How much do you think all of these materials would cost? This seems to be the cheapest and quickest method to make decent squibs.

I'm also wondering if these would work on an actor who is running. I'm trying to achieve the effect of a person being gunned down mid-run, but most of the squib tutorials I've seen will only work if the actor is stationary. So would these work in the scene I'm trying to achieve?

@ometta7 not sure if you ever found out your answer but these will and wont work. Its kinda dangerous but they can be used if you put some sort of armor behind them on the body like a metal plate taped to the body. If you want blood to pop out of the wounds then you can tape a fake blood filled condom tight over the squibs. Keep away from face and make them tiny then rip the shirt gently so they will explode out.

I've tried to do this with firecracker powder and a 13'5 volt baterie (4'5 + 9 volt bateries) and it didn't work... what's wrong? Must I use black gunpowder (for bullets I mean)... In spain we have not gun stores!!! LOL Thanks for the vid, anyway, it's very interesting ;-)

Found these used with DC to be very unreliable as is. To get a more reliable bang I coated the ignition wire with cellulose from ping pong balls dissolved for about a day in acetone. Add a bit of finely ground gun powder to the result (which should look like elmers glue).

@GroovyVideo2: The connections were good, attached a meter to watch current flow. Tried numerous gauges, of both copper and nichrome wire and either the wire would burn out before the powder would take or it never got hot enough. Could have been the powder, it's synthetic so might have a lower ignition point. However dipping the ends in cellulose mixture proved almost perfect reliability. And will catch using a 9V battery if using nichrome wire.

I've tried this, and if you want a bloody gun shot, attach it to a cutting board and place a blood pack on it. Depending how thick the cutting board is, this can be a major factor. I only tried one size.

Hm.. Yes, you just have to basically replace the straw with a copper pipe about 7-8mm (0,3 inches), fold one end really tight that it doesnt let go any air. Then drill a hole in the middle or any place comfortable for you. Next you will have to tape the hole you drilled and pour in the mixture of any flammable powder you desire ;). Then seal the other end carefully with the same technique as the first one. Then you use the same idea used here. Just through the hole :)

The squib blows the jaws apart-

then the lamp falls

Great tutorial. But I can't seem to get powder where I live. When I asked for it at the gun shop the guy told me it was actually called "4F" and nobody he knew had a license to carry it.

to set of in sequence you use a Nail board -

a board with steel nails in it all the

negative wires are wired to each separate nails

then with a positive wire is scrubbed across

the nails -making a complete circuit for each squib--simple -- Thanks for the comments
