I propose that from henceforth, all future Presidents should come from crossriver/akwa ibom, no arguments, there is no equivalent of such a clean and well planned city where Babangida comes from, where shagari comes from, where Obasanjo comes from, where Yar Adua comes from, or Gowon, or Abacha, or Buahari....we are still looking at Jonathan, but all others just occupied office for nothing, what a crying shame...Go Calabar go...!!
@blamaco Man, u needed to see how much i prayed that Donald Duke would emerge the president of Nigeria in 2007 instead of the 2 STUPID successors we got. I bet Nigeria wouldnt have been down where it is now. I'm Igbo and I really dont care where any good leader comes from!!
So this was one of the biggest places in the slave trade. Doesn't seem like a country that would go into the interior and capture other innocent Africans to sell. Good to see it is nice there today.
I love calabar when I went home for the first time back in '01 absolutely gorgeous. It shows that the whole country can look like this if only we have true visionaries such as Donald Duke who are concerned for the people and not lining up there pockets.
It's sad that I couldn't go see the last annual carnival and see my family in calabar. I am hoping and praying and that I am able to go there soon. I miss them. I am told it's very different now in every sense. I am proud of Calabar and it's loving people.
@jjmatashi Other states dump their mad people here because we are compassionate and we will always help them, unlike some other states that will use mad people for rituals etc.....GO FIGURE!
lol... Calabar all the way! People I no be Calabarian sha but if we see better thing make we support and encourage am thats the way we can get better over time! Lagos no be place at all. One get headache after just 10 mins on its street. No Planning whatsover, Bad roads etc etc... One day God will come to lagos aid too! Nice video! I MUST VISIT CALABAR!
Lagos can be dangerous sometimes, not all the time. And it is not dangerous for White People alone, it is dangerous for everybody. We do not discriminate in Nigeria. This is Africa, not Europe.
I'm not from that part of the country but still find it surprising that many Nigerians unfortunately still confuse all groups from Cross River and Aqua Ibom, as "Calaba" people.
No wonder demoheart still retains the myopic impression...
Akwa Ibom and Efiks are the same people, Igunbor. Tiny differences in pronouncing some words, that's all, but they're the same people in ALL aspects, including names, culture, food, hospitality, love and accomodation. I was born in Akwa Ibom, lived in Calabar until 1996 when I moved to Ibadan, and then to Canada in 2005. I still have family there and in Port-harcourt. May The Lord continue to bless the city and it's people. It's our heritage. Let's be thankful for it.
@Canadianbrother1 Hi! I just got back from Calabar, my beautiful hometown 2 days ago! The Christmas festival was simply.......AWESOME! I live both in England and Nigeria (Abuja) but I visit my hometown often!
also it looks a LOT safer driving here than in lagos anyday. lol
and i dont think traffic gets that bad.
lagos isnt a bad city but its only so much you can take of it and its busy streets and traffic with pollution. after my 10 days stay in lagos it already got annoying.
also i would LOVE to visit the beach in calabar, beautiful. but i heard they're dangerous. will someone take me, please! lol
this economy, no money to travel again. na wa oo!!
We are calabarians.we´re all proud of our city. Beautiful people, rich culinary endeavours and exotic culture....Can´t wait to head home this year ending. GOOD JOB TO YOU TOO, CAMERAMAN.
i should have done just this , the last time i got home.
If cnn were in calabar now, some how they wouldnt be able to get out of their stupid trucks and film here they will go and film in the villages. Stupid bastards.
Good video, clean streets with natural trees.Remind me of my first day in Calabar in 1994.I travelled by road from Lagos to Abuja and then to Plateau state,to Nigeria/Camerounian border...to(Ikot ekpene) Calabar...and then back to Lagos through Macpherson road in Imo state...Benin...Ore...Ijebu Ode.
Nigeria is bless with good natural climatic condition.
I am proud of this city. I can't wait to visit again. I left there in February 1996. Can't wait to visit my family there this year. I hear a lot has changed. They say I won't recognize it anymore. That's why I came on youtube to search for it. I believe it. I attended St. Patrick's college, Calabar. I am canadian now, though.
We lived down MCC...good video man, brought back memories

I visited Calabar in March 2009 for a wedding, thank you for bringing back wonderful memories of my first visit to Africa.
The Channel View Hotel was where my friends Mom stayed and the Mirage was where we had the wedding reception so it was lovely to see them again.
