The only reason there are still IRA supporters in Ireland and elsewhere is because the UK still occupies NI. The IRA will always exist as long as the UK owns NI. Well, yes, its called common sense, why would they patrol the streets at dark? the perfect time for ambushes? And the IRA could walk the streets anytime as you cant tell if they are IRA or not, they never wore a uniform constantly to show who they are, so who was afraid of who? As they knew direct warfare with the British would absolutely destroy them. The RA do have lots of training but in certain areas like guns and bombs. They wouldn't have hand to hand combat and all sorts of special training that the SAS do. They don't need it. In a real war the IRA wouldn't stand a chance. Geurilla warfare shows that a small group with limited resources can take on a whole army.
I heard a story about the Finnish fighting the Russians and they beat them cuz they drove them outta Finland cuz they used geurilla tactics. Can't remember what war it was.
