goronpaul2012 I would think you would be more informed in regards to the candidate you support. I don't have anything against Ron Paul. I think he's very intelligent, articulate, and admirable. I just don't agree with many of his stances on issues. Registered Rep., Dem., Liber., etc. have the right to vote for candidates regardless of party affiliation. Like Bill Maher I do not completely agree with all of Obama's policies, but it's between him and McCain and I'd be much happier with Obama.

Ron Paul has been a Libertarian through most of his political career. He ran for president in 1988 as a Libertarian. This year he's running as a Republican. This type of "flip-flopping" is not unheard of in politics. Bill Maher is still a Libertarian. He did not start out by saying Ron Paul was the best. He didn't care for him at first until 1. he interviewed him on his show and 2. the republican debates where Ron Paul wasn't afraid to speak out against the war and other Republican policies.

After adamantly opposing it for all of his campaign, he recently collapsed and included it in his energy plan. It took him this long to realize we need domestic oil to get off foreign dependence? What he isn't telling us, is that raising taxes for the 5% that matter for our economy will be devastating during a recession. Businesses are the ones contributing to our economy. People will always be willing to work, but if you increase taxxes for business, they will fire many, many people to make up for that. Prices for consumers will also go up. Does this sound like something we need during a recession? Sorry, but I'd rather strengthen our economy than receive a handout.
