My parents had a friend when I was a child that always brought this to our house. It was the most delicious thing I have ever had in my life and I am not exaggerating. For about 15 years we could not figure out what it was that she brought seeing as the bakery she got it from burned down and she moved away. We finally figured out what it was and we could not be happier I am going to be making this for my dad to surprise him..thank you so much!!

The best way to make the cake layers is my make the cake mix all at the same time, pour into a pastry bag and pipe onto the parchment paper - this saves alot of time and gives you less of a headache.

This is one of the most professionally-produced baking videos I`ve seen. Good job. I love to bake Austro-Hungarian tortes, but I find the top of the dobos torte very challenging. I will try your method of marking and separating the pieces. I'd be afraid that the caramel would stick to the ridges, though, and would break off. Does this happen often?
