  • Stupid. Don't compare the small Bose. Get the sound dock 10.

  • You cant really compare the home bnw with a portable bose. Both great systems but ones meant for the home and kuch bigger whilst the other is small and amazingly powerful for its size

  • i have heard the zeppelin. have zeppelin air and it sounds much fuller than the orginal. but the orginal is good but not so good as zepelin air. zeppelin mini sucks much

  • For all Top Gear fans: I just say: "Made in Mexico" ;)

  • Everybody check out the Logitech S715i portable docking staton. It's half the price, sounds just as good, and is even more portable. I have a review of it on my channel and a sound test video is on its way!

  • Nice review. Thanks very much! ... BUT it would have been cool if you played some music through both, even if it's hard to actually get a feel of the sound through YouTube :) 9/10

  • Cool video. Really appreciate your insights on the Zeppelin. Like others here I have to agree that B&W is way above and beyond anything Bose creates. :)

  • This is not a good comparison the Bose is a portable system with two speakers and a small woofer, while the zepplin has like a million speakers all the way down with a big sub. You should've compared a sounddock 10 to the zepplin.

  • I agree, you should have compared this B&W to the Sounddock 10, that would have been a more even comparison.

  • i will buy zeppelin air it sounds awesome

  • every time you pronounce BOSE i want to jump out of the window.....

  • There's this guy on here that has both, the Sounddock 10 and the Zeppelin, he never said anything about which one sounded better. He did say that the Zeppelin looked better, while others thought the Bose looked better. I personally couldn't tell any difference between the two, they have GREAT SOUND.

  • Not sure where your getting your info from my friend, but I'm guessing that the portable one has a package deal with a extra battery along with a pretty nice bag. You must be looking at the price in UK currency for 400. I can almost bet that that's not the price for the unit all by itself.

  • Also the Sounddock 10 has the optional Bluetooth adapter which is great. With my iPod touch I can control the music and change channels on the TV anytime, and go online. That's awesome , even though I had to pay extra for the Bluetooth adapter which really sucks. It was worth it.

  • Well, in the US here, the smaller Sounddock is half the price at $269 and the Sounddock 10 is $599. If you don't wanna take the price then let's take the size and the weight of the units.

  • @bbbald1 @bbbald1 Bose USA website shows $400 for the portable and apple store USA is the same too. I do love my bose stuff but it's over priced for what you get if I'm brutally honest. The sounddock 10 or portable just doesn't come close to the B&W Zeppelin. Bose make quality products for the HOME. B&W make studio quality products, they've used that know how to produce the Zeppelin.

  • @Lagunasaxoxr2

Well the B&W has 2-way speakers rather than the 1 fullrange speaker per side on the Bose

  • @Lagunasaxoxr2 - I would also add, after buying this SoundDock recently, in July 2011, and also purchased the Altec Lansing Mix iMT810, I kept the Altec Mix system, and returned the Bose. Altec may not have the high brow recognition of Bose or B&W, but it the Altec Mix sounds so damn good, with full range of sound, and fills a room better. I would go for the Zeppelin, but I don't feel like spending that much money on a system.

  • And yes Jappali, it does support the iPod touches cause I have one too and it works.

  • THIS Zeppelin should be only compared with the Bose Sounddock 10. The Bose here is less then HALF the size and Price. It's really not Fair. Or why didn't he compare the mini Zeppelin with the Sounddock 10.

  • @bbbald1 No it's a fair comparison as the bose portable sounddock is £349 in the UK and the Big Zeppelin is £390!!

  • @bbbald1 because the bose is massively ovepriced in the UK and Ireland.

  • Does the Zeppelin support iPod Touches? Anyone please tell me?

  • you've got a starbucks like balcony

  • i thought only the mini has the usb port?

  • @bosterita9 The mini supports audio with usb, the big zeppelin's usb is ONLY for firmware updates :)

  • Try the BOSE SoundDock 10, i just got one, it's realy good!!!

  • The Zepplin looks like a bright idea that came about in the restroom!! Its just terrible ugly!!

  • great video, before I purchase a Zeppelin I thought that you can control treble and bass but I can see that you cannot...:(

  • this video was listened to on a Zeppelin :D

  • beosound 8 is better

  • Yes, the Zeppelin works with my iphone 4

  • works with iphone? charging?

  • your dog and you chewing gum is very annoying

  • @stillmangal Sorry :(

  • @Lagunasaxoxr2 you don't need to apologize the video is still good just don't chew gum in your next videos ;)

  • @stillmangal It's a deal :)

  • I noticed at 3:30 that the AUX input is white which suggests not only analogue, but optical digital input. Basically, the B+W Zep has internal D/A circuitry which makes it a very versatile compact speaker component. I'm not sure why it would have S-Video though or composite, what would be the purpose for those video inputs?

Anyway, I was impressed by the sound quality, as its basically two small B&W speakers integrate into one unit, very natural, fills room with great sound nicely.

  • nice review mate.ive got the zeppelin.bose are great and portable.however i keep my unit stationary so the B&W is more for me..

  • Are you eating something? It annoys,

  • hahha

  • bose soundock portable is not so good as zepplin but it the best portable speaker

ever mush better than the zepplin mini. and zepplin mini sucks becouse bad sound,

you only be disappointed not worth the price buy the bose sounddock portaable instead it will own the facking zepplin mini speaker.

  • the zeppelin is double the price of the bose mains powered dock so will obviously will be better quality, but i bought the portable bose dock simply for the portability factor.

  • God bless you for posting a HQ, well designed, no nonsense review of the B & W Zeppelin. 5/5

  • oh ok....HOW DO I GET A FREE SAMPLE...I WILL ADVERTISE IT WITH NO PROBLEM... :)

  • What their power ..???

  • the ihome p1 studio duck is far!!!! the best sounding dock for you ipods an iphones period!!!!!!!!!!! 100 watts d amp loud an clean bass ;)

  • I´ve heard the BOSE system. It sounds pretty seducing soundwise. Fat and punchy. The only problem is that i quickly got tired of the representation . It plays all music in the same punchy manner , and because i like classical music as well , I decided for the Zeppelin. It plays music without the Bose synthetic feel to it.

  • i want to buy one of these 2 systems but i cant decide

i want a ipod dock that has great sound quality and can go very loud and one that has good bass.

and when you turn it up i want the sound quality to stay clear

i use the ipod dock for mostly sitting outside in the summer

which ipod dock do you think i should buy ?

  • Why would anyone assume that the Bose would be better than the B&W?

  • @Shift4g Most people do.The Zepplin is just a host of problem issues.Quality is a lot better with Bose. The soundock was the first of its kind and still the all around best. They are still the best selling and most reliable out there.B&W makes fantastic sounding home speakers but so so electronics in reliablilty.Bose is just ahead as a whole company.

  • @panaclean775 Lol wrong wrong wrong you talk rubbish B&W are used for Studio recordings and Bose doesn't even if they did rubbish! B&W are top of the top really they are + what do you expect, being british the Zeppelin is going to own audio. Your opinion is as good a a dog that hates humans and can't catch a thrizzbee.

  • @MrSoulFriendly Something being used in the studio has nothing to do with how something is used at home.Bose products are very excepted in sound with 95% of all the customers that buy them.Which is alot more thanB&W.Like I said..B&W make fantastic sounding speakers ...But when it comes to reliablity in the inner amps and circutry..Bose is way more reliable. My Cousin is part owner in an HIFI audio store. They warranty both..B&W Zepplin has had alot of issue.I like B&W..But the facts are facts.

  • @MrSoulFriendly Yeah British audio B&W were good until American audio WILSON come along..Now the Brits are trying to keep up I guess.

  • @MrSoulFriendly I'm just messing with you lad...Not trying to argue..Bose and B&W are in 2 different audio catagories.B&W are soley for the true Audiofile person that demands only realwood had built speakers that have flat frequency response.Bose is for the commen working man that just wants warm room filling audio thats very reliable.Bose doesnt even make a studio moniter.Thats why there not used in studios.Bose has the best customer service and they really do last.Comman man speakers.thats all

  • @panaclean775 I like Bose, maybe they do have good customer services, but so far B&W seem to care also, when I have contacted them. So what would you recomend for an audiophile?

  • @MrSoulFriendly Well,Good question..I guess I can only speak from what I have heard..If money is no object I would say check out Wilson audio..But for people that have a decent budget I would say Paradigm signature or the "yes"B&W diamond series. If your on a budget...The PSB Synchrony series is a really good choice. For poor people that want world class sound my favorite is Definitive Technology Bp 8000 series speakers. They sound great! For those that just want room sound..Bose is ok for that:)

  • @MrSoulFriendly Intresting, but what would you recommend for a real top decent ipod/iphone docking station?

  • this is helping me..

i'm still new to this kinds of things...

pls help to decide... i like bass and good quality sound and loud.. which one should i buy? the zeppelin mini or the bose?

    (pls reply this comment)

  • get b&w zeppelin, or zeppelin mini!

  • The Zepplin is ideal as a fixed position unit in the house, Appartment etc. The sound is better and is a much bigger and sturdy unit as a main music system. Where as the Bose is smaller and portable which is ideal for taking out to Picnics, Hotel rooms and House parties etc and sounds great. So it really just depends on what you are going to use your sound dock for. Either way the fact that these 2 systems are being compared shows just how good each one is.

  • Hense the introduction of the Bose SoundDock 10. I wont tell you to buy it, but for a fair comparison, take a listen.

  • in mexico bose is more cheaper than b&w

  • The big Zeppelin is much better than the mini version for sound quality and volume but the mini has a few cool features thou, twisting the iPhone or touch etc into landscape mode and usb port on the back carries audio so u can plug into a computer etc. I think the Bose sounddock portable has a slight edge in the sound department compared to Zeppelin mini .

  • I think you're entitled to your wrong opinion ;-)

  • it looks ridiculous.

  • Great video.

I must say i did a comparison between the sounddock 10 and the Bowers & Wilkins zeppelin at John Lewis.

I played several different genres of music on both to compare and i think the B&W zeppelin is actually better than the bose. Don't get me wrong, the bose is great but the zeppelin is better.

I bought the zeppelin for £390, what a bargain for the the sound quality. Bose is £699 and isn't as good.

I think Bose need to sort their prices out !

  • I agree with your comments, however, the Bose Sounddock Portable system in this video is £350 not £699. Although their new Sounddock 10 series is £700 so you may have got mixed up with your price references there...

  • I was on about the sounddock 10, i should have made myself clearer.

I meant to say the zeppelin is still better than the £699 sounddock10.

  • @josh231771 no you got wrong the zepplin its more powerful and than soundock portable but not sounddock 10. the sounddock 10 has better sound quality and gets louder, and at least 25 watt more

  • now i have the bose sounddock portable it sound good but ik think this speaker its a lot better

  • i want the zepplin speaker but i dont have money for it. It will take me half year to get it. but the sound is very clear and loud

  • Hi, might be best to email Bose direct for more in depth details on it. For a portable iPod speaker it's awesome but I don't think the overall performace warrants the price you pay, the Zeppelin is much much better in every way.

  • @Lagunasaxoxr2 is the zeppelin mini better than this? please let me know

  • Hello i am doing a project Reffering to the Bose speaker you discussed... Is there any way to find out more information about the design... and why theres nothing on the market that can beat it?

  • guys bose is nothing compared to the zeplin

even the sound dock 10 !! im sorry for 700 pounds! there asking way to much i could go in to more detail but im sure no one really cares ;)

    grate video man

    take care

  • @regisfun its 400

  • @hicpuf i'm sure it is :)

i did post that comment in 2009 btw

  • Those who think the Bose sounddock 10 sounds better than the Zeppelin are definitely NOT audiophiles.

  • Bose have released the Sounddock 10 system which vomits in the Zeppelins face. Sound quality and looks better.

  • Have you got either unit? If you read the reviews on the sd10 or go to a store and listen to both the Bose and Zeppelin you'll realise that that Bose can't match the pure sound quality of the b&w Zeppelin!!

  • Are you being serious!?!?!? The Zeppelin is a piece of art!!!

  • I agree with you on all points. I also have the Bose SoundDock Portable, which I believe is best in its class of portables and overall a very good speaker system. But, as you said, the Zeppelin is definitely a jump up in quality.

I bought a Zeppelin yesterday and love it. But before buying it I checked out the new Bose SD 10, which is the same price as the Zeppelin here in the US. I would rank the SD 10 as a very definite step up from the SD II/Portable, but the Zeppelin beats it as well.

  • Yeah right.

I'm very happy with my Bose Sounddock Portable... Well as the name of the unit suggest, it's portable.

Wish I could say the same with the Zeppelin.

  • They now do a zeppelin mini!!!

  • @Lagunasaxoxr2 do not buy zepplin mini its weak sound the bose soundock its better an zepplin mini

  • I don't think you can appreciate the difference listening to it with using a mic on a camcorder. Trust me though, the difference in quality is BIG!

  • Why not make an video to show us the sound?

Play some nice songs, pop/house or something. Good base?

  • The Zeppelin is awesome! The BOSE can't compare at all for pure sound quality and quality construction.

  • You got that right!!

  • Tell it like it is !!! Zeppelin rules !!!
