I think the game is awesome, you don't have to follow the storyline and it's still fun. In fact, I prefer the "Custom game", playing without a plot or mission. But if you like being guided, you have several campaigns, being a defender, a trader, a pirate...

It's just that there is a lot of info and things to grasp in the beginning, so it can all seem like too much, but when you give it time you get the hang of it all pretty easily.
I played X2 the threat.Was good with many mods releashed and few AI bugs. But X3 TC AI is the worst X series could ever be. You need to save often because most of the time AI blind pilots crash to stations, asteroids and even on other ships. Last time was trying 1 hour to make AI contolled Transporter safely undock from a station without beeing destroyed from collision with station... thats insane too time consuming and really bad option to spend time with.

Great game but what i rly hate about it is the ui ... After a month or so of plaing x3 I was like ok maby i should have learned how to fly a 747 it shurely must be much easyer then what u have to go through to be good at this game
One thing I dont understand with this game is: if you buy another ship and you tell it to fly with you, that is a computer doing that, there is no pilot.. alright I can go with that, but why the **** are all the other ships in the galaxy flown by pilots.. I mean isnt that too expensive if you can just buy the software to order them too go somewhere.. thats something that really takes me away from the atmosphere, and that is what this game needs

@srgreefer: The server don't care about the detail a player can see. Even on MMOs the server just handles the logic - meaning, when is what where and whan happens. Lag happens when there is too many stuff going on (so there are tons of information which needs to be send) or the connection to the server is overall bad. Graphics are COMPLETLY clientside - meaning: a MMO can look as amazing as a singleplayergame. (Only thing: higher sys-reqs = smaller playerbase)
@pinkyfull EVE aint got anything, its just another MMO, but the X Series provide a great story line and a sand-box type of gameplay which is quite rare in a game, and i didn't start playin' EVE because it didn't have a cockpit mode neither the X's graphical engine and phisycs...not to mention the fact that sometimes it kinda makes u forget your playin' a single player game

ahhh........ I dont know why but I did all the missions up to the point where terrarformers are constantly attacking sectors. So I went to a mine and it came up with "Defense Mission-Hard" and the reward was like 950,000 credits so i thought OMG so i did the mission then like 10 fighters and pirate frigate warped through a gate.. (I had 4 fighters) I was thinking Sh*t so, surprisingly we nearly did it but one of my fighters on auto-pilot crashed in to the frigate and we all blew up... ah well.
I need help.... i suck at making money..... and can you really put your ships on auto trade between like two stations (That you dont own) without having to choose which goods they have to trade? as long as they rake in a profit?
well what i did at the start was fight weak outlaw ships, if you can make them eject, you can eject from your own ship, float over to the empty enemy ships then get in it or whatever to make it your own, then go back to your own ship, bring up your fleet com menu and order the ship u caught to fly to nearest shipyard then sell it lol, keep doin that til you get a good ship

yeah, i hate that, you can transfer the systems from your own ship to the new one if its better tho once you fixed it up :] if not just sell the damaged ships i guess lol. Is it actually X3 TC you got or X3 reunion?
@SevS92 EVE is a lot more simplified than this (and I thought EVE was pretty complex myself), X3 you've really got to work to reap the rewards. It's first-person unlike EVE, and also revolves around twitch-based combat for fighter-craft, and arguably so for the capital ships too.
I love this game. It may have taken 10+ hours to figure out what the fuck was going on, but i swear this game has thousands of hours of gameplay in it.
This game is a little like sins of a solar empire, but you are always on a single ship. Battles are MUCH better! You can own as many ships as you like, and control them remotely, switch ships, own stations, make money, and kill things. Or do the missions.
My trade is mainly Space Weed, Weapons and Shields ^_^
Well you control the ship your in directly, but every other ship you buy you buy can support you as well. You can give a variety of commands, such as guard this area, join my fleet, trade, mine, etc.
well the game is really hard, thats sure... perhaps if i would follow the gameplay it would be different... but yeah doing whatever you want makes the game hard
Nothing like those above. X is a singleplayer simulator, where you fly a single ship, but can command other ships and manage an economical empire - and do lots of other things.
Seems to me it's closer to EVE. But you can own more than your starting ship, a whole armada if I recall right, and you can come to own a space station.
The gameplay is never RTS like Sins of a Solar Empire, however, as far as I know.

it depends on how you play it man, and what you actually want from a space sim game. If you like to build up an empire then this is the right game for you. The game must be played with mods, otherwise it is not complete.
.. and in x3 the space is so damn small.. stations next to stations.. surrounded by stargates. Independence War 2 :Edge of Chaos rules at the "realistic sim" chapter and they still rule to this day T__T
too bad Eve and X3 and many others have grate lack of physics: u have to use your full thrusters + upgrades to get to 800-1600m/s and stop at a certain speed, were in real life u would accelerate to ∞,oh and to stop a ship u would have to use the same quantity of force that gave u boost!! ; in eve u hyperspace through space-stations and planets but can't fly through a space-stations in the shape of a ring, u can fly through other ships though

im in the process of changing the music for TC, its not easy to find music that wont be to metal and to soft but still upbeat. 145 files to replace, it may take awhile.
I can't find anything about this on the net so I wonder if anyone knows, I already have X3: Reunion, is Terran Conflict available as an upgrade or do I have to buy the full game all over again? Seems a little steep to pay another 30 euros for what's essentially an addon.
It's a new game not an addon. There are lots of different stuff in it, new story, etc and require different thinking cuz some main core stuff is changed too.
Anyway this game worth more than 30euro.
Only few game were epic (metalgear solid, final fantasy etc) X3 is on this level.
Well I ended up getting it anyway and, while I totally agree it is a really great game, I 100% disagree that it's a "completely new game", it really is a bunch of stuff that with any sense should've been in Reunion. Reunion feels a lot like the beta version for TC now, and most of the TC content is adapted from _player made_ mods. Not to mention Egosoft itself acknowledges this by calling it X3, not X4.
I still think 30 bucks is steep for an upgrade like this but I guess the point is moot now.
Yeah, but i use a script that supertunes your ship, i get 1324m/s on the first ship u get, and i use the unlimited insurance hack, whats up with the need to pay to save? thats kind of crazy, i think this game is a bit too hard
Hm, yeah patience is required. I played it for about a couple of hours and I couldn't really get into it.
I couldn't get music to work either, so it was kinda boring just sitting there, listening to my ship engine and slowly make my way from bit of space to bit of space.
I love this game. X2 hooked quickly. X3 blew the bank. X3:TC blew it again.
If you want to play it: allocate a lot of time and patience. Learning curve is not that high actualy, however when you truly play it first time prepare to be bewildered as nothing is served to you at once.
I hate game trailors!!! There is no gameplay or any clue what the game is about.. apart from flyong round space!!!! Does anybody know if this is a good and as control friendly as the great Freelancer?
I played Eve for over a year and I agree that its a huge time sink, and I had to quit. The biggest problem with Eve is that there's very little a new person can do for PVP combat. You can't fight other people in "Empire Space" or the cops will come blow you away. And if you go to the places where you can fight, they are filled with people who have ships 100x better than yours. We got to the point where we were powerful but then it was like "now what?". No real variety in exploration.
u right about the EVE and X3. But in Eve could be more specific the outlook that ships. when i played eve i found just few ships models. there is nothing to observe just ships and stacions so could be there more. thats just my sugestion.
There's no discussion to be had on this EVE versus X3 argument. X3 is a singleplayer PVE (Player versus Enviroment) and space simulator/tycoon builder. EVE is an MMO Space simulator, with PvE and PvP.
Both games are incredibly hard, and very nice to look at, as well as very rewarding for time put in. Both games are worth 5 stars in my oppinion.
However, If X3 Reunion/TC was an MMO, It would make a -very- good one, and would take many players away from EVE.
I do agree it has many similarities with Eve Online. But Eve Online is a much bigger time sink. Plus way more brutal and unforgiving if you were attacked by a greater force and lost.
This game is finding balance where Eve Online failed.
It's funny i was trying to download this for free but failed to get it to even run.
I like to try games before i buy them
but i went to my local video game shop and picked up sins of the solar ( something like that) and city life and the guy told moe about X3 Terran conflict.
The very next day i took myself to HMV went to the PC area and picked up X3 terran Conflict.
And i have to say i'm happy that i own the game and not a Pirate copy.
Just to let you know Super, they are releasing a new retail version of Terran Conflict. I cant remember the name right now, but Gamestop/EB Games along with other stores will have it in early April.
Great! I don't understand why it wasn't at more retail stores. Games like the X3 series are a rare breed. As with planets, galaxies, and stars, the ideas for this game are endless. With the oustanding developer talent and a strong community, the game is evolving. Perhaps into a mmorpg or multiplayer with the whole trade concept realized as in the economy in WoW. Imagine what can be done.

Not hard to imagine, it already exist, ever heard of Eve Online, X3 is nothing but an Eve Online spoof. With Apocrypha, Eve transformed space exploring available for everyone and Ambulation with allow people to dock in stations and walk in player owned stores, people will be able to go run missions and cool of in a bar in a station playing platform came. They are also talking about an expension that would allow people to land on planets. And expensions come free with montly fee and is stable.
You sir are officialy an idiot. The first X game was long before youre crappy and sucky EVE. Also you cant compare and totaly gay wannabe mmorpg to an single player game with much more possibilitys and content.

Freelancer is good if you have some good players and a faction mod on a large RP server.
But like Black Ops, it would be a hell of a lot better if it actually DID have good players. Freelancer is pretty mediocre.
I can't believe I never played this before, after playing X3 i haven't played Freelancer, it's just so..... meh compared to X3.
And not just the better technology (engine graphics) but detail and design and gameplay.

I need help.... i suck at making money..... and can you really put your ships on auto trade between like two stations (That you dont own) without having to choose which goods they have to trade? as long as they rake in a profit?

well what i did at the start was fight weak outlaw ships, if you can make them eject, you can eject from your own ship, float over to the empty enemy ships then get in it or whatever to make it your own, then go back to your own ship, bring up your fleet com menu and order the ship u caught to fly to nearest shipyard then sell it lol, keep doin that til you get a good ship

@SevS92 EVE is a lot more simplified than this (and I thought EVE was pretty complex myself), X3 you've really got to work to reap the rewards. It's first-person unlike EVE, and also revolves around twitch-based combat for fighter-craft, and arguably so for the capital ships too.

I love this game. It may have taken 10+ hours to figure out what the fuck was going on, but i swear this game has thousands of hours of gameplay in it.
This game is a little like sins of a solar empire, but you are always on a single ship. Battles are MUCH better! You can own as many ships as you like, and control them remotely, switch ships, own stations, make money, and kill things. Or do the missions.
My trade is mainly Space Weed, Weapons and Shields ^_^

Well you control the ship your in directly, but every other ship you buy you buy can support you as well. You can give a variety of commands, such as guard this area, join my fleet, trade, mine, etc.
So it's a combination of both.

Seems to me it's closer to EVE. But you can own more than your starting ship, a whole armada if I recall right, and you can come to own a space station.
The gameplay is never RTS like Sins of a Solar Empire, however, as far as I know.

it depends on how you play it man, and what you actually want from a space sim game. If you like to build up an empire then this is the right game for you. The game must be played with mods, otherwise it is not complete.

too bad Eve and X3 and many others have grate lack of physics: u have to use your full thrusters + upgrades to get to 800-1600m/s and stop at a certain speed, were in real life u would accelerate to ∞,oh and to stop a ship u would have to use the same quantity of force that gave u boost!! ; in eve u hyperspace through space-stations and planets but can't fly through a space-stations in the shape of a ring, u can fly through other ships though

It's a new game not an addon. There are lots of different stuff in it, new story, etc and require different thinking cuz some main core stuff is changed too.
Anyway this game worth more than 30euro.
Only few game were epic (metalgear solid, final fantasy etc) X3 is on this level.

Well I ended up getting it anyway and, while I totally agree it is a really great game, I 100% disagree that it's a "completely new game", it really is a bunch of stuff that with any sense should've been in Reunion. Reunion feels a lot like the beta version for TC now, and most of the TC content is adapted from _player made_ mods. Not to mention Egosoft itself acknowledges this by calling it X3, not X4.
I still think 30 bucks is steep for an upgrade like this but I guess the point is moot now.

Yeah, but i use a script that supertunes your ship, i get 1324m/s on the first ship u get, and i use the unlimited insurance hack, whats up with the need to pay to save? thats kind of crazy, i think this game is a bit too hard

Hm, yeah patience is required. I played it for about a couple of hours and I couldn't really get into it.
I couldn't get music to work either, so it was kinda boring just sitting there, listening to my ship engine and slowly make my way from bit of space to bit of space.

I love this game. X2 hooked quickly. X3 blew the bank. X3:TC blew it again.
If you want to play it: allocate a lot of time and patience. Learning curve is not that high actualy, however when you truly play it first time prepare to be bewildered as nothing is served to you at once.

I played Eve for over a year and I agree that its a huge time sink, and I had to quit. The biggest problem with Eve is that there's very little a new person can do for PVP combat. You can't fight other people in "Empire Space" or the cops will come blow you away. And if you go to the places where you can fight, they are filled with people who have ships 100x better than yours. We got to the point where we were powerful but then it was like "now what?". No real variety in exploration.

There's no discussion to be had on this EVE versus X3 argument. X3 is a singleplayer PVE (Player versus Enviroment) and space simulator/tycoon builder. EVE is an MMO Space simulator, with PvE and PvP.
Both games are incredibly hard, and very nice to look at, as well as very rewarding for time put in. Both games are worth 5 stars in my oppinion.
However, If X3 Reunion/TC was an MMO, It would make a -very- good one, and would take many players away from EVE.

I do agree it has many similarities with Eve Online. But Eve Online is a much bigger time sink. Plus way more brutal and unforgiving if you were attacked by a greater force and lost.
This game is finding balance where Eve Online failed.

It's funny i was trying to download this for free but failed to get it to even run.
I like to try games before i buy them
but i went to my local video game shop and picked up sins of the solar ( something like that) and city life and the guy told moe about X3 Terran conflict.
The very next day i took myself to HMV went to the PC area and picked up X3 terran Conflict.
And i have to say i'm happy that i own the game and not a Pirate copy.

Great! I don't understand why it wasn't at more retail stores. Games like the X3 series are a rare breed. As with planets, galaxies, and stars, the ideas for this game are endless. With the oustanding developer talent and a strong community, the game is evolving. Perhaps into a mmorpg or multiplayer with the whole trade concept realized as in the economy in WoW. Not hard to imagine, it already exist, ever heard of Eve Online, X3 is nothing but an Eve Online spoof. With Apocrypha, Eve transformed space exploring available for everyone and Ambulation with allow people to dock in stations and walk in player owned stores, people will be able to go run missions and cool of in a bar in a station playing platform came. They are also talking about an expension that would allow people to land on planets. And expensions come free with montly fee and is stable.
