of this sherlock holmes?? this is great

  • There will be more, hopefully. Director Aleksandr Bubnov appealed to the public and his colleagues a while ago for funds to make a continuation. He's now working on the sequel, which will be released online for free once it is finished. More information (in Russian) at these two places:

    narodnoe-kino info

    bubnoff livejournal com

    (replace the spaces with dots)

  • is this cartoon recent? because a friend of mine told me that she used to watch this cartoon when she was smaller

  • It was released in 2005 (see the "animator" link in the text on the right). How young is your friend? :)

  • then this one wasnt the right one, i found another one (a tv series (1981))

  • хороший мультик

  • хороший мультик

  • yes it is

  • super!

  • cool

  • prikolno :)

  • Hitman was the real killer xDD

  • lol "Kitaiskii" baby!!!! didn't see that one coming.

  • love it

  • i think if you can speak russian it would be even more funnyer.

    trust me im russian. lol

  • I could understand everything in russian. i can speak russian, english, manderine of chinese, and hebrew. well done. although why would he suicide and kill himself?

  • hahahaha

    :D

  • Perhaps you can, however, that you speak English (poorly) is self-evident and that you speak Mandarin Chinese and Hebrew is irrelevant, leaving only one language unmentioned: the language of Hubris.

  • Learn Russian, you asshole!

    its rather well translated

  • very nice, Sherlock Holmes is the best

  • nice

  • I like it!!!!

    I want more!!!

  • Не разучились все-таки делать классные фильмы, пусть и мульт! Смеялся до упаду. 5 баллов!

  • so funny

  • hahahaha very funny!

  • I really liked it, thank you for the subtitles.

  • thoroughly entertaining :)

Russian is so funny although it's quite similar to polish :D

    Love Holmes and this video!

    5 stars

  • Гениально!!!!=)

  • Wow. And here I was thinking Russians had no sense of humour. This is great!

  • What??? :D You should see all the comedies they made in soviet times! :D

  • lol

  • hey is the end melody from brigada ?

    the vid is really good

  • Very nice cartoon

  • Я думаю-Очень хорошо :)!

  • I have red sherlock holme´s stories and this one is the hilarious version of them

  • great work 5 stars

  • really funny=]=D xD

  • danke for dis vidio

  • Oh wow, I haven't seen absurd Russian comedy in a while. Thanks for the post.

  • so funny

  • A wonderful piece of animation but out of all the cartoons on the DVD "Шерлок Холмс и доктор Ватсон. Сборник мультфильмов" this is my least favorite and it has nothing to do with the brilliant animation style or the story (which is, at times hilarious). I think it is more to do with Koltan's voice annoying me. It's a triviality but damn, it's just so... : (

  • Really? His voice acting is probably my favourite thing about the film. I'm rather surprised that you could understand Russian and not like it. :p

  • Sorry Niffiwan, I know he is a talent (the way he did all those different voices) It's just that from the first time I saw it something about his voice bugged me. It is just a personal thing and not meant to take anything away from the work as a whole. Bubnov did a really good job, I just found Koltan's voice got on my nerves. I'm just saying that some of Maximov's works and the "Из жизни разбойников" double (the first more than the second) appealed to me more.

  • I like it. A really good Russian cartoon. Some Americans may not get it because Russian thought is no American thought.

  • Ah, I loved that! Thank you from Latvia!

  • really great, cant u just see

  • Surely you don't mean that indigenous Siberian or Far Eastern tribes have any relation to these cartoons?

  • Прикольно=))) спасибо вам!!!

  • "People getting shot in the head and still walking around/talking is not natural."

I guess you didn't watch any Looney Tunes as a kid...

  • Uh... Asian?

  • Damn that was great....

  • It was a little weird, but really neat all the same. Was Mrs Hudson shot? It looked like another woman to me.

  • it's funnier without the subtitles!

  • great story, and really funny, they dont make cartoons like this anymore

  • They do in Russia. ;) This was made 2 years ago.

  • I wanted to let you know. I love the stuff you upload. I'm a Huge fan!! Are you russian?

  • Thanks. And yes, though I live in Canada. Check out my ocassionally-updated blog about Russian animation if you're interested - it's called "Animatsiya in English" (a google search should get you there). I also have some films on Google Video (especially those which were too long for Youtube).

  • Spaciba!! I will.

  • tHe bEst sheRlOCK holmeS.

  • Cool and crazy!Конан Дойл перевернулся бы в гробу ;-)Да уж, лихая версия...

  • Superklass.. they killed Mrs. Hadson, bastards!

  • ahuet!srazu dve!

  • I love it and I love Russian language, you miss a lot if you cannot understand Russian..,

  • where is part 1?

  • It was removed by Youtube. The first part of the film is actually available at animator dot ru (see link in the comments), though without English subtitles.

  • removed by Youtube? Why Youtube always remove interesting videos? Nevertheless, all those shitting vids remains.... What a pity. Anyway, thanks for trying posting that.

  • Amazing. I am in awe.

  • I wanna see it but it just dosent work that viedeo of yours

  • Way to go!! Keep up the good work!

  • HEuMOBEPHO KPYTO!

  • XD That was great. I loved how the victims wouldn't stay dead.

  • K^ACHA

  • This is beyond great! I really love it!

    Bravo!

  • =) fantastic.

    Bu-go-ga :)

  • Strashno! Chto shedevr za multfilm! Thank you for uploading this... if there's a russian translation for "lol", I'd need it uzhasno!

Is it true, that jokes about Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are classics of russian humour?

  • Brilliant cartoon! :)

  • -- Is it true, that jokes about Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are classics of russian humour?

    Jep )

  • yeah, it's true about jokes. here is one:

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are traveling on an aerostat. All of a sudden strong storm happens -- they can see nothing but dark clouds. Holmes and Watson offer up their prayers and the storm stops as fast as it began. Our heroes see some beatiful land bellow with a man grazing some cows.

    - Good day, sir, - says Holmes, - would you be so kind to tell us where we are right now?

    - In the aerostat's cabin, sir, - answers the man.

  • - Good. We are in Russia! - Holmes explains to Watson.

    - But how do you know? - asks Watson

    - Oh, it's pretty easy, - answers Holmes, - this man is top-class mathematician. Only a top-class mathematician could give such correct and at the same time such useless answer.

    - Right, but how do you know we are in Russia?

    - It's elementary, Watson. Only in Russia top-class mathematicians graze cows.

  • ;D

Good anecdote; it strikes a little too close to home.

I'm reminded of Nikolai Leskov's tale, "Levsha". Different countries have different problems: some cannot produce geniuses but give excellent positions to the few they do produce, others can produce them but let many of them go to waste. Russia's in the latter category, and has been for a long time.

  • LOL is translated as "laughing very loud".

  • Thanxalot, but I wasn't asking for english! See, I ain't english or russian either, I'm french and down here we've tranlated "lol" with "mdr", which is "mort de rire". Dead from laughing, "totgelacht" if you're into german language. I just wondered if the creativity of Russkoje slovo had found some way out like that.

  • There is "ржунимагу" (rzhunimagoo). It can be translated as "laughing like a horse, can't hold it" , with every possible mistake. It is part of russian internet slang.

  • I suppose, you ment "awesome!" in russian. )))) "Strashno" is used when you are actually afraid of smthng. "Potryasajushe!" (потрясающе) is the word you were aiming for.
