Well, it's not that she is the one who can sing in SNSD. Jess, Tiff, Seo, Sunny can sing, too. So is Hyo, Yul, and Yoon, but their's voices are not as strong as Taeyeon. So i think n SNSD, everyone can sing. The problem here is who can hit the notes, yep, that's Taeyeon. (I think Sunny and Tiffany can hit those notes, they did a good job when they sang Finally Now and By Myself)

Tiffany is an above average singer... the only one in the group that comes close is Jessica, but even she doesn't have the timber TY does. Maybe if SM had kept Soyeon (from T-ara) in SNSD, whose skills are in between TY and Jessica, we'd see an even better group... oh well.

@animax1010 sure... or so rumor has it. Regardless, I like how Taeyeon's voice is perfect. She makes a perfectly round sound, has amazing air/breathing control, and wide vocal range. She can transition easily from ballads to more upbeat songs, and she is a decent dancer. Her stage presence is excellent and she doesn't need to try to get camera attention on shows. I can't think of many singers who best her in the singing category alone... Younha, Yangpa, Winterplay's Hye won
