I have a similar setup in mind but I don't have my monitor yet. I was gonna buy a HDMI compatible lcd/led monitor and use a third-party hd audio adapter with RCA out to avoid the HDMI/Component blocking issue on my 360 elite.

But do you think it makes more sense to buy a VGA monitor instead of a HDMI monitor?

It would be cheaper but I'm not sure it would look as good. Thanks for your help!

Thanks, I have the same cable, and all I could get was video, no sound, after researching the web and found a few youtube vids, realised that all I needed was RCA female adapter which I ordered from ebay so hopefully I get it by Tuesday. I was going to buy a vga to hdmi but it would have the red+ white cables so I just brought the adapter. Anyway very informative vid, without sound, it sucks playing the xbox.

Yeah. YOu plug the green headphone jack into that female green piece he shows. Then you plug the usb port into the usb on your xbox. Then you plug the mic jack on the little switch box near the actual headset into the controller.

Anything smaller than 40" will be LCD, Plasmas don't really come small. 60hZ is 60 frames per second, and no games run higher than 60 fps. If your tv is 120 hZ or even 240 hZ, it's going to give you a negligible difference at best.

Maybe if the designers of the 360 weren't completely retarded and moved the HDMI and composite slots away from each other and offered a way of outputting sound separate from your main source then we wouldn't have this problem. Can you just use a Vga to Hdmi cable? Plug the vga end into your monitor and the hdmi into the back of your xbox? It will have sound and video, right?
