Yes yukata much easier! I love those instant bows! I bought one for my girls. They r here in america so they don't know the difference. Kimono is sooo hot! And sooo many layers with ropes and alligator clips and obi! Lol luv your videos. I miss Japan
Last winter I had a white snow flake Yukata... I wore it to a photo shoot with my friends, but the next day I was so sick! I cannot afford a Kimono, so I will probably wear a Yukata again during winter during photo shoot this year... I like these for memories :D Even if I become sick ^^
hahaha really nice video. I want to buy yukata or kimono and I don´t know what is better. With kimono is more charge than with yukata ,isn´t it? For begginer like me is the best Yukata :)
Call me mad but I tend to go out in 5ºc temperatures in just a short sleeved T-shirt. I was born in a small town inside a valley in North East England where the North sea wind blows through. It rarely gets higher than 20ºc here, and in the winter reaches -6 or 7ºc quite often. When I go to Japan, I'll probably make do with a Yukata in the winter :-p... do they make yukata for men?
you're not crazy, my friend used to go out side and wait for the bus during the winter right after he took a shower with his hair wet. it was so cold in new england that year that his hair would freeze and he'd break off a piece of it (small piece though). btw, they make yukatas for men.
You said you are from Kansai. Can you do a video about Kansai dialect. I know some of the obvious differences between Tokyo and kansai dialect, like Arigatou = Okini, but how about others?
My young daughter has 2 kimono's and a couple of yukata. I also have a man's Kimono which comes with the over coat. It is dark blue in colour. It also comes with the part of the kimono that goes underneath. Not sure what you call that part but it has a design on it.
I wore yukata when I stayed in a Japanese style hotel in Japan. Nice hotel with an onsen.
You said in the Kimono video that the inside is usually reds or pinks. Just something pretty that looks nice. Are Kimono's for men different. Do they have darker colors to make them more manly?

Yukata is so much simpler, but kimono always looks more elegant. Great explanations!

yeah, if it had been a kimono, the hotel would have been after you like a shot. Yukata are cheap.

Cool vid, my japanese teacher was telling us about kimonos recently and was saying expensive ones can be like 20000 yen
Strifezilla 3 years ago
Yes. Kimono is very expensive. But you can get used kimonos about 1500 - 10000 yen in Kyoto. It's about 15- 100 dollars! Very cheap!

how long did it take you to get into your kimono?
RoninDave 3 years ago
About 15-20 minutes. I practiced a lot. I used to take almost 1 hour to wear Kimono... Yukata is much easier!
