  • I wonder if the mafia kingpin that drove that new off the Cadillac showroom, is still around ? LOL what a GREAT CAR!

  • I wanted one of these old Cadillacs as my first car. Parents weren't wild about it. Bought myself a 72 Volkswagen instead. :P

  • wow your old caddy is almost bigger than my apartment

  • that looong cold start reminds me of a Dodge Aspen I drove 20 years ago - I never knew if that POS leaning tower of power would start in the winter or not

  • Fancy luxury car..

    barely works!

    Cheap modern car-

    Fires every time!

  • @VladBlok28 cheap

modern car 5 years later (whey you pay it off)...

    busted transmission!

cheap modern car 10 years later...

repair costs cost more than vehicle itself!

20 y.o. honestly made unbreakable car...

    still goes!

    and goes and goes...

  • @bluemoondiadochi Honestly I have a 9 year old car and the only thing that ever broke on it was an electric window button. Not motor, button

  • @VladBlok28 i'm glad for you that nothing broke yet!:)

i had a Renault Twingo. it could (mechanically) hold 250.000 km without re-haul. electrically, at 100.000 it was already starting to age. and mind, it's a GREAT car!

now i have a 1991 Mitsubishi Lancer - runs like a dream! can do 500.000 without re-haul. no modern car can do that mileage!

+ they're simpler and cheaper to patch up and keep running, and by my standard i wont be buying NOTHING new for a looong time - maybe never!

  • @bluemoondiadochi ah yes well I didn't mention my car was Japanese (Daihatsu) like your Lancer. Japanese cars are indestructible. One of my best mates has a '91 lancer and I think he has about 300.000 km on the clock, not much wrong with it. As for Renault I don't think they ever had especially reliable cars apart from R4 and maybe the Clio.

  • Nice Cadillac. should rebuild it

  • sale that for me =D

  • Lovbe it man I was always partial to those beauties for sure I like four door ones .

  • this is cool

  • Could your Cadillac pull a 24ft boat?

  • Satan himself would be proud to drive that car.

  • I've always thought the gear-shift levers on these models looked so odd the way they stick straight up almost!

  • thats a lot of pumping. 2 hits is usually what i used to do.

  • Gorgeous! The American dream.

  • you must have a BAD ASS battery. mine would have died after the first couple cranks....

  • U drive that thing? Get a new car. lol

  • @BenjaminLucky13 nope.

  • @BenjaminLucky13 new cars are pieces of shit.

  • @BenjaminLucky13 LOL, you dont get it, do you? this 40 y.o. thing will probably outlive all the shinny "must-have latest" high-tech plastic toys toys called modern cars. let alone it's probably more comfortable and a better looker. man's got taste.

now, you go on catching the latest fashion, but mind, by next year it'll already be "out". some folks know stick to goode stuff... and it's GOODE stuff, no matter the age.

  • @bluemoondiadochi Im not american. sorry psh

  • @BenjaminLucky13 Neither am i.

but modern cars are made with "expiration date" , unlike old ones, at least good quality old ones. modenr cars also have loads on unneeded plastic and electro stuff. generally US cars are not my dig, but this one is different. sorry bout that...

  • @bluemoondiadochi I like to have lots of gadgets in a car. especially Bmw's. old cars are good too. just not 50 year old junks. sorry

  • @BenjaminLucky13 its classic stupid

  • @MrGabrielicious Chill i was being sarcastic moron

  • HAH! My 72 Sedan Deville (4dr Hrdtp) only has 1,606.7 original miles!

    Yeah, its all original too..

  • Can somebody explain me the point of pumping gas while starting? I'm not familiar with these american engines, so I'm bit curious :]

  • @NakloCompany what the thing about it is that older cars have a block mounted fuel pump. so if you pump the gas you get the fuel to the pump faster.

  • Ya, I got a 1970 Deville with the same engine. From a cold start it takes a few pumps and a couple of cranks. But once you get that engine going, that car can become a beast. I pump the pedal while I crank it and it seems to have more success. Nice Cadillac dude!

  • That's an awesome car.

  • Fill the carb bowl through the vent tube and it will start like you drove it yesterday.

  • dude... you have to pump AS your cranking. or it'll take for fuckin ever to start

  • THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF A REAL COLD START! Not some freakin boring modern fuel injected computer controled cars of today.

  • nice cadillac! hard start

  • flood the fuck out it ahahah

  • Ha what a beast and here I was thinking my 79 Ranchero was a big grumpy pig... love the video

  • you pump like a granny.!

  • drive this fucker down the street and youll get respect

  • Sitting 4 months aint nothing. Crank it it up, ice cold, and hold it to the floor, oh keep pumping the gas too.

  • Shes A Bit Flooded

  • nice caddy dont over rev the engine the lifters are ticking !

  • nice one

  • She's a bit of a cranky old beast ha? Engines that fire up right away make borring cold start vids anyway, I liked this one.

  • @blindmotorhead cool man thanks

  • @blindmotorhead exactly!

  • @blindmotorhead Yeah! What the hell is the point in watching some boring ass 1990 whatever Coralla or Camry start anyway...?

  • @blindmotorhead You are right

  • pooor caddy

  • Doesnt know the first thing on starting this beast.Cant crank 4-ever and not keep from pumping the gas!

  • @3matic7 pumping the gas is the best part!!

  • @acrazycanuck78 It is for sure! Pump that pedal! :)

  • @acrazycanuck78 Definitely! Pump it! :--)

  • @3matic7 his car let him do what the fuck he wants

  • @1976gmc350 HILLBILLY FAG YOU MUST BE A FRIEND

  • @3matic7 no im not

    just making a point

  • Thats good to hear, you just dont see many nice big block caddys out there that still run.

  • Awesome way to kill the starter

  • @pontiacpanic79 starter is fine.

  • @pontiacpanic79 it will be fine, they aren't built as frail as they are today...

  • umm 2 pumps is sufficient

  • sound like a diesel

  • PUMP HER MORE! LOL ROFL

  • LOL,,,Dumb Butt.

  • @ZefreyLove really?

  • @acrazycanuck78 no I don't know you, but it should not take that long to start, it was missing when you accelerated, and it sounded like it was clearing up, it needs some GUMOUT, possibly a tuneup please.

  • @ZefreyLove Oh really, Smiley!

  • @JSneaker lol well it helps to hobby farm :P

  • How many cylinders does it have? 8?

  • it needs a good tune up.

  • Power!!!

  • ever think about pumping WHILE cranking it over? -_-

  • @possiblefurry Wow, a teen who knows how to pump-to-start! LOL

  • I'm quite interested in why you were pumping on the gas with the car turned off

  • caddytruck, oldsmoboat, what i call them.

  • IT SUCKS THAT U SOLD THE

  • you should ask your friend if he would sell the caddie ! Also ask him if he would do a recent cold start video of it?

  • @TheOldcarlover i dont think he wants to sell it but im sure he would agree to another video..

  • @TheOldcarlover notice it fired AFTER he stopped flooding it pressing the gas like a madman

  • mpg? more like gpm lol

  • Pump that caddie gasser!!!!!!!

  • they make performance stuff for the 472 and 500 now aluminum intake headers cam and other goodies lol..

  • Pump It!!! Pump It!!! Pump it!!! LOVE the sound of that big ol' Caddy 472!!! My Grandparents had both a 1971 & then a '73 Fleetwood Brougham with that 472 in it, The '73 Fleetwood had custom dual exhausts with I think Hooker headers, Man!! That baby sure sounded sweet!! Both of those Caddies just literally FLOATED down the road also!!!

  • Those old Quadra-Jet carbs sometimes had leaky fuel bowls, making a cold engine hard to start.

  • Like ZZ Top?

  • If you think the 472 has power, think of the 500 caddy.

  • That 500 Caddy is an AWESOME engine!!! With the right amount of upgrades and tuning, It'll BLOW THE DOORS off a 472!!!

  • After 4 months the carb bowl was empty. The gs has evaporated/leaked out (common Q-jet issue). Pumping the pedal does no good until fule gets to the carb, and it's a long way from the tank to the carb.

Fill the carb bowl with fresh gas, pump 3-4 times and off you'll g(if the choke is working). It'll run on the fuel you put in the bowl till the pump gets gas flowing.

I do it on my '70 after it sits for a few days (leakey Q-jet), Much better than running the starter so much.

  • love to see u crank with no shoes/boots, just socks! :P

  • not very good with the pedal

  • the battery is a trooper

  • So the guy went thru a rough hard start, give him a break. He had a good time trying to get it started.

  • [472] 375 HPand 525 FTB of tourque Hell Yeah!

  • Sounds like a cool old car. Must be fun to take her out for a cruise.

  • I know it's been sitting for awhile. But it sounds like you have a choke problem.

  • sounds like my 1982 Cadillac Eldorado in the first 2 minutes of the video then again that's all it does. damn wiring and fuel injection, unless you dump a little gas down the throttle body and it will run for 2 seconds. at least you have a carburetor.

  • aww man that's so sad =(

    thanks anyway

  • hey guys i have the way to get this 472 big block at a very low cost, but i have a few questions: is it a good idea to put this engine into my 1995 Trans Am?

would it fit my 6spd transmission? please someone answer

  • this motor is way too big

  • Your man status just dropped to manbitch

  • @TheModerate513 hes probably one of those prius driving faggots

  • there is no such thing

  • you just wish you could put that beast in your geo metro

  • The motor is way too big for what?

  • you should turn the key while pumping it then your feeding gas in there while its pumping it in there thats what my dad did to his 57 plmouth and it worked after sitting there for 6 months

  • It'd be very cool if you could get a video of the 57 plymouth starting up.. :)

  • i know but my video camera broke on thursday i dropped it from the 3rd floor of my aunts flat (apartment) when i was visiting her

  • Damn the luck! Use your camera phone if you have one..??

  • i would i just have to get a cord for it so i can take the cord and hook it up to my palm treo to the computer

  • @floodedcaddy halfwit134 should be the one to pump it for us! Sadly, his dad probably doesn't have the car any longer.

  • @JSneaker Right! he gave sold it then gave me half the money to buy a car, so i bought a 1992 Mercedes benz 190E 2.3 for around 2,000 and with about 9,000$ left i bought a 1994 300E! for $4,000 I love older 70's 80's and 90's mercedes, i am looking into a 2000 volvo S70 now, im going to look at it this week! My father isn't to happy with me taking up the garage space! haha his current oldie car is a 1956 Buick special in red!. :)

  • @halfwit134 A 1956 Buick Special? I'd love to watch you start that! (: Thanks for the reply!

  • @JSneaker Thanks! i wish i could but it is being restored right now so i can't.

  • but that is very bad to do to the carb.

I pumped while the engine was cranking on my 77 ford..

used to do it all the time until one day it wouldn't start at all

When i had it looked at the mechanic told me it was from me pumping the gas as the car was trying to turn over.

There are a bunch of tiny springs in the carb hooked up to vacuum pumps and mechanical thermostats. That all work by setting via pump the gas then stop pumping they stay set then turn the key when you do they reset

  • But if you pump the gas as you crank the engine those spring set reset set reset set reset multiple times until they wear out and break.

you don't really want to do that do you?

  • The best is the way this person does it..

You pump the gas three or four times to prime the carb and set the springs in the carb then without pumping turn the key..

If the engine fails to start then pump two or three times to reset the springs in the carb for the choke then try to start if the engine turns over you don’t have to do anymore wear and tear on the carburetor’s springs

But if you pump continuously as the engine cranks you make the carburetor’s springs do triple unnecessary work.

  • how do you rev an automatic, do you just put it in nuetrel

  • any gear. but if you do it n a drive gear and hold the break you get smoke ;)

  • Exactly!

  • i hope you didnt pay alot for it lol

  • pacjr310, how do you know the most he has to pump it is about 6 to 10 times? It's an old car with an old engine and it's been sitting 4 months. You don't know anything about that car, but HE does! Just between me and you..you really just want to bitch, don't you??
