My son is attending Berea this year and we are all so thankful. This school, unlike all the state schools located in my state, has been proactive in everything he needs. This school cares about my son and you can't say that for all higher ec
ducational institutions. They are not in "business" like most colleges, I wish they were a bigger school so more students would get the chance to attend. Thanks Berea for seeing that a disabled person got a fair shake.
im going here and all the negative comments are simply ignorance! Where ever someone chooses to go is fine it is just what u make of it. Berea is in the south and if you do your research you will find more postive things than negative. Grow up people it makes no sense to down a college especially if you havent even gone!
Berea is a backward hillbilly college still trying to overcome southern racism. Most of the students are fundamentalists. The school itself isn't competitive with most schools outside of the south either. Look it up. What they like to say in Berea is that "Berea is one of the best schools in the South. It's the Harvard of Kentucky."
@hungryhobo82 I went to Berea college. Berea is a terrible school. Sorry your standards are so low buddy. Berea is an exploitive, provincial, typically backward bible belt institution. The education is second rate at best. For Pete's sake, it's a tiny school with less students than my high school in a tiny town in southern Kentucky in the middle of the freaking bible belt. If someone would have been honest about the fundamentalist pressure or narrow-mindedness I would have never gone there.
@hugryhobo82 for real?... I'm an international student considering Berea because of the possibility to get a full ride (which is crucial in my case)...
@kaikamahineable You can get a better education almost anywhere. Look around. The University of Cincinnati and Indiana University, just to name a few, also have work study programs that in many cases are superior to what Berea can offer. There are about a million places you would want to be rather than southern Kentucky. No one in the region will admit it but Kentucky, including Berea, is well known throughout the U.S. for second rate standards, racism, and Christian fundamentalism. Beware
@cilantroification By the way, if you're such hot shit in a champagne class, what were you doing at a college that is pretty much for cold diarrhea in Dixie cups. You grew up as cold diarrhea in a Dixie cup and Berea says "hey what about these people? they have just as much right as anyone else to get a college education." I have my beefs with the college but really, you're not hot shit in a champagne glass like you think.
@cilantroification Virginia. I just graduated from Berea. If you're saying there are a lot of Christian fundamentalists in the community, I might agree with you. There are hardly any Christian fundamentalists at the college. What part of the north are you from?
Its Thupten sincerely appreciating global-educational environment with diversity in unity, that awesome. i am also looking forward to join this college after graduating, because of your service and experiential learning atmosphere.

@hungryhobo82 Nice to see that you dropped out to become a hungry hobo. By the way, there are classes on atheism in this tiny bible belt institution.
