You know, they had something similar to this back around the turn of the last century (called Orchestrions or Nickelodians) that did the same thing as this band does, basically, self playing instruments. Check 'em out, they're pretty neat.

It must be a program. So maybe the commands were done with C++ i guess. The robots don't ''know" what they're playing. Actually the program gives just the commands to the "fingers" to go up or down with a certain speed and at a certain time. So i guess the engineers are playing the instruments themselves as well (otherwise they wouldn’t do such good music, a program can’t make music itself ;) )
