This a real treat seeing the master perform, I have just been learning these tracks myself( been plying 8 months) and seeing these videos is awesome. I might be brave enough to post up my version!
Was it good old Blighty? No it certainly is not (not nowdays anyway)
Was it the freedom capital of the world the good ole US of A?
Or was it his farm or allotment?
Or maybe he didnt like flying and wrote the music just after he touched down and was waiting for his baggage! (Any landing is a wonderful one if you can walk away from it)
Best wishes to Clif and the Shads for their final world tour 2009/2010 in the UK, OZ and NZ etc
I might have thought it was Australia but I dont think he'd been there then:-) But he likes it there now. So do I. All it does here in Devon is f^^kin rain all summer for the past 3 years
Dear Punorss, Hank uses a Vox AC30 amp with celestion twin blue speakers, cost around £900 00, He also uses a procesor with echos from the past by Charlie Hall, an Alesis quad will do the job, and they still come up on the net from time to time pre programed. hope this is of some help to you.
Without Hank, there would have been no George Harrison lead guitar bridges on early Beatles tracks. Check out Apple Jam when they played freestyle together.
yeah hank is amazign and it goes deeper than george i mean hank was even a huge influence of tony iommi the guitarist from black sabbath, the heavy metal riff inventor
And thankyou to The Hank B Marvin Band - you might as well call it that - where were the rest of the REAL members; Tony Meehan, Bruce Welch, Jet Harris? Great record originally.
From an era of greater innocence... Hank also influenced Mark Knopfler's guitarist Richard Bennett! You can definitely hear that on Richard's CD: Theme from a Rainy Decade.
The Shadows (1950s and 1960s) and their lead guitarist Hank B Marvin were a big influence on Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. Beatiful clean playing. Hank was apparently the first European to own a Fender Strat.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Hank as he lived in WSestern Australia. Great guy and is looking great. He says he doesn't play much these days...What a shame.
The Shadows were the British counterpart to the Ventures - but a better band. Hank B Marvin was the first European to own a Strat. He was a big influence on Mark Knopfler.
This man is the reason I picked up an electric guitar! This track sounds fresh even almost 50 years on..

My Favourite all time track by The Shadows, Atlantis comes a close second.
In fact Mike oldfield liked Wonderland so much he covered it, then again he has always said Hank was a big influence on him.
