This video made me cry. I have a pitbull, he is great with my 4 month old son, he is my 2 nd son. If someone tried to take my dog, they would have to end my life first. They are trying to give pit bulls a bad name, it's wrong. It's not the dogs, it's the a**hole people that train them to fight. The law needs to go after these people that fight them or if they even are attending them. Someone needs to stand up for these innocent dogs. It really breaks my heart :(

Having worked with Pit bulls in the animal industry for the last 25 years, I must tell everyone how wrong this type of legislation is. I see hundreds of wonderful pit bulls, and their responsible owners at our hospital, and rarely do I come across an aggressive one. If they try this in our area I'll be fighting it in court, along with most of the staff of one of the largest animal hospitals in the country. If this happens in your area, fight!

Herding dogs that were born and raised in the city and never around livestock... will often time herd their owner's children automatically w/o any training b/c it's ingrained into their genes. When I was little, there lived a HUGE pitbull down the street. His name was Lucky, and he was probably the sweetest dog I have ever, and ever will meet. He would always let me climb on him, and pull on his ears. But, one day, 3 dogs chased him into my garage. These dogs were a golden retriever, a border collie, and a mutt. They tore him up, and left him to die in my garage. When we found these dogs, we found not a single mark on them. A pitbull that could've killed those dogs, didn't. That's sad

A couple years ago I lived next door to this family who had a pit bull, and they'd always let me take him for walks... We used to lie down and cuddle in the fields together =) I loved him so much, he was the sweetest thing ever... And then they moved to Miami, and had to put him down =( Broke my heart... And it was sad because they had to put down they're little puppy who was only half pit! Half! It's so ridiculous...

I live in ireland and the number 1 & 2 dogs that are put to sleep for biting and collies and jack russels respectively.Yet they are not banned. Its a known fact that pet staffs DO NOT BITE. If staffs and pits are banned the SCUM who force these dogs will fight something else. Simple. Tougher punishment for people who FORCE these dogs to fight is the only answer.

If this is based on the number of deaths or attacks made by this breed it's completly wrong. Just look at the german shepherds, they where used to kill the prisoners during WW2, I don't see them being put down. The owners who train their dogs with abuse is the ones who needs to dissapear. A dog on my street, a golden, was hit by her owners. It ended up with her running away from home and into a kindergarden, just to get gunned down by the police, it wasn't her fault she was hit by kids at home.

Pit Bulls are the largest group of dogs. They are very desirable and they are eager to please. What people need to do to get the correct statistics on dog attacks is pull the average number of each species then plug in the number of attacks from each species. The numbers come out extremely close.

This is the reason that pit bulls have the highest numbers. Also, most people can not recognize a pit bull when they see one. Not every dog with a big head is a pit.

Oklahoma has banned breed specific legislation permanently. People are streaming here from Denver to protect their dogs. BSL has been proven over and over to be highly ineffective at reducing dog bites, and it does absolutely nothing to stop dogfighting and other illegal activities that these dogs are used in. Always know the bloodline and remember that local breeder = backyard breeder. It's a hard truth for some to hear, but Staffordshires were never intended for or bred as family pets, but bred in the UK specifically for the blood sport of bull baiting, a practice banned in 1835. They were then brought to US for the sole purpose of dog fighting. Behaviors in dogs become genetically ingrained. Inherent traits of any dog breed's bloodline is never flushed out 100% -- negative traits can be regressive.
How come behaviors can become genetically ingrained but new behaviors can't? Great Danes were also bred for fighting. Terriers were bred for killing animals, rodents and larger animals. There are very vicious labs. Aggression is not breed specific. Granted "pit bull" type breeds are quite strong, but that doesn't necessitate problems as long and the OWNERS train and take proper care of their pets.
Pits were genetically programmed to fight, a trait that is difficult to weed out, but the fighting was programmed towards other animals, as in most dog breeds. Pits were never bred to attack humans, a misconception that has been this breed's downfall. The pit is the original nanny dog, a breed that is better with families than many other breeds.

This video made me cry. I have a pitbull, he is great with my 4 month old son, he is my 2 nd son. If someone tried to take my dog, they would have to end my life first. They are trying to give pit bulls a bad name, it's wrong. It's not the dogs, it's the a**hole people that train them to fight. The law needs to go after these people that fight them or if they even are attending them. Someone needs to stand up for these innocent dogs. It really breaks my heart :(

Girl Recovering From Pitbull Attack
Kyniya Harris needed 40 stitches in her leg following the attack.
“The dog just charged up and attacked my girl,” Loretta Harris said. “They weren’t doing anything out there but playing.”
“Kyniya’s spirit is great but she is in a lot of pain,” Harris said.
Batton said the dog remains with its owners.

Having worked with Pit bulls in the animal industry for the last 25 years, I must tell everyone how wrong this type of legislation is. I see hundreds of wonderful pit bulls, and their responsible owners at our hospital, and rarely do I come across an aggressive one. If they try this in our area I'll be fighting it in court, along with most of the staff of one of the largest animal hospitals in the country. If this happens in your area, fight!

Pit Bulls were specifically bred to fight to the death for 100's of years (throughout most of its history). This cannot be instantly erased.
All dogs bites, but Pits are prone to bite to the death. It's in their genes. Herding dogs that were born and raised in the city and never around livestock... will often time herd their owner's children automatically w/o any training b/c it's ingrained into their genes. Pit Bulls, will tend to attack & kill, it's in their genes.

When I was little, there lived a HUGE pitbull down the street. His name was Lucky, and he was probably the sweetest dog I have ever, and ever will meet. He would always let me climb on him, and pull on his ears. But, one day, 3 dogs chased him into my garage. These dogs were a golden retriever, a border collie, and a mutt. They tore him up, and left him to die in my garage. When we found these dogs, we found not a single mark on them. A pitbull that could've killed those dogs, didn't. That's sad

I live in ireland and the number 1 & 2 dogs that are put to sleep for biting and collies and jack russels respectively.Yet they are not banned. Its a known fact that pet staffs DO NOT BITE. @timmyq49 it's so sad too. responsible owners recognize the love, devotion, and loyalty that these dogs posess, irresponsible owners use these traits to make the dogs fight and give them all a bad name. i own 2 pits and they can have my pits only after they put me down. my dogs have done nothing wrong and if lawmakers would make the people takes a psychology test while hooked up to a lie detector then the fighting would stop. it's not the dogs it's the people that let them down

If this is based on the number of deaths or attacks made by this breed it's completly wrong. Just look at the german shepherds, they where used to kill the prisoners during WW2, I don't see them being put down. The owners who train their dogs with abuse is the ones who needs to dissapear. A dog on my street, a golden, was hit by her owners. It ended up with her running away from home and into a kindergarden, just to get gunned down by the police, it wasn't her fault she was hit by kids at home.

I am a breeder and i promise you my pits wouldnt kill a baby. Pit Bulls are the largest group of dogs. They are very desirable and they are eager to please. What people need to do to get the correct statistics on dog attacks is pull the average number of each species then plug in the number of attacks from each species. The numbers come out extremely close.

In statistics, a pit bull is considered to be a large group of different breeds such as the Staffordshire terrier, Staffordshire bull terrier, american bulldog, english bulldog, bull terrier, and any other bully breed. This is the reason that pit bulls have the highest numbers. Also, most people can not recognize a pit bull when they see one. Not every dog with a big head is a pit.

Pitbulls are banned from Allen Park, Michigan. 12 were removed, 7 of them put to sleep. Plans are being made by the gov't to remove all pitbulls from Michigan homes. I can't believe it... I just really can't. I've always wanted a dog --a pitbull to be exact... and now I can't get one.

thank you for opening my eyes to this. i did not know of this legislation that is spreading (like a sickness) in our country. when will people realize that it is abuse and neglect that makes a dog more prone to be vicious; like all animals are. (humans are animals too). the only vicious pit bulls ive ever seen came from environments of poor mental and physical conditions. they lacked the appropriate attention, concern for well-being, understanding, and love they needed.

This video is so sad, makes me cry. I've had Pit Bulls my whole life and they are the BEST dogs! So sweet and loyal and loving and kind and these dogs have been my best friends in life. I work in the veterinary industry and all I can say is thank God most vets / techs out there are totally against BSI. Great video.... keep up the good work trying to educate people.

Oklahoma has banned breed specific legislation permanently. People are streaming here from Denver to protect their dogs. BSL has been proven over and over to be highly ineffective at reducing dog bites, and it does absolutely nothing to stop dogfighting and other illegal activities that these dogs are used in. Anyone, IMO, who supports and fights for it is a modern-day nazi, pure and simple. there is no difference at all. You're out to kill what you don't like. It's a Holocaust.

Always know the bloodline and remember that local breeder = backyard breeder. It's a hard truth for some to hear, but Staffordshires were never intended for or bred as family pets, but bred in the UK specifically for the blood sport of bull baiting, a practice banned in 1835. They were then brought to US for the sole purpose of dog fighting. Behaviors in dogs become genetically ingrained. Inherent traits of any dog breed's bloodline is never flushed out 100% -- negative traits can be regressive.

How come behaviors can become genetically ingrained but new behaviors can't? Great Danes were also bred for fighting. Terriers were bred for killing animals, rodents and larger animals. There are very vicious labs. Aggression is not breed specific. Granted "pit bull" type breeds are quite strong, but that doesn't necessitate problems as long and the OWNERS train and take proper care of their pets.

Pits were genetically programmed to fight, a trait that is difficult to weed out, but the fighting was programmed towards other animals, as in most dog breeds. Pits were never bred to attack humans, a misconception that has been this breed's downfall. The pit is the original nanny dog, a breed that is better with families than many other breeds.
