  • captivating!!!

  • get another round in at the bar :)

  • This song makes me want to be British even fucking more than I wanted to before, and I've really wanted to be British for a LONG time now.

  • @elmaestro711 Where are you from?

  • Did anyone else notice The Holloways poster? 1:05

Their's was the first gig I ever went to.

  • thats justin from the vaccines

  • @RheasRevenge Oh gosh, it is as well!!!

  • we all have a friend like tommy, essential to the plan although we can't quite remember why...

  • @XxLibbyRulesxX And if you don't have a friend like Tommy, you ARE Tommy. XD

    I know I am.

  • seen his last gig with Million Dead up here

  • Rome Sweet Rome.

  • 5 people still dont n=know prufrock

  • Beans on toast is there! Beans on Toast is awesome!

  • I just spent a good five minutes in shock when I spotted Justin Young in this video, him and Frank Turner are some of my absolute favourite musicians. To see them together is a bit amazing. Love this song!!

  • frank turner totally shits over ed 'ginger cunt' sheeran.

  • BEANS!!!!!

  • I wish I could find people around me that understood why I love FT's music with such passion .

  • @guidosegers Guido, trust me you will some... Your friends to people you meet at Frank turners gigs, You'd be surprised at who love frank after listening to him after a while! He's like a never ending fire :p once you're caught you're never lost! Just encourage them

  • love thish

  • I'm not sure whether I like this video or not, the song seems much more powerful when you listen to it on its own

  • listened to this everyday since it came out, still makes my spine tingle! FT is amazing!

  • Not afraid!

  • I love how it only has 120,829 views. He's one of the only acts that hasnt been ruined by dicks trying to fit in!

  • is the guy at :52 Justin Young from The Vaccines, aka Jay Jay Pistolet??

  • @dvba92 It is, and I assume it's the "Justin" he refers to the song.

  • @dvba92 I thought that :L it does look like him

  • this was the first song I ever performed solo. I played at open mic night in a church basement for 15 people. I wanted to post it, but my dumbass friend forgot to turn on the camera until half-way through the song.

  • @charlieorr4 everyone here hates you, well done

  • I would go gay for frank turner.... fucking great job ben!

  • And this is why I click on peoples signatures on websites...

  • ekmb is a really good album, but nothing on the first two. siftw and lias have that very personal feel this song has that 'i have no idea where this is going to take me' but a defiance of not giving up. so glad he is as big as he is now i just hope he goes through some shit to create more songs like these (well obviously nothing too bad maybe a couple of bad relationships so more songs like wisdom teeth and heartless bastard mother fucker.) ftftw

  • You know what does it for me every time? His passion that seeps from the lyrics. An absoloute legend.

  • Does anyone know who 'Adam' is? We've got most of the rest.

  • Minds me a bit of Billy Bragg

  • 1:13 ...Michael Essien?

  • Every lyric but "Get another round in at the bar" is a masterpeice. I just think there are much better ways he could have thought of to end it.

  • @Bammarjackass I think it brings an otherwise epic narrative to an abrupt, relatable close.

Frank Turner's crazy-talented, but he's not larger than life.

I think it's a pretty good ending, maybe a bit abrupt, but still.

  • Well it looks like Justin has finally made it.

  • i saw frank turner when he opened for flogging molly and he was amazing.. i love his music

  • is this the Holloways in the background? with the raincloud picture and the "so this is great Britain?" poster

  • Each song I've listened to of his has brought an even bigger smile to my face

  • haha beans on toast

  • Saying that if I had the money, I think seeing Frank Turner live anywhere would be worth it.

  • That is the size of The fire station?!

This makes next week even better now.

Totally worth the trip from Southampton.

  • For some reason, this song lifts my mood. I don;t know why :L

    Frank Turner FTW!

  • whats ground parsings? sorry, im not english.

  • @RedFlowerDarkHair Gram Parsons, a famous american singer songwriter

  • absolutely brilliant

  • This my favourite frank turner song. I love it because it reminds me of my 'gang' of friends: the romances, the drama, the long summers spent on overcast beaches. that eclectic group of people that formed me as a person. whenever I think of those times I feel a beautiful glow that permeates from within me from what I image a religious man would call my soul. I love frank and all his music but those last few lines echo my feelings more accurately than any musician has done since the smiths.

  • @PhilToTheMax what you just said there. made me cry. <3

  • @PhilToTheMax I got into Frank a wierd way: 'Try this @ home' was in a rocksound cd for an issue in which frank insulted hayley williams in a interview (I've been a paramore fan since their 1st album). I knew Million Dead, but not his solo stuff, so I had a listen despite myself and loved it. Checked him out on youtube, learned a few songs. Fastforward to now: RAG week in uni, sitting out in the sun yesterday evening, me and my friends reflecting on stuff...

  • @PhilToTheMax cont... like how all our bands are going nowhere and the economy is so bad we won't have jobs, but also about how this time next year we'll be facing into our last 8 weeks as undergrads, going our seperate ways. We were a bit sad, but one of the girls is learning guitar, and she started playing this song. I know it too, so I joined in on another guitar, and soon everyone was singing. Perfect end to the evening, even if it made a few of us cry...

  • @PhilToTheMax cont... and then we got another round in at the bar ;).... never been a smiths fan tho... but frank's amazing, by 15yo brother and 50yo dad, both of whom hate the music I like, love frank too (i told them about him). See? He transcends generational bounderies!

  • you can see how much this song means to him and how stongly he feels about it

  • He's not just an singer, he's a poet.

  • 10000% Respect this guy for including Southampton ih these lyrics! Great song.

  • Holyshitballs I can't believe this guy still doesn't have more support

  • @meddeyc I hope he never gets a huge fan base though. Look what its done to other bands over time, they have eventually lost the message in the music they make and thats what I think Frank is about, he delivers an amazing message within every song

I hope that Frank stays as he is; hes a genious and a living legend :)

  • I KNEW FRANK TURNER BEFORE HE GOT FAMOUS!

  • @rockguru123 Kudos to you fucking hipster

  • @rockguru123 I, unfortunately, did not lol

  • @rockguru123 i can't say the same thing... *sigh* I wish I'd have found out about him long before I did!

  • @rockguru123 He's not famous over here in America.

  • ahh what a good song. Could the title be referring to T.S Eliot's great poem "The Lovesong of J. alfred Prufrock"??

  • YES SOUTHAMPTON!

  • I *JUST* realized 'Jay' is Beans on Toast. I feel REALLY dumb.

  • aah so brilliant, less than a week till i see him live, my first gig and this is his best song by so far

  • oh frankie boy <3

  • Just saw him last night in Atlantic City. My second time seeing him. He is an absolutely amazing songwriter, an incredible performer, and a genuinely nice person. After he played, he was running his own merch booth. My friend got kicked out of the show during Social D, and Frank witnessed the whole thing going on. As security was dragging my friend out, Frank came out into the hallway, and tossed him a free t shirt!

  • Is it just me or did anyone else notice that this song is about a million times different from anything you will ever hear. It is a poem put to music not lyrics to fit music. There is not chorus and no classic guitar breakdown. I think if anyone wanted to know what Frank Turner is about it is this song. You have to listen to the music, but its also the sad reason why he wont get the recognition he deserves.

  • @twheelchairracer26 its actually folk in form. Folk songs originally were just a series of verses, whereas now pop has decreed all songs require verse/chorus structure. Thats why it sounds so unusual, but actually its following a long tradition of music that is as old as human civilisation. Its a folk song for the 21st Century, in fact.

  • @Cacophonaut If that's a fact, then long live folk music and may our guitars never fall silent.

  • Seen him live 7 or 8 times and it never gets boring, great lyrics top tune :))

  • When I saw him live he immediately took a swig from a beer bottle after he finished this song. Quite fitting

  • 4 People are about to be hit by a bus.

  • Just realised that the line "Jay is our Saint George" is about Beans On Toast.

  • This song never stops being awesome.

  • 1:15 is that the guy from Beans on Toast? :D

  • Probably the first person who's younger than me that I admire. That song gives me goosebumps; pure fuckin' emotion !

  • Life is about love, last minute and lost evenings <

  • btw, who is prufrock?

  • @Ghruul The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock is a poem written by T S Eliot..

  • @corcaightwo ...finally 9th grade english class paid off- lol

  • Great song, love the lyrics Life is about love, last minutes and lost evenings,

About fire in our bellies and furtive little feelings,

And the aching amplitudes that set our needles all a-flickering,

And help us with remembering that the only thing that's left to do is live.

  • and the only thing left to do is get another round in at the bar <3

  • I cannot express with words how much I absolutely LOVE this song. Everything's so inspirational, especially the last bit. 'They help us with remebering, that the only thing that's left to do is live...'

  • Justin is the last great romantic poet. The only one among us who is ever gonna make it!

  • frank turner. i love you.

  • Fantastic, effing brilliant. I am in love.

  • Is this "Indie"?

  • @l337z0r No. It's Frank Fuckin Turner!

  • the lyrics are wonderful!

  • The guy in the blue jacket dancing on stage to the left of Frank is Rob Skipper, he sometimes plays fiddle for frank

  • Is that Beans on Toast in the video?

  • @Cardsharkchris Yeah it is, Jay, he's in a couple of his videos.

  • Where is this filmed?

  • that pub in holloway i think. nambuca or something.

  • Omg beans on toast was playing in that

  • this came up on my reccomended vids, like a few other FT videos as I have been watching a few lately, but the uploaders name is what made me comment.

Great song but not my favourite off Love, Ire & Song.

  • well done, Chris - it's only been up a year and a half! (And it's not that good - the Poetry of the Deed one is better)

  • only a year and a half? i cant say i have kept very good track of music videos the last year and a half, just checked out the poetry of the deed video though, very good, some brilliant shots too, didnt Andrew Baker work on it as well? must of been pretty cool going to all those frank gigs, fake problems are good too. oh I saw you on Franks tour diary a while ago aswell.

  • @benmorse i dont think it is to be honest mate. it's got some quality songs but a few which let it down. this album all the way through is fantastic!

  • @benmorse I actually think Love Ire and Song is a better album than Poetry Of The Deed.

The best has to be EKMB, he's well and truly come into his own on that one!

  • @chrisfishlock my favourite along with photosynthesis! but as long as you love frank turner i dont care which song you like as the are all great but would like to know your personal fav!

  • what an absolute LEGEND...i would...there i said it...even if we both do have beards...i would

  • Got a possible velcro meshing scenario going there...

  • awesome song :) and beans is in it too ! =]

  • Let's begin at the beginning: we're lovers and we're losers, we're heroes and we're pioneers, and we're beggars and we're choosers. We're skirting round the edges of the ideal demographic. We're almost on the guestlist, but we're always stuck in traffic. We've watched our close associates up and play their parts; they're chatting up the it girls, and they're tearing up the charts, while we were paying with coppers to get our round in at the bar

  • this is based on a peom by TS Eliot, possibly my most favourite poem ever... genius.

  • aha, would this be the video you mentioned on the train last night? assuming this indeed you! i like it. can't wait to see the new video and the photos looked pretty sweet too. hope you got home safe and enjoyed sleeping in a bed. nice talking to you :) x

  • best F.T. song!

  • ha thats so funny, i didnt even know it was jay jay pistolet

  • so is justine (the last of the great romantic poets), jay jay pistolet?

  • Is that Jay Jay Pistolet?

  • yes, yes it is!

  • love the ending

  • Frank is just a badass guy all around. I saw him at Parkside in Sf. (A shitty dive-bar haha.) He just has this awesome essence about him. I see why people are so drawn to him.

  • Fucking love you Frank, you are such a legend and you have a great chunk of my heart.

  • absolutely incredible tune. x

  • i have a few small minded mates that dont think theres any decent singer songwritters around, clearly they havent heard of frank turner! 'Its not bob dylan' your right this is music that is important today and good on him for making music that screams importance and substance!
