Millennium XL... "$200,000 to $250,000 market." HAHAHHAA... sure they WOULD go for that, maybe more, due to the movements inside... but Panavision doesn't sell their cams or their lenses... its all for Rental =]
That's a Panaflex GII (Golden 2). It's pretty old and the GII was replaced by the Platinum in 1986. But the guys below are right, even if you get to use one of these old babies for your movie, you'll have to give it back afterwards. :o)
I agree with Jandy1: you CAN NOT buy a Panavision camrea, lense, etc. Maybe a Panavision t-shirt & hat... Panavision even offers a reward for the arrest & conviction of anyone selling a piece of Panavision gear. If you see one at a yard sale or flea market, it was likely stolen from a rental package that was on-location or in a storage room at a hotel. Panavision does n.o.t. sell their cameras.
This is why I'd rather shoot Super 16. Specifically with an ARRIFLEX SR3. It's lighter in weight, less expensive, more maneuverable, and cheaper to develop the film. The SR3 is around $55,000 American, not as expensive as this one.
Not exactly, the tripod displayed in the clip is a multi thousand dollar piece of equipment. I'm sure you might find one for a dv camera, but it will mighty expensive.
if i have 200 000$ can i buy this camera or no?

So we can never buy any film camera, we have to rent it?
crazyanimeguy 3 years ago 6
No, you just can't buy Panavision equipment.
You can buy stuff made by Arri, Red, Sony, Thomson, and other manufacturers of equipment.
However, if you own your equipment, you're also responsible for the maintenance (and the upkeep is not cheap).
At least, with rental, the company that owns the equipment is responsible for maintenance.
As a borrower, all you are responsible for is using the camera and protecting it as best as you can from damage and theft.

Panavision doesn't sell their cameras. $200,000 wouldn't buy you lenses or half of the stuff that is built on top of the camera in this video.

You can buy it, if you have between 100,000 and 300,000 dollars.
jfvvideos 5 years ago
Is that just for the gear head?
Bodrochowski 4 years ago
i'm not sure how much the tripod and mounts are, but the cameras are something you don't just go out and buy.
jfvvideos 4 years ago
Oh yeah I know, I thought you were referring to tripods because you were replying to MBCITB's question.
Bodrochowski 4 years ago
Except Panavision doesn't sell their equipment.
Instead, you rent from them.
Intersonus903 4 years ago 4
