no because there are two sub-species of Lion remaining. African and Asiatic(Asian). The Asiatic lives in India only now although it used to be in the Middleast to Pakistan to Bangladesh. And the different subspecies were just found in the different continents. So they didn't originate from Africa.
They used to be Barbary Lions, but because of the bottleneck effect their physical stature has become weak.

nope, ..they originate in asia. Not as big as african lions, ...darker mane etc.
