No, Rufus Thomas and daughter Carla were on Stax Records from 1961 to 1975. Rufus and Chaka Khan were a different act and a generation younger then Rufus Thomas.

Not sure if you have seen the other reply to your question but Rufus and Chaka Khan is a WHOLE OTHER Rufus. In that case Rufus is just a band name. It's not actually a band member. This is the one and only Rufus Thomas.
