I'm usually not a fan of romantic movies. I actually hate them, most of the time. And one my friend, who's a great fan of Jake Gyllenhaal, almost demanded me to watch this one. Well, I'm glad she did, Brokeback Moutain is definitely one of the most touching film I've ever seen, without being pathetically cheesy at all, like most of romantic movies are.
In my opinion, this film deserves to go down in history as one of the "great love stories", like Gone With the Wind or Pride and Prejudice... to be honest, I think it's better than both of those.
When people just dismiss this film as "that gay cowboy film" I want to punch them: some people are so ignorant and can't see past the fact that the film is about two men who fall in love: we don't choose who we love!

God, this movie was so beautiful and sad. Most melodramas get you to cry, I feel, by being sorta trite and manipulative -- the 2 lovers meet, they're forced apart, one of them dies or almost dies, tears, the end. But this movie was so understated and real, by the end of the film I felt so much for all of the characters.
Just think how many people were/are in Jack & Ennis' situation. Heartbreaking.
Read the short story ;) It's almost more moving than the movie. Unlike far too much gay literature, this is a story about love, not sex. It's beautiful and fantastic for that reason. It opens peoples eyes to the reality and normalcy of two people of the same sex simply falling in love with each other...
I just felt in love with that movie! It's so beautiful, touching, a love so intense and desperate by the simple fact that they are finelly not together everytime. In like 20 years they have seen each other just a several times, for only a few days!
But what i love the most about it, that's the passion, hard and strong passion they share! they love and want each other so much, and so don't want to be in love with each other that they're violent with each other!

jake has the most amazing laugh - it always makes me smile, it's such a natural sound, and his gorgeous dimples (which we can't really see here) just adds to the perfection
Such a beautiful movie... This scene is so sad and romantic at the same time.. I really feel bad for Jack and Ennis that they can't be together just because of the time and place and that they can't show who they really are and because of that become angry and unhappy... Nobody is the same but everybody deserves to be treated same way!

In the book,it says they meet up 4 yrs later & Ennis tells Jack he got gut cramps real bad the day they split & he tried to puke.He thought he ate something bad & it took a year to figure out it was because he should never have let Jack out of his sight.
It also says while Ennis listens to lureen's hardfaced tale of Jack's death, he thinks 'no,they got him with a tire iron'(like the man his dad showed him as a kid). We don't know for sure how Jack died but the reader/viewer thinks like Ennis.
ok jack died because he was tortured and murdered becuase he wasnt making alot ofeffort to cover up that he was gay. he got attaced by 3 men in a field and there is a scene where u see it happening. they cut his face and stufff.

If it hurts anyone, it hurts the person with it. It is better to society to let people who are born gay just live gay than to push people into secretive, deceptive behaviour. We wouldn't have as well designed clothes, house interiors, hair styles... if it wasn't for gay guys feeling free to go into those professions. We also wouldn't have great lesbian porn if it wasn't for lesbians feeling free to do it on camera. Lots can be lost by intimidating them into hiding it.

This scene is so sad because it explains the fear that Ennis has. He wants to listen to his heart, he wants to be with Jack, but he's so afraid of what people would think, so afraid because of the ignorance and hate there is in society. That's why the whole movie is so tragic, these are two human beings who truly, deeply, purely loved each other but couldn't be together always because society is so cruel and ignorant.
To show there are consequences for their actions. To show the world isn't a beautiful place where you get everything you want no matter what that is. Being gay in California or Texas at that time means you can be tortured and killed. It was just a life lesson.
If u make a fuss about a movie, it should be kill bill or charlies angels full throttle, it's funny how a lead actor or actors, that deliver such a bad performance, that it affects every other actor, in the movie, and makes him or her look just as bad. The story of Earl and Rich and Ennis imagining how Jack died are the two most chilling moments in the movie. It is mind boggling how people can be so filled with hatred. It is a pity that those who preach or commit acts of violence against others don't stop and think for a moment how they would feel if situations were reversed.
Being a heterosexual Male this movie is a love story, everyone has a gay friend or relative. So what if they are be comfortable with yourself this movie is great. This scene is so sad because it explains the fear that Ennis has. He wants to listen to his heart, he wants to be with Jack, but he's so afraid of what people would think, so afraid because of the ignorance and hate there is in society. That's why the whole movie is so tragic, these are two human beings who truly, deeply, purely loved each other but couldn't be together always because society is so cruel and ignorant.

If u make a fuss about a movie, it should be kill bill or charlies angels full throttle, it's funny how a lead actor or actors, that deliver such a bad performance, that it affects every other actor, in the movie, and makes him or her look just as bad. BBM is as good as or better then Godfather, Deer Hunter, Traffic, Gladiator ect.

The story of Earl and Rich and Ennis imagining how Jack died are the two most chilling moments in the movie. It is mind boggling how people can be so filled with hatred. It is a pity that those who preach or commit acts of violence against others don't stop and think for a moment how they would feel if situations were reversed.

That's exactly the same with my friends. I've only been able to get one of my friends to watch the movie, but the rest are very homophobic. They toss out the word 'fag' and 'faggot' in normal conversations, and are disgusted by gay people.
I'm not gay myself, but at my school, you are deemed gay if you stick up for gay people.
But, yes, it's really disappointing that I have no one to talk about this movie with and all of my friends will miss this beautiful, beautiful movie.
