This could've very well replaced I Me Mine on Let it Be. Maybe if, when Phil Spector told them that he was going to make it, they said "NO WAY YOU BUTCHER!" Then they got George Martin and they produced GET BACK! :D
Man, Paul and John should have let George take the lead in the Beatles for the next 2 albums.... they would have survived and these songs would have been fully realized.
that is the "pity "George is talking about he knew it and actually said it ( see fly on the wall outakes )
dude, they still were assholes to him during the get back sessions considering his material, only on the last album, abbey road, did they finally aknowledge his talent.
Rough, but I still would have preferred this to "I've Got a Feeling" or "I Dig a Pony". This and "Isn't It A Pity" would have been great additions to "Let It Be".
I disagree. It's not one of the Beatles' weaker songs. It fits in well, and it's a nice collaboration between John and Paul. I think 'Get Back' is catchier, but interestingly enough, 'I've got a feeling' came off better in the live performance. I think it's better than 'All Things Must Pass'. But I agree, there is some rubbish on the 'Let it Be' album, and you'd think they could use 'Isn't it a pity?' or something else instead.
truthfully, i like this version more than george's final rendition, when the four guys get together, they create a certain kind of magic that can't be beaten
@Janne112 John didn't really care for George's songs. He didn't even play on some. After George released his album he was asked if he liked it. He said it was alright, it's just not my type of music. And went on to add that poor George had to compete against "two fucking bloody genius song writers."
oh come on, plastic ono band/john lennon and imagine are top albums, all 4 beatles had great 70s albums, even ringo had some, but i too think george's are the best, he's also my favorite beatles and favorite lead guitarist of all time.
@OropherThranduil Lennon did do some good work when he wasn't up on a soap box. It seems like he took himself too seriously at times. He had a very healthy ego and he did snub George's work on LIB, I don't think he even played on I Me Mine.
by the time i me mine was recorded he had left the band for 4 months, and he was on holiday in Denmark at the time, so you can't hold that gainst him.
he didn't take himself that serious, he was a very insecure man, belive it or not, he might have been critical toward his other post beatles musical careers, but for example he had big worries because everybody covered pausla nd not his songs, and he was really hurt when george almost made no mention of him in his bio.
@BigJohnWoody The footage from LIB (the movie) shows Lennon and Yoko doing a waltz while Paul and Ringo are playing along with George. When they did a proper studio version well after Abbey Road had been completed Lennon was looong gone from the Fabs. So you are correct sir.
This band version is so good, because it really sounded like a group effort!!!
Thanks for sharing!.....Oh and b t w where does all this lost and demo stuff found at? My record/cd shops must just suck!!! (or maybe they are trying to stay away from that dirty word "Bootleg") lol

WHY did they veto this? It would have been great on Get Back, I think.

@BonelessSausage For my money Harrison's solo career was a lot better than Lennon's. Lennon's output in the seventies is pretty mediocre.

@DasGoldenBoy Just to follow up on what OropherThrandull said, the "Dave Dee is no longer with us" is evidence that Lennon didn't play on the track.
