Wow Ricky, this is amazing! You play with such tenacity and fire n unreal technique for such a young cat. From another keys (not sick organist like you) from Brooklyn, much love. thanks for the inspiration. Lemmie know when you come up to play in New York. Peace
Wow Rick you really got your thang together mane....all the vids are superb. It's really true, what God has for you it is for You..!
I like all your vids, even this one but I especially liked it from 5:20 down.... keep up the good work bro! I still in the learning stages, but I'm tryin to reach that level.
Man thanks for your playing on here im trying to pick some but you're fast..... Slow it down 4 me.LOL I been watching you for a while and I like your style.... Jazzy and COGICY....I SAW YOUR JOHN PETERS REHARMONIZATION BUT CAN YOU REPOST GOD WANTS A YES ON B3 4 ME!!! Your way or his!!!!
hi.. i want ask you a question..my nick name is cogicy ..cogicy is turkish word ... you said in here "jazzy and cogicy" pls tell me whats means cogicy?? i wonder it...im from turkey and you??
Whats up man... ok COGIC is short for a christian denomination Church of God In Christ.... and so when I said cogicy I meant a style and jazzy way we play..... Hope this helps in answering your question... no im not from turkey and I apologize for using your name I didnt know...
I agree. The young COGIC style is jazzy and post-modern, like Doobie Powell's music, Asaph Ward, Butch Woodie, Michael Bereal, and many others throughout COGIC. Gotta love it!
Yeah man this dude is a beast thats how i am trying to get like once I get this knowledge of music and place it with the God given ability I already have you know? Well not like him but how god wants me to be.
You are good! Really excellent. I'd love to hear something slower, emphasizing the minor chords and soulful sound, without the fast flourishes. Keep up the good work. You deserve to go far.
Maaan, you got some really nice tunes and harmonics going on Ricky! Just work on getting it even more tight. You should join forces with at least a drummer ;-).
I think you actually mean Larry Young ... right? Cause the only Lester Young I know was a tenor player during the 40s & 50s. Whereas Larry Young was part of the avant garde movement of keyboard players during the 60s and into the 70s
The guy can do about anything anytime on any keyboard and happens to be a real good guy...great jazz piano too...i had the luxury of him sitting in with our band...he can work in the pocket equally well....superb!!!thanks for playing on our gig with Wess....
Ricky D is nice. I mean nice! yet I feel that there could being stronger left hand work. Lester Young, Larry Goldings or Groove Holmes would a great organist to listen to
Srv8813 Most people have no clue who Soulive is. I've meet and hung out with Neal. Dude's left hand is unreal. You'll think you're listening to a loop because it never changes while he's doing what ever with his right hand. Neal Evans studied at Berkley and the Harlem School of Music! Need I say more.
just look up soulive. "Next" is my favorite. All of them are great you really can't go wrong with them. They will not sound like 3 dudes. Soulive seems to make one thing that there is 10 people playing with them. lol
Bro....you definitly NEED to get in contact with Neal Evans from Soulive. You have GOT to be the only dude I've ever heard that can hang with him.Outstanding!
This young man has sooo much talent. It's good to see real musicians (young ones) in this day and time. Next time I would like to hear some Hymns. It would make my day :-)
I've seen my share of jazz musicians... i wouldn't call it pratice, just plain talent. its inside just waiting to be released...so why sit and day dream about Dr. Draper here... get da playing!!!
Phyllis is sort of right. The tune's in F minor, which has the same key signature as Ab (relative major of Fm). Ab is the all-time favorite gospel organ key.
saw this clip years ago been lookin 4 it 4 years so glad i found it save to playlist lol!!!!!
