No drugs only lowered her singing register. She had vocal surgery to remove nodules, that she had since 1992 after getting them whist recording the Bodyguard, which she had removed in 2004. If you go to her WMA performance in 2004 you will see this, her voice was still amazing. But once a knife messes with vocal chords it throws off everything, so yes, her voice is not the same. But while singing this song she was also very emotional.

And the more I listen to this performance, I must say that the first half is really pretty good. There are moments that sound like the recording. She started to sound tired toward the end. Something that could help with this is for Whitney to stand still while she's singing, especially is she feels tired. But overall, I thought it was better than people are saying.

No drugs only lowered her singing register. She had vocal surgery to remove nodules, that she had since 1992 after getting them whist recording the Bodyguard, which she had removed in 2004. If you go to her WMA performance in 2004 you will see this, her voice was still amazing. But once a knife messes with vocal chords it throws off everything, so yes, her voice is not the same. But while singing this song she was also very emotional.

@IMTHEBIGGESTMJFANEVR Wow, you are one of few people who seem to get this. Her voice really deteriorated after the Bodyguard due to the high demand & non-stop singing on the nodes. She had many surgeries since, BUT, as you've stated, once under the knife, everything goes off. The drugs actually had very little to do with her current vocal condition; look at all the others under heavy drug use who sing fine now. It should be an indication.

i think Amber Riley can sing this song good, but she never make me feel all that withney do in this sound. The feeling that withey has no singer from tv show has. Brave is the woman (or man) who gets back up after falling-especially after several falls- and turns to GOD and says I'm ready to try again with your help. Cowardly are those who mask their own failures and lack of courage by ripping apart those who do get up and move on. Why is it that people take such delight in the pain and mistakes of others. And the more I listen to this performance, I must say that the first half is really pretty good. There are moments that sound like the recording. She started to sound tired toward the end. Something that could help with this is for Whitney to stand still while she's singing, especially is she feels tired. But overall, I thought it was better than people are saying.

Very emotional and courageous performance. People should really stop comparing. This isn't a contest about who is the best singer. The thing I love about Whitney is she has learned from her mistakes, which is inspiring to me. I also agree that people should stop putting her down for her faith in God.
