  • Why is there beef in the chilli sauce? It sound quite odd...

  • @KiddyPie123 In the area where I live, ground beef is part of chili sauce.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Yeah, ground beef always! I've never heard of it without beef!

  • @KiddyPie123 not odd at all. it's not really chili with out the meat!

  • Looks great and thanks for posting! I would add less water but you are so right about not browning the meat first! That's the whole difference right there!

  • From one Kentuckian to another, I would like to thank you for all the helpful videos. Your talent and dedication are only out-shined by your beauty. Merry Christmas!!

  • Betty.

How much tomato sauce and beans would you need to complete the chili?

    :) thanks!

  • @maddiebelletwelve The tomato sauce would be optional, since the chili sauce has a lot of tomatoes. You could add a can of beans of your choice and stir; repeat until you have the proportion of beans you want. Simmer for a few minutes to get the bean flavor cooked in.

    --Betty :)

  • Real nice video, thanks for sharing your recipies and time.

  • im gonna ask my mum to cook this!!!

  • wow looks great to eat when im gaming for 37 hours!!!!!!!

  • I wish i could do this all i can cook is toast and poptarts

  • @BlackIce131 Start by trying something simple. I think you will enjoy cooking!

    --Betty :)

  • I made the chili but on the stove, it turned out super! Can I add a little garlic to it? What do you think Betty?

  • @Juls460 I think garlic would be great with it!

    --Betty :)

  • Can we add fried Bacon to it?

  • @MrAlvinSinfulSong Sure--that would taste good!

    --Betty :)

  • this looks like it would go on rice with some vegies nicely. perhaps slightly thicker though. i will try this tomorrow i think

  • If I don't have a crocker pot how do I cook it??? Can I use a pot and cook it on the stove?? If so what temperature?? Medium high??? I really want to cook this chili sauce... I'm kinda young but I love to cook

  • @HappyBunny0804 Put it in a pot and bring it to a boil, stirring, over medium-high heat. When it boils, reduce the heat to low, and make sure it is slightly bubbling. Just let it simmer, stirring occasionally, until it is the consistency you like (maybe a couple of hours).

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen thank you so much, I so happy i can finally make this recipe :)))))))

  • @HappyBunny0804 ya same her

  • @2525monsterman Please see answer to HappyBunny0804.

    --Betty :)

  • Can I had milk instead of water?

  • @aldoresendiz3 I just don't think that milk would combine with these flavors as well as water.

    --Betty :)

  • @aldoresendiz3

o.0 ive never heard of adding milk to chili... Milk reduces heat, and acidity. which would just destroy the chili. so id assume thats a no no. you can use Beef/chicken stock, beer, or wine rather than water. Jack Daniels works too.

  • @Myserieden Good answer!

    --Betty :)

  • @Myserieden actually curry is all about adding milk to chilli

  • cool look likes Wendy's

  • @alienhddna Thanks! I hope you will like it!

    --Betty :)

  • I luv your accent! Where are you from?

  • @Juberoos Thanks! I'm from Kentucky.

  • I wish there was "smell-a-vision"!! This looks great, thanks for sharing.

  • @greenduckcandles I wish there was, too! Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • This video makes me want to go out and buy a crockpot, lol. I am officially hungry for a chili dog now, lol. Your chili is exactly the consistency I like too. I'm not a fan of overly meaty or beany chilis..blech. This kind would make for great chili cheese fries, I'm sure! Yum :)

  • @Poenut Yes, this is great for chili dogs--also great for chili cheese fries. Thanks for commenting!

  • Hi Betty,

Love your recipes! I was wondering if there's a particular reason that you fry with Extra virgin olive oil. I have always used it for salads since the smoke point is so low (200 F) and this can alleviate harmful toxins from the degredation of the oil. Regular oiive oil has a much higher smoke point, would this be better?

  • @Lozzee979 Yes, regular olive oil would be better. Sometimes I use what I have on hand, but I am very aware that smoking is a problem with some oils. I usually use peanut oil for anything I heat to a high heat.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thats a great tip Betty, Thanks so much :)

  • title of the music pls ?

  • @uhmuhmLaps Johann Sebastian Bach, Air on the G String.

    --Betty :)

  • Hello Betty, is there any way to make it without a Crockpot because I don't have one.

    Thank you

  • @dogggfight9999999999 You can cook it in a large pot on the stove. It will be great, and it will cook faster.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, when you added the tomato paste you mentioned that you had already put it in the bowl because it takes time to get it out. If you cut both the top and bottom open, but only take the top one off and then push the bottom through it completely comes out in one long tube.

  • @heathersedran That's a great idea! Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • Wow Betty this is exactly what I was looking for. You know how hard it is to find a recipe that looks this good? Very. Thanks

P.S. Your stove just rocks my socks. It's gorgeous.

  • @stephany1800 Thanks for your lovely comment!

    --Betty :)

  • is it okay to have raw meet in bowls you eat in?

  • @ndnflava If I put raw meat in bowls, I wash them before serving food in them.

    --Betty :)

  • hey betty, i tried your enchiladas and loved them, now i want to try your chili sauce. i dont have tomato paste, but i do have tomato sauce, can i interchange them and if so how much sauce would it call for?

  • @themuzzer71 When using sauce, double the amount for the tomato paste and cut down on the water.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen well i broke down and went to the store and got tomato paste, its in the crook pot now, ill write back to let ya know how it is. Im from michigan orginally where coney island chili dogs were invented, but since relocated to tennessee and have been missing that taste, hopefully your recipe is close, if not better.

  • @bettyskitchen ok betty the sauce is done and i was skeptical about this, it turned out wonderful, its not quite pixies in mt. pleasant michigan, but very close and delicious. i will be returning to your sites for further recipes, it seems your family has the same taste as my family, i saw your rueben sandwich that you say your husband likes, well thats big in our family as well, and you pretty much make it the same we do...ty again.

  • @themuzzer71 Thanks for your lovely feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Giving this a try this morning for a cookout with friends tonight! <3

  • @bettyskitchen - This was pretty good! Richer than I expected, tho everyone who tried it tonight enjoyed it quite a bit. I think I might add a lil bit more brown sugar next batch, and see what we think of that. I probably shouldn't mess with it, tho... it's awfully close to perfection ;-) Thanks again, doll!

  • how many servings does it come out to be? sorry if you answered this during the video, but my speakers don't work

  • @17jaas It would depend on how much you put on each hot dog, but it would do a dozen easily.

    --Betty :)

  • can this go with cornbread?

  • @DreamloverLambi It can, but if you look up chili in bettyskitchen you will have a better combination for cornbread. This is "chili sauce," meant for hot dogs, etc.

    --Betty :)

  • Boom, I have been looking for a good quick chilli recipe like this, I saw your other one, though this is the type I was after Thanks Betty, keep up the good work

  • looks amazing!

  • Betty, Out of curiosity, why paste and water, not tomato sauce? I don't use paste ever because I don't know how or when to use it appropriately. Can you give some guidance please?

  • @abuelita23xxx I find that you can get a more intense tomato flavor using tomato paste. I never can seem to achieve that with tomato sauce.

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks Betty for reminding me about chili. I haven't made any in a very long time!

  • How long will it last in the refrigerator? I have Norwegian ingredrients, so im not sure if its different in how long it will last.

  • @Kennylol For the ingredients I used, I think for best freshness you should keep it only about 3 days--if longer, then it should be frozen.

  • @Kennylol Most chilli last a week in the refrigerator some last 2 weeks. If its seasoned well with spices you may have it last 2weeks but i wouldnt go any futher. Also it can keep to a month or so if you freese it :)

  • do u have to use a crock pot ? can u use a regular pot?

  • @NicoleBoo90 You can use a regular pot on the stove. The crock pot is just for cooking the chili sauce slowly and providing a way to keep it warm through the span of a party.

    --Betty :)

  • @memyselfandINICH I froze my leftovers in a plastic box with a fitted lid. When I need to use it, I will thaw it in the box and then heat it up in a pot on the stove or in the crock pot.

    --Betty :)

  • Great recipe with the cold weather right now! Will have to make this recipe soon! Enjoy chili dogs every now & then & this looks like a great recipe for the chili sauce! :)

  • BEST CHANEL ON YOUTUBE!! HANDS DOWN!!!:) My six year old loves your chanel and I havent seen a recipie on here, that I wouldnt like to make! I will most likly do this for a superbowl party we are attending! KEEP 'EM COMMING!

  • Looks good, but nothing beats my Chilli - too bad I dont have a recipe though, I just add everything and anything.

  • @kirokyukan Those are the best kinds of recipes... the ones u never remember what all u added to them afterwards... u added everything but the kitchen sink @ the time & it just tasted good afterwards lol :)

  • Dear Betty, can I use chicken instead of beef? Or would that change the taste?

  • @crashingxhearts You may use ground chicken or ground turkey.

    --Betty :)

  • Excellent harty recipe. Thanks for the tips on consistency.

  • oops meant to say "crock pot" not just crock lol!!****

  • YUM!! I have recently starting doing nacho parties for my daughters b-day parties and casual get togethers and this will most definetly be a another crock serving for that!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!

  • Really nice, Betty!

  • Really nice Cincinnati Style chili recipe, Betty. :D It's making me crave my grandma's...I may have to make some *drool* :P

  • Now I know what we're having next weekend! we'll have it without hot dogs but maybe hamburgers.

  • Great video

  • How do you know that the meat is cooked all the way through if you are cooking it in the crock pot?

  • @0184AC The meat is in tiny pieces. It will lose its pink color very quickly when cooked in a crock pot on high or low. The remainder of the cooking time is to blend the flavors and thicken the sauce. (You can always put this in a pot on the stove and cook it like chili.)

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen ok thanks

  • Awesome !!! i will have to try this!!

  • Looks awesome, Betty!

  • i love ur videos ... on 1:11 i can smell it c.O :D ....

    much greetz from germany

  • Very beautiful. I need to make this pronto.

Also, do you think that there can be anything else you can use those spicy onions for? Without ruining the recipe, of course.

  • looks delicious (=

  • mmhm i think i will try this for my chili cheese nachos ^_^

  • @barbielovesmac100 This makes great chili cheese nachos; I make the sauce thicker for nachos.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Ooh, what a fabulous idea!
